We already know what Kia's new flagship sedan will look like, but the automaker has finally released a handful of images showing the car in its Quoris-specific guise. While Kia still hasn't said when the 2013 Quoris will be available here in the U.S., these new shots of the car have us eagerly anticipating the car's arrival.

One new aspect of the Kia Quoris that we haven't seen before is the heads-up display screen. It's not clear what the availability of the HUD will be on the Quoris, but it is a feature that will help set it apart in a crowded luxury sedan market. From the picture, we can see that the full-color HUD screen will display information for the adaptive cruise control, navigation and vehicle speed, and we'd imagine there's more.

This latest round of images also gives us a better idea of what the interior will look like in a more natural light, as opposed to stylized images of the Kia K9 we've seen before, and they show the cabin in a different color combination. Outside the car, we still see full LED headlights and we also get a look at a new set of stylish, multi-spoke wheels with painted inserts.
Kia gives a closer look at Quoris interior originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 06 Sep 2012 11:01:00 EST.
Kia is hard at work cranking out a rash of new models, according to Automotive News. The South Korean automaker has plans to launch a new 40-mile-per-gallon version of the Forte Koup in January 2013, and the two-door will likely be trailed by a new five-door hatchback and yet another larger coupe. The latter two will likely see dealers by next summer, though Kia says those of us waiting to get our hands on the new Quoris flagship will have to twiddle our thumbs until 2015 at the earliest. As you may recall, the Quoris is a rear-wheel-drive sedan otherwise known as the K9.

In addition, Kia is expected to unveil the Cadenza front-wheel-drive sedan next summer as a 2014 model. Powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine, the four-door will be positioned above the smaller Optima and will likely carry an MSRP in the high $30,000 range. Meanwhile, forces inside Kia are still pushing to see the GT Concept translated into a legitimate production vehicle. The company is having trouble building a proper business case for the 395-horsepower sedan, however.
Kia planning onslaught of new product originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 17 Aug 2012 08:28:00 EST.
Locking your keys in your car is never a fun experience. You have to call the auto club or tow service, wait for them to either bring you a new key or break into your car for you. It's something that happens to everyone at least once, and then you (try to) remember never to do it again.

A team of Kia engineers putting a Quoris luxury sedan prototype through its paces in the desert have just performed the lockout test - unintentionally. As you can see from these photos from the spy shooters at KGP Photography, once locked out of the car, the entire team went to work, trying to get back into the sedan by the most high-tech means possible: screwdriver, pry bar and wire hook.

According to our intrepid spy photographers, the engineers toiled with the locks of the future Korean flagship for some time before getting the car opened - and not without a bit of embarrassment.

If only the Quoris had some sort of telematics system like OnStar from General Motors or Blue Link from sister marque Hyundai, they could have just called in and had the doors unlocked remotely. Perhaps it'll be an option?
Kia engineers lock themselves out of Quoris prototype... in the desert originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 27 Jul 2012 17:46:00 EST.
What do we even say about a name like Quoris? (Well, other than "What the heck?") With Kia calling its new flagship, rear-drive sedan the K9 in the Korean domestic market and the Quoris in the rest of the world, we think this promising car has the dubious distinction of having not one, but two of the worst names ever given to a new model.

Kia says Quoris is "derived from the English words 'core' and 'quality,'" but something was clearly lost in translation here, as Quoris is not only difficult to pronounce, it is utterly meaningless. Yes, we know it follows in a long line of such car names, but we doubt this is going to be seen as one of the good ones. It's not Lexus or Acura, heck, it's not even Amati.

Naming aside, the 2013 Kia Quoris should prove interesting when it launches later this year. Kia will be loading up the car with available features like full adaptive cruise control, a collision warning and mitigation system, blind spot detection and lane departure warning, and a multi-camera system similar to the brilliant Around View Monitor system from Infiniti.

But that name...

"Our decision to give this striking new sedan an unconventional name means it will stand out even further from the established crowd," said Thomas Oh, Kia's Executive Vice President & COO of the International Business Division, in a press release.

Okay then. At least Kia is making the Alphabet Game a little easier on the kids though. Finding those Q's can be difficult.
