<br /> Quality costs. Ask a recording engineer. For the same money you'll burn on a pile of inexpensive, non-serviceable gear whose greatest virtue is that "it works," you could alternatively purchase one channel's worth of serious equipment. The trade-off is that the real kit sounds great all the time, while the cheaper stuff never does. Boiled down to their essence, they both do the same thing, but it's the quality of the components and the careful construction that make all the difference.<br /> <br /> It's the same thing with the 2009 Audi Q5. $50,000 will put your rump in vast automotive acreage, but for the same coin, the Q5's dimensions are tidy. Combating the "quantity equals quality" mindset, Audi has made the Q5 a standout. It's filled with luxury and comfort items, and put together with typical German fastidiousness. And out on the road, the Q5 chats you up with feedback that's - dare we say - sports-like. So has Audi managed to finally put the "sport" in Sport Utility?<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/">Review: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/audiq5---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/audiq5---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/audiq5---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/audiq5---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/audiq5---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 Dan Roth / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/23/review-2009-audi-q5-makes-crossover-magic-at-a-cost/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 Audi Q5 3.2 Quattro is crossover magic - at a cost</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/23/review-2009-audi-q5-makes-crossover-magic-at-a-cost/">Review: 2009 Audi Q5 3.2 Quattro is crossover magic - at a cost</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 11:57:00 EST. <br />With many automakers scaling back production to better balance supply with demand, it's not surprising there are several hard-to-find models right now. <em>Forbes Magazine</em> made some calls and did a little research and turned up what they say is the top 12 most difficult to find cars. After the run on high-mileage cars recently, you'd expect to see hybrid models like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/27/toyota-said-to-be-increasing-prius-production-to-meet-early-dema/">Toyota Prius</a> at No. 2 on the list. Tied for second is a car on the other extreme, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/23/first-drive-2010-chevrolet-camaro/">Chevrolet Camaro</a>. Both model are spending an average of 18.5 days on dealer lots. <br /><br />But <em>Forbes</em> says the hardest to find new car recently is actually the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/17/2010-audi-a4-a5-and-q5-priced-a5-2-0t-starting-at-36-000/">Audi Q5</a>. The Four-Ringed crossover sat around in showrooms an average of only 16.8 days in June and July. Audi had another hit on the list with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/06/audi-announces-u-s-pricing-on-new-a5-and-s5-models/">S5</a>, which tied for 12th place with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/04/leaked-mini-gets-larger-sticker-for-2010/">Mini Cooper.</a> <br /><br />Only one other American nameplate showed up as a hot seller, and that was Ford's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/07/report-escape-puts-ford-back-atop-cash-for-clunkers-sales-pileu/">Escape</a> and Escape Hybrid, slipping in at No. 10. Toyota had a whopping five vehicles on the list, including the Prius and the Lexus <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/first-drive-2010-lexus-rx350-and-rx450h/">RX 350/RX Hybrid</a>. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/17/report-toyota-to-end-production-at-nummi-in-march/">Matrix</a> was No. 4, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/15/toyota-supra-is-doa-fj-cruiser-wont-be-refreshed-more-hybrids/">FJ Cruiser</a> No. 8, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/14/review-2009-toyota-rav4-sport/">RAV4</a> was No. 9. Said another way, "Thanks, Cash for Clunkers!"<br /><br />Oddly, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/29/hoping-to-snag-a-jetta-tdi-with-your-clunker-cash-sorry-too-la/">Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen TDI</a> didn't show up on Forbes' list. From our personal experience and reports from readers, the car is almost impossible to find due to production issues and demand -presumably that's because the study calculated days on lots for the entire Jetta lineup, not just specific models therein.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/">Beijing '08: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5h_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5g_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5f_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5e_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5d_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/31/popular-new-cars-lifestyle-vehicles-auto-sales.html">Forbes</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/07/i-forbes-i-names-12-hardest-new-cars-to-find/"><i>Forbes</i> names 12 hardest new cars to find</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 07 Sep 2009 12:31:00 EST. <br />
Volvo's new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/04/review-2010-volvo-xc60-delivers-on-looks-and-lux-handling-to/">XC60</a> sits at the top of the pack when it battles head-to-head against the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/la-2008-2009-audi-q5-makes-its-north-american-debut/">Audi Q5</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/13/mercedes-adjusting-glk-model-mix-options-list-to-kickstart-sale/">Mercedes-Benz GLK350</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/08/review-2010-cadillac-srx/">Cadillac SRX</a>, says Edmunds in its latest four-way comparison. The entrants, each new members of the expanding Compact Luxury Crossover segment, were all selected for the battle based on size and their less-than-$40,000 starting prices. Veterans such as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/05/2008-acura-rdx-a-sports-car-in-a-cuv-costume/">Acura RDX</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/06/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-bmw-x3-3-0si/">BMW X3</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/20/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-infiniti-ex35/">Infiniti EX35</a> were left home as they aren't rookies to the field.<br />
<br />
With a resolutely last place finish, the Cadillac SRX was clobbered over its outward visibility, weight, lack of overall space (despite being the largest of the bunch), and cramped second-row seating. The fact that the Edmund's test car was a base FWD model didn't help either. <br />
<br />
Tied for second place were the GLK350 and Q5, both praised for their power, ride, and handling. The Mercedes came up short in overall utility, while the Audi took some hits for its electric power steering. <br />
<br />
According to the testers, the XC60 "won by a hair" thanks to its generous cargo capacity, second-row comfort, and "safety features galore." While the Swede offered plenty of power, it suffered from poor fuel economy and less-than-satisfying handling. So, how did a not-fun-to-drive Volvo CUV climb to the top of the comparison (one that Edmunds says, "none of our editors would personally choose")? You'll have to <a href="http://blogs.edmunds.com/strategies/2009/08/comparison-test-audi-q5-cadillac-srx-mercedes-benz-glk350-volvo-xc60.html">read their story</a> to find out.<br />

The government, dealers and consumers don't seem to know exactly what's going on with the C.A.R.S. (Cash for Clunkers) program, but Audi doesn't want to lose any momentum and has decided it's the right time to "enhance the deal even further." <br />
<br />
From now until the end of August, if you want to swap your clunker for one of 18 eligible Audis, the Ingostadt marque will give you another $1,000 on top of the C.A.R.S. rebate. According to Audi, the allowable models include iterations of the A3, A4, TT, and Q5 from 2008 and 2009. However, there aren't any approved 2010 models, but if you've been thinking about something with four rings on it, August could be your month. <br />When Audi announced it would <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/23/audi-to-offer-turbod-2-0-liter-on-a5-this-summer/">begin offering the A5 with its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four for the 2010 model year</a>, we expected the manual-equipped entry-level model to be priced significantly lower than the current 3.2-liter, stick-shifted A5. Thankfully, Audi didn't disappoint. For $36,000* you'll be able to get behind the wheel of the A5 2.0T Quattro Coupe with a manual transmission in Premium trim, with the Premium Plus model commanding $39,500 and the Prestige variant priced at $44,300. Tack on an additional $1,200 onto each model's MSRP if you opt for the Tiptronic automatic gearbox.<br /><br />Depending on the trim, the 2010 Audi A4 2.0T is priced slightly higher, lower or the same as their corresponding 2009 models, although all new A4s include LED tail-lamps on Premium Plus and Prestige models. The 2010 Q5 3.2 FSI starts at $37,350* and can be had with all-new 20-inch five-spoke wheels, a choice of Fine Grain Ash or Natural Brown interior inlays and a new Luxury Package for the Prestige model that includes leather door armrests and IP, along with ventilated front seats swathed in Milano leather. <br /><br />Although Audi hasn't priced the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2010AudiS4/">2010 Audi S4</a>, it has released an on-sale date for its 333-hp sedan: August. Expect pricing to follow in the coming weeks.<br /><br />Make the jump for all the details and corresponding changes for the 2010 model year.<br /><br /><em><small>* Excludes $825 destination charge</small></em><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/">2009 Audi A5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/01-09-audi-a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/02-09-audi-a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/03-09-audi-a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/04-09-audi-a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-audi-a5-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/05-09-audi-a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/17/2010-audi-a4-a5-and-q5-priced-a5-2-0t-starting-at-36-000/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2010 Audi A4, A5 and Q5 priced, A5 2.0T starting at $36,000*</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/17/2010-audi-a4-a5-and-q5-priced-a5-2-0t-starting-at-36-000/">2010 Audi A4, A5 and Q5 priced, A5 2.0T starting at $36,000*</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 17 Jul 2009 19:33:00 EST. <br />Every year, Europe's Volkswagen and Audi faithful head to Austria and descend upon the W&ouml;rthersee for the annual GTI Meet, a huge annual gathering of the brands' aficionados. Over the past few years, the W&ouml;rthersee Tour has been home to the unveilings of several concept cars, such as the 650-horsepower <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/17/worthersee-2007-vw-shows-off-monster-golf-gti-w12-650-concept/">VW Golf GTI W12</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/speedster-redux-audi-tt-clubsport-quattro-concept/">Audi TT Clubsport</a>. For the 2009 edition of the meet, Audi has unveiled the Q5 Custom Concept - a slammed, primped and pimped version of Ingolstadt's new compact CUV. <br /><br />In addition to the obvious cosmetic changes meant to showcase Audi's range of factory accessories, the crossover packs a punch underhood, where a 408-horsepower version of the new, supercharged 3.0 TFSI six-cylinder resides. This configuration is supposedly good for a zero-to-60 sprint of just 4.4 seconds, and the speedo's needle will keep arcing to the right until an electro-nanny kicks in at 155 mph. Other mods to the show car include spendy ceramic brakes to help wrangle all those horses back into their paddock. <br /><br />The Audi stand will also be home to a boatload of other Audis from throughout the marque's history, including examples as varied as the legendary Ur-Quattro and the much more recent <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-audi-a1-sportback/">A1 Sportback concept</a>. In addition to the photos in the gallery below, Audi has a 1,500-word press release to go along with them. If you're so inclined, you can subject yourselves to <em>that </em>after the jump. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/">Audi Q5 Custom Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/q5custom_hi_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/q5custom_hi_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/q5custom_hi_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/q5custom_hi_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-custom-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/q5custom_hi_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/19/worthersee-2009-audi-q5-custom-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wörthersee 2009: 408-hp Audi Q5 Custom Concept</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/19/worthersee-2009-audi-q5-custom-concept/">Wörthersee 2009: 408-hp Audi Q5 Custom Concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 10:00:00 EST. <br />The first shipments of Audi's new Q5 crossover have barely hit the docks here in North America, and already the kid brother to the Q7 is set to get a sidekick of its own. In an official announcement released today, the VW Group luxury arm has confirmed that it will build a Q3 crossover in Martorell, Spain in 2011.<br /><br />The company plans to build around 80,000 units at the SEAT plant, but while production has been confirmed for Spain, the fortunes of a possible U.S. assembly facility have been put on ice. According to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler:<br /><blockquote><em>"We will systematically explore our options in the context of the current market crisis. Audi is in a good position. There is currently no urgent need to select additional sites.<br /></em></blockquote>Described by Audi as "A coup&eacute;-like five-door SUV with seat positions, wheel size, and ground clearance characteristic of a typical SUV," the Q3 is likely to look a lot like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/19/shanghai-motor-show-audi-reveals-the-cross-coupe-quattro/">2007's Cross Coupe Quattro Concept</a>, and it is expected to come to the North American market - even if it won't end up being built here. <br />Audi has finally announced U.S. pricing for its new Q5 mid-sized crossover. For America, there is currently only one powertrain combination available, a 3.2-liter FSI V6 with quattro all-wheel drive, and that comes with a starting price of $37,200. <br /><br />Just as Starbucks calls a small coffee "Tall", Audi's entry level Q5 is labeled as Premium. From there, you can go to Premium Plus specification or Prestige at $41,500 and a lofty $48,200 respectively. Add the $825 delivery charge, taxes, and other ancillary fees, and it should be easy to go well north of 50 grand. <br /><br />The Q5 comes standard with Audi's third generation MMI system that adds three-dimensional rendering to the nav display, as well as a 4,400-pound towing capacity. Q5s are expected to start arriving at dealers next week and the vehicle officially goes on sale in March. Official press release after the jump.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/">Beijing '08: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5h_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5g_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5f_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5e_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5d_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/">LA 2008: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_audi_q5_la_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_audi_q5_la_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_audi_q5_la_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_audi_q5_la_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2008-2009-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_audi_q5_la_live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/06/audi-prices-the-q5-for-america-starting-at-37-200/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi Q5 hits America carrying $37,200 MSRP</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/06/audi-prices-the-q5-for-america-starting-at-37-200/">Audi Q5 hits America carrying $37,200 MSRP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 06 Feb 2009 13:57:00 EST. The screen is now a seven-inch, 800x400 TFT display, being fed info from a high-capacity hard disk, a DVD drive, and an NVIDIA graphics chip. It also gets an eight-way joystick on the central knob, which means you can make mouse-like movements on the screen for point-and-click ease. In addition to all that, there are simpler vocal inputs, 3-D maps, a 10,000-number phone book, and two processors so that everything can run at the same time. It will arrive in the U.S. with the Q5 later this year, but in the mean time, you can get all the details in the lengthy press release after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/audi-details-new-mmi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi details new MMI</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/audi-details-new-mmi/">Audi details new MMI</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 16:01:00 EST. Audi has now reported that it broke through the 1 million unit mark last year, selling more vehicles than it ever has before. <br /><br />Total global sales in 2008 came to 1,003,400 vehicles - up 4.3% over last year - including 82,000 units in December. But while the American market has typically been a vital region for European premium marques especially, U.S. sales dropped 6.1% for Audi this year, and nearly 10% in December when U.S. sales accounted for less than 10% of the company's global sales. Ingolstadt attributes its sales success to the dozen new models it introduced last year, including the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/la-2008-2009-audi-q5-makes-its-north-american-debut/">Q5</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/06/first-drive-2008-audi-a4-on-the-autobahn-and-in-ibiza/">A4</a> (seen above). <em>Thanks to everyone who sent in the tip, and check out the press release after the jump.<br /></em><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/one-million-audi-fans-cant-be-wrong/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>One million Audi fans can't be wrong</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/one-million-audi-fans-cant-be-wrong/">One million Audi fans can't be wrong</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 09 Jan 2009 10:59:00 EST. <br />Although we've already seen the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AudiQ5/">Audi Q5</a> in a variety of forms after its initial unveiling in Beijing this past July, the four-ringers decided to finally show off their cute 'ute in North America for the first time at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/LAAutoShow/">LA Auto Show</a>. The compact(ish) CUV is packing the award-winning 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine putting out 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque through the seven-speed, dual-clutch S tronic transmission, and Audi is quick to point out that with a drag coefficient of just 0.33 and a turbocharged four, the Q5 will be one of the most fuel-efficient offerings in its class. The latest ride to get attention is the Audi Q5, and as you can see in the renderings ABT sent out, the body kit helps matters, because the showroom-trim Q5 is actually pretty <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/762760/">vanilla-looking</a>. The new visuals are backed up by a modified suspension, 20" wheels, more braking power, and performance upgrades for each available engine. Depending on which mill is nestled underhood, horsepower in the ABT-tuned Q5 ranges from 240 horsepower for the 2.0 TFSI all the way up to 310 horses for the 3.0 TDI with the Power S package. <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/abt-sportsline-audi-q5/low/">ABT Sportsline Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/abt-sportsline-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/abt_q5_128001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/abt-sportsline-audi-q5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/abt_q5_128002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.abt-sportsline.de/en/products/product-news/artikel/abt-q5-five-wows/">ABT Sportsline</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/24/abt-sportsline-tweaks-the-audi-q5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ABT Sportsline tweaks the Audi Q5</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/24/abt-sportsline-tweaks-the-audi-q5/">ABT Sportsline tweaks the Audi Q5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 24 Aug 2008 11:07:00 EST. The new Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, just <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/volkswagen-announces-plans-for-factory-in-chattanooga-tenn/">announced last week</a>, may be tasked with building upwards of 200,000 vehicles per year -- including the two Audis. Estimated to cost $973.5 million, the 1,359 acre plant is large enough to handle the domestic production for VW, Audi, and even shareholder Porsche... although the proud automaker from Stuttgart vehemently denies even considering it. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/">New Audi A4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/au002927_l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/au002928_l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/au002929_l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/au002930_l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-audi-a4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/au002931_l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/">Beijing '08: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5h_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5g_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5f_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5e_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5d_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20080728/ANE02/345631394/1177/rss02&amp;rssfeed=rss02">Automotive News</a> - Sub. Consumers outside the U.S., get to choose between one of two diesel-sipping TDIs -- of 170 hp and 240 hp -- that are the envy of Stateside quattrophiles. Even with that 240 hp and 369 lb-ft, you'll still get 31 MPG. Folks in the fifty U.S. will need to make do with the 211 hp, 2.0-liter V6 FSI... which isn't exactly a complaint. <br /><br />The vehicle wrapped around those engines is a study in efficiency, from the power steering pump to the energy recovery to the .33 coefficient of drag. The full press release is after the jump -- it's probably the only one you'll read this year that mentions a "holistic optimization of energy." And be sure to check out the gallery of hi-res images below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/">Beijing '08: 2009 Audi Q5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5h_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5g_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5f_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5e_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-0-and-8-20_-and-and09-au-di-q-5/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/04/q5d_medium_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/17/audi-releases-all-the-details-on-the-north-american-q5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Audi releases all the details on the North American Q5</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/17/audi-releases-all-the-details-on-the-north-american-q5/">Audi releases all the details on the North American Q5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 17 Jul 2008 15:32:00 EST. <p>Audi released the other half of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/19/beijing-motor-show-officially-official/">Q5</a> glamour shots over the weekend. We've updated the gallery with all of the images we could get our hands on (<em>you can switch to a "high-res" view with the button on the upper right corner - perfect for saving desktops</em>). Audi also tossed in several shots from the Q5's world introduction at the Beijing Auto Show. We always get a kick out of the designers, engineers, and executives standing around like beaming new parents. From our perspective, the Q5 looks like a typical Audi, the designs of which are beginning to lose their visual punch after having been spread across so many models. <br /></p>

Now, we finally have the official news on the latest entry from Ingolstadt. Unlike its big brother the Q7, the Q5 doesn't share an architecture with a VW model. The Q5 utilizes the same underpinnings as the A5 coupe and A4 sedan/wagon. That means the Q5 has a longitudinally mounted engine rather than the transverse powerplant found in the smaller VW Tiguan.<br id="vjma" /><br id="w-07" />While we were in Germany to drive the new A4, Audi invited us into their design center in Ingolstadt to check out their new virtual reality design system and have a look at the Q5 in the metal, prior to its official coming out party in Beijing. Compared to the Q7, the Q5 looks substantially more compact than its hefty sibling and is much tidier design overall, keeping with Audi's current pretensions of being a premium sporting brand. The German rag cited unspecified China-based sources for the information, but Audi isn't answering any questions ahead of the reveal tomorrow. The Q5 is due to hit dealers in Europe later this summer and sales are expected to begin in the States towards the beginning of next year. As is always the case with some of the German auto rags, we're unsure if these are official images from Audi or clever photoshops, but the proportions and details look spot-on.<br /><br />The front end seems to be a nice amalgamation of the Audi A4 and the Q7 fascias, while everything aft of the A-pillar looks like the Q5's big brother at two-thirds scale. The rear light arrangement is something that seems to be carried over from Audi's show vehicles, including the Cross Cabriolet Concept.<br /><br />We'll have all the details about the Audi Q5 when it's officially unveiled next month in Geneva. <em>Thanks for the tip Tom!</em><br /><br />[Source: Autobild via Autoblog Spanish]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-autobild-scans/low/">Audi Q5 - Autobild Scans</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-autobild-scans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/audiq5_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-autobild-scans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/audiq5_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q5-autobild-scans/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/audiq5_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/i-autobild-i-supposedly-unveils-audi-q5/"><i>Autobild</i> supposedly unveils Audi Q5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 15:32:00 EST. <p>The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/27/spy-shots-audi-q5-barely-covered/">Audi Q5</a> is coming to the city by the sea in November. The big, upscale brother to the VW Tiguan sits on the Modular Long Platform from the A5, and enters the MMA ring with the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK. It is expected to get a wide variety of engines, from the marque's FSI fours, to diesels and perhaps even the 4.2-liter V8. It might also get a 6-speed manual, but no third row seating.</p>
