<br />It's no great secret that the European Union's patent office has more leaks than a Soviet submarine, but up until now it's only been small cars that have been able to trickle out (see: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/13/eu-patent-office-leaks-2009-mazda-mx-5-facelift/">facelifted Mazda MX-5</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/18/leaked-nissan-370z-roadster-patent-drawings/">Nissan 370Z Roadster</a>). But the dam seems to be giving way as a whole Mercedes limousine has managed to squeeze though and into the public realm, and our European compatriots at Autoblog Spanish have got the sketches to prove it.<br /><br />Like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/13/thats-a-stretch-mercedes-e-class-limo-spied/">spy shots we've seen before</a>, these patent sketches provide further proof that Mercedes is preparing to launch a stretched Pullman version of its new E-Class. Several extension options are apparently being prepared, ranging from a modest wheelbase extension all the way up to a full extra set of doors. Expect all manner of luxury equipment to find its way into the enlarged cabin, from entertainment systems and courtesy lighting to power reclining seats and fold-down picnic tables for that ultimate Grey Poupon experience. <em>Click the thumbnails below to view the patent drawings in high resolution.</em><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/">Mercedes-Benz Clase E Pullman (OAMI)</a></strong></p><a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/clase_e_limu__filt_00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/clase_e_limu__filt_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/clase_e_limu__filt_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/clase_e_limu__filt_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://es.autoblog.com/photos/filtraci-n-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-gen-ticos-con-el-clase-e/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/clase_e_limu__filt_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://es.autoblog.com/2009/04/30/filtracion-mercedes-y-sus-experimentos-geneticos-con-el-clase-e/">Autoblog Spanish</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/mercedes-benz-e-class-pullman-drawings-leak-from-european-patent/">Mercedes-Benz E-Class Pullman drawings leak from European patent office</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 04 May 2009 09:27:00 EST. That's what Ettore Bugatti once reportedly called Bentleys. Of course, that was long before the two companies fell under common ownership of <em>ze Germans</em>, when Bugatti's own engine was itself used for a locomotive. But Bugatti's derisive summation of his erstwhile arch-rival may be coming full circle.</p>
<p>For its recent Bentley Worldwide Conference, the luxury automaker chartered a first-class Pullman train car to transport its best customers and top dealers in comfort and style from London to its headquarters in Crewe. The two-and-a-half-hour ride was catered with meals by famous chef Anton Mosimann and proved to be a big success. So big, in fact, that Bentley is now considering going full time with the train service to bring customers up to the factory from London to specify their trim and color options. There are several luxury trains available for charter in England, but we think it'd be much cooler if Bentley were to commission its own rail cars and decorate each compartment in different interior trim options available on its road cars. How about a Mulliner-spec Caboose? We'll just have to sit tight to see what Bentley decides to offer its poshest of clientele, but in the meantime you can check out the press release after the jump.</p>

<p>Short of riding around in a tank, among the highest levels of protection while motoring are provided by armored Mercedes-Benz. The German automaker has been protecting heads of state and captains of industry for 80 years now, and to mark the anniversary has officially released the new S600 Pullman Guard limousine, which was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/23/size-matters-mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine-in-deve/">initially announced</a> way back in February 2007.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/1051265/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-web1.jpg" alt="" /></a>Based on a stretched version of the standard, off-the-shelf S600, the Pullman is engineered right off the assembly line to withstand handgun fire, grenades and explosive charges to the stringent B6 and B7 ballistic protection standards. The extra weight of all that armor is pulled around by Mercedes' top-of-the-line 517-hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12 and is further supported by run-flat tires, a self-sealing fuel tank and integrated fire suppression system. Of course, the stretched limousine can be specified with all manner of luxury equipment, coddling its occupants in security <em>and</em> opulence. All that protection and luxury surely doesn't come cheap, but for wealthy public figures under threat, price is presumably no object. However, Mercedes also offers an armored E Guard and G Guard as well as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/17/mercedes-beefs-up-s-class-with-s600-guard/">standard-wheelbase S600 Guard</a>.<br /></p>

The new Pullman Limousine will be based on the S600 long wheelbase Guard model, which means it will have a B6/B7 resistance level as certified by various state organizations. This means it will be able to stop anything short of a direct hit from would be terrorists trying to harm its upper crust occupants. This thing won't have sheetmetal, it'll have armor, in addition to a fully reinforced body structure, run flat tires, a self-healing fuel tank and on board fire-extinguishing system. Of course, being stretched like silly puddy and armed to the hilt adds a bit of weight, so power will be provided by 5.5L twin-turbo twelve-cylinder engine generating 517 hp and 612 ft-lbs. of torque. That should be enough for the well trained chauffeur to motor his four dignitaries out of harms way in a hurry. While Mercedes-Benz didn't divulge the new Pullman's price, we're guessing its something only a government could afford. <br /><br />[Source: Mercedes-Benz]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/">Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard Pullman Limousine</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/pullman-guard-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/23/size-matters-mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine-in-deve/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Size Matters: Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard Pullman limousine in development</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/23/size-matters-mercedes-benz-s600-guard-pullman-limousine-in-deve/">Size Matters: Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard Pullman limousine in development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 23 Feb 2007 15:03:00 EST. The latest preview comes from Chrysler, which will be showing this stretched version of the 300C called the Pullman, a name that refers to various models of stretched Mercedes-Benz limos over the years. The wheelbase on this thing looks even longer than the 126-inch span on the 300 Long Wheelbase, though Mike Ellis tells us that the concept is actually another variant of the 300C that swaddles its occupants in luxury like the Imperial concept, which got mixed reviews for its chunky styling at the 2006 Detroit auto show. Like the Imperial, the Pullman also features rear suicide doors to aid entry into this big, rear-wheel drive sedan, as well as to give us photogs on the floor an unobstructed view of the interior. The roof is long enough to support two full sunroofs, and the wheels have also grown to size 22-inch TIS chrome rims wearing Diamondback tires. Chrysler did address the Pullman's power and performance by tapping the aftermarket for a Bassani dual cat-back exhaust, Hotchkiss Sportline suspension that lowers the vehicle on those giant rims, and a K&amp;N cold air intake.
