We've heard it enough that it does no good griping about it further - the nifty Hyundai i30 three-door we just saw in the metal at the Paris Motor Show isn't crossing the Atlantic. Those who will get the i30 can now watch it in rolling glory, with Hyundai finally releasing promotional footage of its newest hatch.

Slightly restyled to put design room between it and the five-door i30, a 126-horsepower four-cylinder is the highlighted engine among a wide range of powerplants mated to either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. You can see how she runs in the video below.
Continue reading First footage of the Hyundai i30 three-door, US watches from afar

First footage of the Hyundai i30 three-door, US watches from afar originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 15 Nov 2012 09:00:00 EST.
Back when the world was a kinder, simpler place, carmakers made all kinds of thrilling-at-the-time <strike>propaganda</strike> promotional reels that we now derive no end of joy from. It was a time when a company could film its 80-horsepower sedan driving over a railroad trestle, like the one in the picture, and not worry about getting sued when someone actually did it and ended up in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chevrolet did one such vid that looked at company developments all around the country, including a bunch of octogenarian workers visiting Baltimore to receive the keys to the city. And In the year's first great display of meta, the video from 1935 then goes on to take an incredulous look at car advertisements from 1898 and 1899. Follow the jump for six minutes of American glory in black-and-white.

Tiger Woods GM-owned Cadillac Escalade, post crash - Click above for high-res image gallery

The world's most infamous 2009 Cadillac Escalade, the one Tiger Woods drove into a hydrant and then a tree early in the morning of November 27, is heading to the body shop for repairs. Interestingly enough, the Escalade isn't owned by Tiger Woods - it's part of GM's promotional fleet. After the golfer's deal with Buick ended last year, Tiger made a deal with the automaker to keep a few cars for his personal use. His choices included a Buick Enclave and Cadillac Escalade... the black SUV that is now sporting a mangled front end and missing a couple rear windows.

As it's a promotional/marketing vehicle, the SUV goes back to GM for the automaker to decide its fate. Depending on the severity of the repairs, it may head back into the loaner fleet... or it may be replaced by a new vehicle. If it is replaced, the now-repaired Escalade will be pulled from rotation and sent to auction where it goes to the highest bidder. Of course, we can only imagine what the Cadillac would bring on eBay in its current shattered state.
The deal is mostly for signage on the field and concourse, along with Yankees promo materials, with some display dates thrown in (as with the Audi deal) on Babe Ruth Plaza. Ford hasn't said how long the partnership will last, but we suppose it's best to throw coin at promoting trucks and SUVs with the way gas prices are right now. With the new Yankee stadium giving up a record number of homers, maybe Ford can knock it out of the park as well. You can check out Ford's press release after the jump.
Continue reading Ford named Official Truck and SUV of Yankees

Ford named Official Truck and SUV of Yankees originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 24 Apr 2009 08:01:00 EST.
Most commercials we see on television pitch products like soft drinks and toilet paper - you know, the kind of things that most people buy and most people can afford. There's certainly no shortage of car commercials, either, but they likewise typically focus on mass-market automobiles like the Volkswagen Rabbit or Dodge Caliber. But a commercial for a million-dollar supercar?

The superlative Carrera GT is a piece of automotive excellence that can speak for itself, but the fellas down in Stuttgart evidently felt it deserved a promo ad and threw this one together. The video after the jump draws on Porsche's innovations and racing experience to introduce the race-bred Carrera GT, highlighting its lightweight V10 engine, carbon ceramic brakes and ceramic clutch.

Okay, Porsche, we're sold.

The Hyundai Tiburon has won a lot of fans that want a stylish sports coupe at a bargain price. Having unveiled its latest revised version at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China and then in Paris, the Korean carmaker has hit us with this promotional video.

The clip features some artful cinematography, placing the new Coupe (as it's plainly called in overseas markets) in dramatic settings to highlight its styling. Some of the car's features, like the blue LED instruments, six-speed shifter and air intake hole (yes, "air intake hole" is considered a feature now) are underscored in the promo video, which ends with the question, "What do you worship?" While we doubt many people would testify "a Hyundai" in response to that question, the video's still worth watching.
