Click above for a hi-res gallery of the Peugeot Prologue concept

Peugeot's new, Paris-bound hybrid concept car is called the Prologue, and based on how Peugeot describes it in the press release that accompanied these three photos, it shows us where the French automaker is headed stylistically and technologically. The Prologue is a perfectly normal-looking 5-door hatchback with a new, less-horrific take on the gaping-maw look with which the Peugeot range has been saddled in recent years. Now it just looks angry, instead of like a boxer about to spit out his mouth guard. The Prologue's hybrid powertrain is apparently good for 200 horsepower and emits 109 g/km of CO2 per kilometer. We'll have the final word on the Prologue -- an epilogue, so to speak -- from the Paris Motor Show next month.

Gallery: Peugeot Prologue Concept

[Source: Peugeot]
Continue reading Paris Preview: Peugeot Prologue concept

Paris Preview: Peugeot Prologue concept originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 15:01:00 EST. Equally legendary for gaming enthusiasts is the Gran Turismo series, which is the best-selling Playstation game of all time, and the mother of all digital racing competitions. GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi, not surprisingly a hard-core car enthusiast, got behind the wheel of the Nissan GT-R and hit 193 mph just for kicks.

Hit the jump for video of Yamauchi racing around a wet Nurburgring in the GT-R. The legendary game creator held his own on the daunting track in very bad conditions, and the GT-R looks and sounds devilish as it pounds through the 'Ring's challenging bends. During his ten laps of the 'Ring, Yamauchi hit .6 on the G-meter when the GT-R forcefully kicked out on him, which rightfully scared the daylights out of him. Yamauchi also said that driving the GT-R was less like driving a thoroughbred and more like sitting astride a lion. While we don't think Yamauchi has ever driven a lion, but we get the point. He also said that playing Gran Turismo helped him keep a good racing line on the 'Ring, which prompted this blogger to immediately get GT5 Prologue (true story).

[Source: YouTube]
Continue reading VIDEO: Gran Turimso creator takes the GT-R up to 193 mph

VIDEO: Gran Turimso creator takes the GT-R up to 193 mph originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 30 Apr 2008 19:02:00 EST. Now, we've got the details about what vehicles you'll be able to virtually flog while battling out with 16 other contenders around Suzuka.

Seven vehicles are available, including the BMW 135i, Daihatsu OFC-1 (?), Lexus IS-F, Mazda Atenza (Mazda6), Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR, Nissan GT-R and the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. As mentioned, only one track will be available: Suzuka.

Also of note, Sony has plans to unveil a new car between the 23rd and 25th, but it's anyone's guess what that could be. The maker of our favorite electronic crack will also be showing off its new free news service geared towards auto coverage and motorsports.

[Source: GTChannel]
What GT5 Prologue has in store for you originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 17:02:00 EST.
The Gran Turismo series is one of the most successful franchises in all of gamedome, and the racing game's fifth installment will be available in Japan on December 13, just two weeks before Christmas. If that seems like a long time to wait for GT5's release, we have some good news. Demos of the game with the same great graphics as the final version will be sold on the Sony store, but they cost a despicable $43.10 on Blu-ray. If you want to go cheap, you can download the game from the Sony store for only $38.95. We remember back to a time when demos were given away for free to entice potential customers to buy the full version. If the demo is worth $43, we're sure that the full game will be worth skipping it in favor of the real thing, even if it takes until Christmas.
