For Episode #148 of the Autoblog Podcast, Jon Linkov, <em>Consumer Reports</em> managing editor for autos, fills Sam's chair and mulls some timely topics with Chris and Dan. First up is the wheels coming off <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/30/penske-walks-away-from-saturn-deal-cant-gaurantee-future-produ/">Penske's deal to take on the Saturn brand</a>. <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/30/tokyo-preview-near-production-honda-cr-z-concept-unveiled/">Honda's CRZ concept</a>, holding great promise in its CRX-like bodywork, comes under scrutiny next, before talk turns to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/05/pics-aplenty-plus-video-chevrolet-caprice-ppv-on-patrol/">Chevrolet Caprice police vehicle</a>. There's a tire discussion in there somewhere that takes the 'cast on a tangent, and the <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/05/report-audi-plans-to-produce-e-tron-begin-testing-prototypes-w/">Audi E-Tron</a> surfaces briefly before we touch on some Buff Book tricks: The <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/05/lincoln-mks-ecoboost-earns-second-place-in-6versus8-com-showdown/"><em>Motor Trend</em> and <em>Automobile</em> effort 6 vs. 8</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/05/i-car-and-driver-i-drawing-flack-over-photoshopped-bmw-x6-m-d/"><em>Car &amp; Driver's</em> fun with Photoshop</a>. As always, we wrap with some questions as we ride off into the sunset. Thanks for listening, drop us more fodder at <strong>Podcast at Autoblog dot com</strong>, and let us know how we're doing by adding a review at the iTunes page and filling out our <a href="http://www.podtrac.com/audience/start-survey.aspx?pubid=JRJrA-gkKy4$&amp;amp;ver=standard">survey</a>. As the Charger is the leading volume vehicle for Chrysler LLC in the Middle East, the choice doesn't come as much of a surprise. Delivery of the cop cars, however, isn't expected to take place for another couple months. In the meantime, the lot of them are heading to Canfield Equipment Service in Michigan where they'll be fitted for their new Kuwaiti roles in traffic, security, and emergency response. (<em>Here's hoping none of our readers get a chance to check them out from the back seat once they're in service</em>). </p>

The off-roader is essentially a special-use vehicle that will be used around Melbourne and other venues to help promote a snow safety campaign during the ski season. (Remember folks, it's winter down there now.) Now, after a long day of promoting snow safety to the masses, we wonder if the fuzz can suppress the urge to use the Jeep for some winter-weather hooning when no one's looking. You know, as research on what <em>not</em> to do.<br /><br />[Source: Jeep Australia]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/">Australian Police Jeep Wrangler CRD</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/victpdwrangler_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/victpdwrangler_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/victpdwrangler_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/victpdwrangler_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/australian-police-jeep-wrangler-crd/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/victpdwrangler_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/03/aussie-police-get-jeep-wrangler-crd/">Aussie police get Jeep Wrangler CRD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Aug 2007 11:03:00 EST. Granted, many of the features that make it a good police truck are part of what make the new GMT900 SUVs good vehicles anyway, but it still features its share of specific elements for the boys in blue. <br /><br />They include a lowered, stiffened suspension, an upfit-ready electrical system, high-capacity radiator, oil cooler, heavy duty brakes with ABS, a skid plate package, tire pressure monitoring system, long-life spark plugs, and an upgraded battery (or two). Power comes from the E85-capable 5.3L Vortec V8 with 320 horsepower. The Tahoe's substantial size also enables officers to haul a lot of stuff inside. <br /><br />We get excited about police cars. Maybe it's the painted steel wheels, aggressive rubber, and lowered stance -- we're not sure. Whatever it is, it brings out the kid in us, though, and we dig the looks of the new Tahoe as trimmed out for the fuzz. <br /><br />It's something we're more than content to enjoy from a distance, though. We like police cars less when they're right in our rearview mirrors, and under no circumstances do we want to be invited for a ride in the back seat...<br /><br />(Rear view, full press release after the jump)<br /><br />[Source: GM]<span style="font-style: italic;"></span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/06/chevys-arresting-2007-police-tahoe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chevy's arresting 2007 Police Tahoe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/06/chevys-arresting-2007-police-tahoe/">Chevy's arresting 2007 Police Tahoe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 06 Dec 2006 09:36:00 EST.
