The Morgan Motor Company has been building vehicles since 1909 and built its first proper car - as opposed to a three-wheeler, or cyclecar - in 1936. That was the 4/4, and although it's been joined by seven other models, it is still being made today.

The Plus 8 is one of those other models, and the Telegraph sent a crew to watch it being made. An eight-cylinder version of the Plus 4 (the Plus 4 has a larger four-cylinder engine than the 4/4), it takes 30 days to produce each sample - hand-fashioning the wooden body in the image above is just one reason why. No need to spend the month watching, though, for the Telegraph has edited the process down to two delightful minutes for your enjoyment in the video below.
Continue reading Watch a Morgan Plus 8 be hand-crafted in two minutes

Watch a Morgan Plus 8 be hand-crafted in two minutes originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 26 Dec 2012 14:59:00 EST.
A handful of Morgan owners recently received word that the automaker is releasing a new version of the its Plus 8 ahead of next year's Geneva Motor Show. The refreshed Plus 8 will feature wheels borrowed from the Series IV Aero 8 along with air conditioning as standard equipment. Those who prefer to leave cog swopping to hydraulics will enjoy an available automatic transmission. Otherwise, the vehicle remains fairly close to what we've come to expect from the stately 8. A total of eight colors will be available along with a wide selection of interior wood finishes.

According to the TalkMorgan.com forums, buyers can expect to hand over £71,000 plus the value added tax ($112,165 at current conversion rates). Final figures on how many Plus 8 models will be produced are still vague, though it looks as if the company will keep the numbers small.
Morgan reveals new Plus 8 originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 19 Oct 2011 17:30:00 EST.
