The Jaguar F-Type is slinking its way into vastly divergent corners of the celebrity world. Lana del Rey is its songstress, Englishman-playing-American-terrorist Damien Lewis lead its cinematic debut in Desire, San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick gets the athletic endorsement, and now it's just been driven behind the "Adults Only" doors at the Playboy Mansion: Raquel Pomplun was gifted a year's use of an F-Type for being named 2013 Playmate of the Year.

Vaunted men's magazine Playboy knows that its readers are nearly as interested in cars as they are in the female anatomy... sorry, we thought we could write that with a straight face. Anyway, the buff-book does occasionally fill some of its spreads with sexy metal, to accent all the rest of the sexiness.

To wit, the magazine has unveiled its feature on the 2013 Cars of the Year. Without giving us much in the way of criteria for the awards, nor a clear framing of the categories ("Responsible Ride" is a particularly challenging concept, especially when you consider that the Mazdaspeed3 was the winner), Playboy has nevertheless highlighted what we assume to be it's favorite 12 or 13 (depending on how you count) cars from the 2013 model year.

Headlining the class is the Porsche 911, which Playboy writers single out for having "remarkable electronic voodoo." BMW M5 is named "Slickest Sports Sedan" though the Cadillac ATS then follows on because "we couldn't resist giving the new Caddy a shout-out." The rest of the picks are pretty conventional (save, perhaps, the Honda Fit EV as "Ace Electric"), even if the categories and methodology are fairly wonky. Lists. Readers love 'em, so everyone's got one. (Heck, our show is even called The List.) And this is the Playboy list, packed with two-seat sports cars, muscle cars, obvious choices and even the original Volkswagen Beetle.

Before we get to the full 25, however, hear out our view. While you can always register your personal displeasure when, say, the MG TC (#14) or Chrysler 300 (#19) gets included, but not a single Alfa Romeo or classic Mopar muscle machine makes the cut, you should judge a list such as this based more on how it reflects the personality of the publication. Which is why "25 Greatest Rides" feels so, well, generic.

While we're not suggesting that every one of the Playboy cars should be sporting Dagmars or have fully reclining seats like Nash models of the early '50s, this list just seems a little light on the sex. Not that the Ferrari GTO (#1) and Jaguar E-Type (#4) aren't voluptuous enough to act as stand-ins for the Playmate of the Month, but cars like the BMW 2002 (#24) and Pontiac GTO (#20), though legitimate performance cars, aren't likely to inspire any backseat antics anytime soon.

Playboy has been around since 1953 for a reason: It's an arbiter of good taste in the arena of male interests. Sure, that includes naked ladies, but it also encompasses fashion, movies, music and any other consumable that tugs at the heart strings of a man's billfold. The fashionable male of the modern era also consumes cars, and so Playboy has an opinion about which ones are worthy of their hard-earned dollars. Each year the magazine's resident four-wheel expert, Ken Gross, and its editors pick their cars of the year, and this year's list is out in the January/February issue hitting newsstands now.

We'll spoil the surprise between the pages and tell you that the magazine's overall 2012 Car of the Year is the Jaguar XKR-S. A solid pick to be sure, and an impressive win for Jag considering its company on Playboy's short list.

The Lamborghini Aventador and Bentley Continental GTC occupy the six-figure side of the list's price spectrum, while solid luxury sedans choices like the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG offer room for some family and friends. If a sports car is what you're after, Playboy recommends the BMW 1 Series M and Ford Mustang Boss 302, while the budget-conscious among its readership should look at the Fiat 500 and Hyundai Veloster. While the list contains no serious off-roader, one could venture off your tree-lined driveway with the magazine's choice of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, and last but not least is the Lexus CT 200h for those looking for luxury, performance, practicality and fuel efficiency in one gloriously compromised package.

Russian automaker Dartz is the automotive equivalent of The Jersey Shore. It produces the tackiest products that you can't stop looking at or watching. Case in point: this latest video from Dartz, which highlights the ladies-only armored Prombron Iron Diamond SUV, a Playboy bunny from the Latvian version of the magazine's September issue and a bottle of Russo-Baltique vodka that might just cost more than the car.

Click past the jump for the video, but turn down your speakers before you do. Whoever put the clip together decided to twist the sound level to 11, which could make for unwanted attention in the office. Also, the music has lots and lots of language that's not safe for work.

Playboy (which we're not ashamed to admit we read for more than the articles) has compiled a list of its favorite classic vehicles. The article, entitled Vintage Thunder, features six vehicles picked to earn a spot in the magazine's fantasy garage.

Three American and three Europeans make the cut, all of which are beautifully illustrated by Etienne Carignan. The upper end of the price spectrum is claimed by the BMW 507 (shown above) while the least expensive on the list is the split-window 1963 Chevrolet Corvette. To some, drifting is kinda sorta a non-sport. After all, the winning car isn't necessarily the one that crosses the finish line ahead of all others, and the vehicles themselves were created on purpose to be ill-handling, tail-happy smoke generators.

Somehow, we have a feeling all those ills would be forgiven by the detractors if the cars were piloted by naked Playboy models.

And so we bring you the video after the break. We'll go ahead and label this one not-safe-for-work-ish... while there technically isn't any nudity shown on camera, the model clearly is performing these smoky antics sans clothing. Oh, and of course she doesn't know how to drive a stick.

We'll say no more, and we'll leave all those rather obvious double entendres to you. Click past the break to see co-ed naked drifting's first (completely non-sanctioned) clothing optional event.

There are now so many Car of the Year awards given out that the whole idea of one vehicle being honored above all others has lost its impact. But when the giver of said award is Playboy Magazine, well, the honor means a little more. Why? Because Playboy doesn't pick a winner based on such tangible criteria as horsepower, miles per gallon or MSRP. They don't care so much about the fastest, greenest or most significant car in its segment. They care about cool. Which car is going to get you to that VIP event and make all eyes turn towards you on arrival? For 2010, Playboy says that car is the Porsche Panamera.

We can absolutely understand where Playboy is coming from here. You just have to imagine yourself as Hugh Hefner: Porsches are both cool and fast, but a Porsche that can accommodate me, my smoking jacket and three bunnies is worthy of a place in the Playboy Mansion garage and perhaps an X-rated car wash in the driveway.

Playboy gave out eight other awards in such categories as Best Horsepower Value (Nissan 370Z), Best Mean and Green (Ford Fusion Hybrid) and Best Reborn Beauty (Ford Taurus SHO) among others. You can check them all out in the press release after the jump, and while we're not sure how many automakers will place their new Playboy awards front and center in the corporate trophy case, we're sure behind close doors they're... well, let's not talk about what they're doing behind closed doors.

The bunny wranglers over at Playboy are no strangers to fine automobiles, as high-end exotics often grace the glossy pages of America's favorite gentleman's magazine. The Playboy empire even goes racing, sponsoring no fewer than six cars in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and the Grand-Am Cup Series. Maybe more so than at any other show besides SEMA, the girls are just as important as the cars at the Hot Import Nights shows. And when you're talking about the VIP version of HIN, the quality should be kicked up a notch, and we weren't disappointed. The lovely ladies of L.A. included professional models, car chicks, race drivers, employees who just felt like strutting their stuff while discussing their products, even a few Playboy bunnies. Not all of them were locals, some we talked to were from the East Coast, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, and Washington. The individual vendor booths had some of their own crew while the event itself had its fashion show models and the Miss HIN regional contestants competing for the Queen of the Scene title, plus there were plenty of dolled up girlfriends and wives draping themselves across their SO's vehicles. It was quite a gathering. As with the vehicles we showed you a few days ago, variety is the spice of life and beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, so rather than subject these gals to your personal taste expressions, we are leaving comments off for this gallery. On this week's episode, Damon and I break down what occurred between Mazda and the RX-8 community late last week. We also go over the new GMT900 pickups and how new battle lines are being drawn in the pickup wars thanks to high gas prices. We couldn't let the week go by with talking about Playboy, as well. This month's issue of the men's magazine was chock full bunnies, Rabbits and high-priced exotics. We end the show expressing our lament for another Enzo that has bitten the dust and give our best wishes to its owners, Richard Losee, who is recovering after he and his Ferrari crashed at 200 mph and rolled seven times on a highway in Utah. Volkswagen is really playing up the promiscuity of its small car's namesake, so much so that a promotional tie-in with that bastion of bachelorhood, Playboy, was inevitable. The September issue of the magazine features a back cover with a reverse angle shot of the front cover showing the backsides of three Playboy bunnies. The bunny in the middle, Holly Madison (who is also the queen bunny of Hugh Hefner's triplet of girlfriends), sports a tattoo on her lower back of a red VW Rabbit logo with copy that reads "The Volkswagen Rabbit. It's Back."

Volkswagen originally wanted to replace the traditional hidden Playboy bunny logo on the magazine's front cover with the Rabbit's logo. Playboy, however, nixed that idea, so VW's agency, MDC Partners' Crispin Porter + Bogusky, came up with the idea of hijacking the adult magazines back cover.
