100AFVI 2010: T. Boone Pickens believes God gave the U.S. our natural gas supplies

T. Boone Pickens may not know exactly what's up with V-Vehicles, a company that he's invested in that wants to make high-mileage vehicles, but he does claim to know some things. During his opening keynote speech at the AFVI Expo in Las Vegas, for example, the long-time oilman and big natural gas promoter said that he thinks God put tremendous amounts of the fossil fuel under the United States for us to use. Specifically, he said:

28Pickens pushing for NAT GAS plan, wants to move semis to natural gas

When T. Boone Pickens introduced his Pickens Plan back in 2008, the two big power sources included were wind power and natural gas. In the middle of last year, the wind portion died down and we haven't heard a lot from oil-man Pickens about his renewable energy cause since then. Now, it looks like Pickens' natural gas mission is still going strong and he is promising some sort of Natural Gas Act legislation by Memorial Day. We don't know what Pickens knows, but we do know that he's met with Pres

25T. Boone Pickens' wind farm plan dies out

T. Boone Pickens has spent $60 million in the last year promoting the "Pickens Plan," an idea for a giant wind farm in Texas. Now, the billionaire oil man is saying he will postpone the project for at lesat a couple of years. The first hints that things weren't going as planned came last November, when PIckens couldn't get a loan to finance the farm. Pickens made the delay official yesterday, blaming the tight financial markets and trouble distributing the energy that was to be generated. The 81

11California renewable energy Proposition 10 (and T. Boone Pickens) defeated

We heard plenty about the results of some of the various races and ballot measures around the country over the past couple of days. However, there was one ballot proposal in California that didn't get much attention outside of the state but might be of interest around these parts. Proposition 10 would have provided for the sale of $5 billion in bonds that would be used to invest in renewable energy projects in the state along with consumer incentives for alternative energy vehicles. With the int

23Join T. Boone Pickens for an "online rally" over the energy plan tonight

The second U.S. presidential candidate debate is tonight, and it's likely that energy policy will come up in some fashion. Central casting's best-named oil man, T. Boone Pickens, wants to make sure the debate starts a bigger discussion on energy use in America and so he is hosting an "online rally" tonight during and following the debate. Barack Obama and John McCain are scheduled to being a 9 p.m. EST, and that's when the rally starts as well.

48T. Boone Pickens unveils "The Plan" - big on wind power and natural gas

If you listened to or read our post on T. Boone Pickens speaking at the AFVI Expo in May, then you know that he's a big proponent of wind power and natural gas (some say he needs to learn more about hydrogen cars). Mr. Swift Boat is all over the media today because of an announcement regarding something called "The Plan," Pickens' big new idea to shift some of the $700b the U.S. spends each year on foreign oil into increasing domestic energy production. Unsurprisingly, Pickens says that wind and
