<br />When playing car racing video games, do you find yourself choosing vehicles or brands that you've owned in the past? We are definitely guilty as charged on this count, but it seems that this sort of logic works the other way too. People that play popular games like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/gt5">Gran Turismo</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/pgr4/">Project Gotham Racing</a> have shown an affinity towards real-life vehicles that they used in the gaming realm. Subaru WRX or Mitsubishi Evolution anyone?<br /><br /><em>Financial Post</em> researchers recently conducted a brief study that put people in front of gaming consoles running car racing simulators. Other people were placed in separate rooms where the games were being broadcast, but not played. Afterward, both groups were surveyed, and the results were eye opening. Those that played the video games responded that they were 50% more likely to purchase vehicles that they used in the video games than those that just watched.<br /><br />Sure, these results don't necessarily prove anything, but <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/03/citroen-gt-concept-now-available-on-gt5-prologue/">automakers</a> and advertisers have certainly taken notice. Current estimates put the in-game advertising market at $1.8 billion within the next few years.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/">Gran Turismo 5 Prologue</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/gran-turismo-5-prologue-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/tamora_006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.financialpost.com/executive/story.html?id=1222045">Financial Post</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/09/study-says-driving-cars-in-video-games-builds-positive-brand-rel/">Study suggests driving cars in video games could lead to more purchases in real-life</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 09 Feb 2009 16:56:00 EST. <p>Project Gotham Racing 4 has the video game version of the question, "Is it real or is it Memorex?" They've created a split-screen video of the latest Gotham racer next to actual hi-def footage of the live cars churning through the streets of New York City. When it comes to the car scenes, even when you know which one is live and which is video, there's still the occasional flicker of doubt. Watching it, it's hard to believe we ever got excited about a game called Pong.</p>
<p><em>Thanks for the tip, zizzy!</em></p>

As you might recall, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/20/video-ferrari-f430-hits-the-wall-while-filming-pgr4-commercial/">Ferrari F430 was harmed</a> during filming. Its closed-course playmates were a Tesla Roadster, SLR McLaren, a '63 'Vette and a sportbike (looks like it could be a Yamaha, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong). Well, today we get news that the final commercial is done. No surprise: it's cool. In other news, I really need to get an XBOX 360.<br /><br />Thanks to Kardax for the tip. The commercial's embedded after the jump. Go and enjoy.<br /><br />[Source: DailyMotion]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/">Project Gotham Racing 4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/pgr4-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/pgr4_june22_46_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/pgr4_june22_37_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/pgr4_june22_31_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/project-gotham-racing-4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/pgr4_june22_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/09/video-project-gotham-4-hits-the-airwaves/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Project Gotham 4 hits the airwaves</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/09/video-project-gotham-4-hits-the-airwaves/">VIDEO: Project Gotham 4 hits the airwaves</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Sep 2007 12:02:00 EST. Bizarre Creations, the gaming house behind the PGR series, acknowledges it'll be two days late with the product, but according to Joystiq, they want to put "the finishing on the game to ensure it crosses the finish line at retail as the best titel yet in the 'PGR' racing franchise." Considering that PGR 4 is packed with a long list of cars and motorcycles, as well as featuring more weather scenarios than the Gulf of Mexico this time of year, we believe it will be the best of the series. Whether it's better than Forza Motorsport 2 or the also upcoming Gran Turismo 5 will have to wait until someone performs a proper smackdown comparison of the three.<br /><br />Click the Read link to visit Joystiq for a big gallery of in-game screenshots.<br /><br />[Source: Joystiq]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/24/project-gotham-racing-4-officially-arrives-oct-2-in-us/">Project Gotham Racing 4 officially arrives Oct. 2 in US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 24 Aug 2007 15:03:00 EST. Thunderclouds, rain in the day, snow at night, icy roads, the perfect 4-wheel slide that suddenly turns mid-corner into a face full of Armco, it's all there -- you'll just never know when, because it's "dynamic". The quote from Bizarre, makers of PGR4: "This results in changing physics when powering around a corner on the wet or icy surface in Shanghai and St. Petersburg or any of the game's 10 other locations." You can see standard and HD movies of the <strike>unpredictable</strike> dynamic weather <a href="http://games.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1574/Project-Gotham-Racing-4/">here</a>. Get ready to get wet.
