In this case, we're talking about what's arguably the most important auto show in America: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/detroit-auto-show/">Detroit</a>. It'll be a cold day in <strike>Hell</strike> January for fans of Nissan's finest, as the Japanese automaker has <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/24/nissan-pulls-out-of-detroit-and-chicago-auto-shows/">officially pulled out</a> of the proceedings. The event will still attract a huge audience, despite the horrible economic state that many Michiganders find themselves in, and there's no way that the local Nissan and Infiniti dealerships want all that foot traffic ogling every brand but theirs. Thus, none of us should find it too shocking that said dealers will be making their own display in January in Detroit. <br /><br />Like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/28/nissan-back-on-for-chicago-auto-show-still-avoiding-detroit/">recently announced display</a> for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/chicago-auto-show/">Chicago Auto Show</a>, the Detroit showing is not officially sanctioned by the mothership and it won't be staffed by professionals. At least fans of the marque will get the chance to see Nissan's latest products, sort of. Unfortunately, some of Nissan's biggest attractions won't be there, including the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-unleashes-the-slightly-less-cube-y-cube/">Cube</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-debuts-all-new-370z/">new-for-'09 370Z</a>. Seriously Ghosn, can't you just throw these poor guys a bone by at least shipping out a single, solitary new Z?<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20081127/BUSINESS01/811270399/1014?GID=ZFoRPoJGMPtOkLsCsDPFzHYbKan5Mln0+I/mmD7evxs%3D">Detroit Free Press</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/29/local-detroit-area-nissan-and-infiniti-dealers-to-invade-auto-sh/">Local Detroit-area Nissan and Infiniti dealers to invade NAIAS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 29 Nov 2008 16:11:00 EST. Just a few days after announcing that it would be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/24/nissan-pulls-out-of-detroit-and-chicago-auto-shows/">pulling out</a> of both the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/detroit-auto-show/">Detroit Auto Show</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/chicago-auto-show/">Chicago Auto Show</a>, Nissan has changed its mind. Sort of. The Japanese automaker will indeed have a presence in the Windy City thanks to the support of its local dealerships, which will be manning the show in lieu of an official factory effort. This being the case, don't expect a particularly showy display, but at least attendees will get the chance to see the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-debuts-all-new-370z/">370Z</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-unleashes-the-slightly-less-cube-y-cube/">Cube</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-infiniti-lifts-the-lid-on-the-2009-g37-convertible-w-v/">Infiniti G37 Convertible</a> that were all unveiled across the country at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/LAAutoShow/">LA Auto Show</a>. According to Nissan, there's next to no chance that the situation for Detroit will change.<br /><br />To recap, Porsche, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/26/suzuki-bows-out-of-2009-detroit-auto-show/">Suzuki</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/another-one-bites-the-dust-mitsubishi-pulls-out-of-detroit-auto/">Mitsubishi</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/ferrari-rolls-royce-and-land-rover-pass-on-2009-detroit-auto-sh/">Ferrari, Land Rover and Rolls-Royce</a> have all pulled out of the International Auto Show in Detroit. All's not lost, though, as room is now available for a couple of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/25/moving-on-up-chinese-automakers-out-of-cobo-basement-thanks-to/">Chinese upstarts</a> to show their wares at the big boy table upstairs. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20081126/BUSINESS01/81126109/1014/rss13">Detroit Free Press</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/28/nissan-back-on-for-chicago-auto-show-still-avoiding-detroit/">Nissan back on for Chicago Auto Show, still avoiding Detroit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Nov 2008 08:01:00 EST. But Japan's third largest automaker is going one step further than the others and also pulling out of the Chicago Auto Show in February. <br /><br />You may recall that Nissan blew its wad, so to speak, at last week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/LA-Auto-Show/">LA Auto Show</a> where it unveiled the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-debuts-all-new-370z/">370Z</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-nissan-unleashes-the-slightly-less-cube-y-cube/">Cube</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-infiniti-lifts-the-lid-on-the-2009-g37-convertible-w-v/">Infiniti G37 Convertible</a>. With nothing left to show save for a commercial van concept called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/10/detroit-preview-nissan-nv2500-concept-previews-companys-first/">NV2500</a>, Nissan felt its marketing money could be better spent elsewhere. No word yet on what'll happen to the NV2500 that was supposed to debut in Detroit, but at this rate we fully expect to have a large team of bloggers on hand in early January who are bored to death on the show floor of Cobo Hall. Thanks, economy. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081124/AUTO01/811240443/1148">The Detroit News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/24/nissan-pulls-out-of-detroit-and-chicago-auto-shows/">Nissan pulls out of Detroit and Chicago auto shows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 19:01:00 EST.
