Concept cars are a tried and true method for generating excitement around the future of an automotive brand. In most instances, however, a concept only makes a few appearances on the auto show circuit before being retired, never to be seen (much less driven) again.

Nissan took the wraps off its Leaf Nismo RC Concept at the New York Auto Show more than two years ago. As inferred, the vehicle shares many of its pure-EV components with the production Leaf currently sitting in your dealer's showroom. But don't assume the concept is a placid, family friendly, four-place, front-wheel-drive plug-in for grabbing groceries - the RC (as in "Racing Challenge") is a purpose-built, two-seat, rear-wheel-drive prototype race car tuned for the short track.

We're not sure if Nissan's new video for its Leaf Nismo RC is purposely silent to prove a point about the car's quiet drivetrain or not, but we appreciate the calmness of watching the electric powered "racecar" make its way through the S-curves of an unidentified track.

It's hard to find more giggles for your crossover dollar than the Juke – regardless of how you feel about the way it looks, the singularly styled nichemobile from Nissan is very entertaining to drive. Yet we've always felt that the platform had more in it, and evidently its Japanese parent agrees, having recently bracketed the googly-eyed turbocharged CUV with a new Nismo model and the barking mad built-to-order Juke R. At present, neither the Juke Nismo or the GT-R-powered Juke R are sold
