The models answer questions from patrons and extol the virtues of the product, but almost never participate in the design, engineering or manufacturing of said vehicle. Try telling that to a few rogue show-goers at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/NewYorkAutoShow/">New York Auto Show</a> that insist on heckling models working for GM and Chrysler. <br /><br />It seems some members of the public are none too pleased about the government loans, and since they have no access to GM and Chrysler executives, they're taking out their frustrations on the models instead. The "representatives" have little to say in response to the jabs, considering that they're mainly contractors being paid to be positive, nail their script and move on to other projects after the show. <br /><br />An accountant from Queens asked the model manning the Dodge Circuit stand "How come you've got to nearly go bankrupt before you come out with a car like this?" Another show-goer went as far as to tell the model at the General Motors booth that GM was responsible for the deaths of soldiers in Iraq since the struggling automaker doesn't make fuel efficient products. Wow.<br /><br />Needless to say, the models had nothing to do with the government loans given to GM and Chrysler. That's like blaming the teller at your neighborhood bank for the hundreds of billions of dollars given to the banking industry.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/14/automobiles/autoshow/14auto.html?ref=automobiles">New York Times</a>]<em><br /></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/15/thatll-fix-it-ny-auto-show-models-reportedly-getting-heckled-b/">That'll Fix It: NY Auto Show models reportedly getting heckled by bailout detractors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 09:28:00 EST. <div align="left">Yes, we saw it in Geneva <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-2010-mazdaspeed3-mps-grin-and-bear-it/">in MPS guise</a>, but if you wander over to the New York Auto Show over the next week or so, you'll get to eyeball the U.S.-spec 2010 Mazdaspeed3 in person. By now, you should know what to expect:: 263 turbocharged hot-hatch horses mated to a six-speed manual. Inside, you'll find a nicely-organized cockpit dressed up with exterior-matching color accents on the seat fabric and carbon fauxber dash trim. This is all wrapped in brand-new sheetmetal that puts Mazda's new perma-smile corporate face front and center. If you like happy-looking pocket rockets, this is a match made in heaven. If Mazda's new happy face makes you feel sad, however, know that the used-car market will give you a shoulder to cry on. Live shots of the new Mazdaspeed3 are in the gallery below. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/">New York: 2010 Mazdaspeed3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/ms3_nyias09_hi_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/ms3_nyias09_hi_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/ms3_nyias09_hi_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/ms3_nyias09_hi_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazdaspeed3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/ms3_nyias09_hi_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /></div>

<br />We saw plenty of these multi-level parking structures during our trip to NYC this past week, and even commented on how their space efficiency would work well in our own cities where giant parking garages dominate the landscape. Perhaps we spoke too soon. <br /><br />Autoblog reader Mel spotted this scene just around the corner from the Jacob Javits Center where the 2009 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> is being held. The multi-level steel parking structure evidently failed, sending a Lexus GS sliding down on top of a Land Rover and the front end of an also-raised Honda Accord. The kicker? A 1998 Chrysler Town and Country and older Camry sit just outside the frame unscathed. The Ford Edge that just happened to be parked on the right (both figuratively and literally) side of the structure was reportedly inaccessible by its owner despite not playing a part in this mess. Whoever was in charge apparently felt the whole thing might go at any minute. You know what, New York? Us smaller cities will keep our concrete parking garages, thank you very much. <em>Thanks for the tip, Mel!<br /><br /><br /></em><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/multi-level-parking-in-nyc-fail/low/">FAIL: Multi-Level Parking in NYC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/multi-level-parking-in-nyc-fail/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_4663_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/multi-level-parking-in-nyc-fail/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_4664_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/multi-level-parking-in-nyc-fail/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_4665_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><em></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/10/fail-multi-level-parking-in-nyc/">FAIL: Multi-level Parking in NYC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 10 Apr 2009 19:29:00 EST. <br />Dutch car manufacturer Spyker unveiled its updated version of the C8, the Aileron, last month in Geneva, but the U.S. is getting its first look at the quirky supercar in New York. While the car doesn't look like that much different than its predecessor, Spyker claims to have made some fairly significant changes including an all-new, lengthier space-frame chassis and more interior space. Power is once again sourced from Audi, coming in the form of a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 producing 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft torque. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/10/new-york-spyker-c8-aileron-makes-north-american-debut/">Hit the jump</a> for more details in the press release from Spyker, and check out the new high-res photos (both exterior and interior) in the gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/">New York 2009: Spyker C8 Aileron</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/spykerc8ny_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/spykerc8ny_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/spykerc8ny_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/spykerc8ny_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-spyker-c8-aileron/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/spykerc8ny_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc</small></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/10/new-york-spyker-c8-aileron-makes-north-american-debut/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: Spyker C8 Aileron makes North American debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/10/new-york-spyker-c8-aileron-makes-north-american-debut/">New York: Spyker C8 Aileron makes North American debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 10 Apr 2009 12:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>SMS 570X debut - Click above for a high-res gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Under the bright sunlight of the Javits Center's Crystal Palace atrium, Steve Saleen took the covers off of his latest creation, the SMS 570X. The Dodge Challenger-based muscle car registers a few rungs above the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/17/sms-570-challenger-has-a-coming-out-party/">570 that we first viewed at its Orange County unveiling</a> in January. Where that car was fitted with a 5.7-liter V8, the 570X utilizes a 6.0-liter engine, reportedly good for 700 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque - plenty of gumption to roast those wide and flat 20-inch meats. <br /><br />The engine includes lots of forged bits (pistons, crankshaft, con-rods, etc.) lurking beneath new CNC-ported aluminum heads. In addition, the 570X receives a SMST six-speed manual transmission and a high-performance cooling package. The heart of the car is a production version of the SMS 296 supercharger, the firm's new blower co-developed with Lysholm. Like Mopar muscle of yore, this system features a Six-Pack too - only in the SMS' case, it refers to a brace of cylindrical intercoolers. <br /><br />While the supercharger comes as part of the 570X package, it will also work on other Chrysler LX products including the Charger, Magnum, and Chrysler 300C. SMS also promises that "aftermarket fitments" are in the works for both Ford and General Motors products.<br /><br />Aesthetically, the X is nearly identical to the original 570, which is a good thing, because it looks sensational. From its "Red Butterfly" side-induction hood to its flared, vented fenders and new front fascia, the basic form looks spot-on. With its lowered stance, details like its GTX-style grille, fender vents, carbon-fiber splitter and side skirts, and rear spoiler, the 570X is at once classic Motown muscle and a thoroughly modern tuner car.<br /><br />As this car was just a prototype, there were some unfinished bits (off-kilter badges, hood fitment, etc.), but officials promise to get the production car right. No word yet on official pricing and availability, but well-heeled Mopar fans would do well to reach out to SMS straight away.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/">New York: SMS 570X</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-sms-570x/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/sms-570x-live_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-steve-saleens-sms-570x-ups-the-ante-with-700-supercha/">New York: Steve Saleen's SMS 570X ups the ante with 700 supercharged horses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 18:57:00 EST. <br /> Mazda's new CEO introduced the CX-9 and its raft of changes to a U.S. audience at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> today. The swoopy lines picked up from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/29/la-auto-show-mazda-nagare-concept-wedges-into-the-spotlight/">Nagare</a> are said to be "the embodiment of emotion." And that's right, if you get can worked up for the new 20-inch wheels, bigger side mirrors and "red garnish, which compliments the look of the front fascia." Inside there's new fabric, new stitched leather, piano black inserts and no shortage of chrome accents. Power to haul your loads remains at 273 hp and 250 lb-ft from the CUV's 3.7-liter V6. You can read about all it and more in the press release after the jump, and see it in the gallery of high-res photos below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/">New York: 2010 Mazda CX-9</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/000_mazdacx9_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/001_mazdacx9_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/002_mazdacx9_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/003_mazdacx9_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2010-mazda-cx-9/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/004_mazdacx9_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Jonathon Ramsey, Alex N&uacute;&ntilde;ez / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-mazda-cx-9-gets-bolder/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: Mazda CX-9 gets "bolder"</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-mazda-cx-9-gets-bolder/">New York: Mazda CX-9 gets "bolder"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 16:57:00 EST. <br />The McLaren SLR isn't the most conventional platform on which to create a racecar, but when everything is said and done, it sure looks the part. TRG Motorsports brought one such example, dubbed the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/20/coming-to-america-mercedes-slr-mclaren-722-gt/">SLR 722 GT</a>, to showcase in their display here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a>. Florida-based tuner RENNtech is solely responsible for importing any examples here to the States from Europe for a small fee of $1.2 million. <br /><br />Each SLR 722 GT is built by British motorsports specialists RML Group and features more than 400 unique components compared to the road going version including FIA-spec safety equipment, a fully adjustable suspension, upgraded brakes, carbon fiber bodywork, a towering rear wing, full race interior, and much more. Engine output is increased to 670 horsepower thanks to a race-only exhaust, and shifting is done solely by paddles behind the carbon fiber steering wheel. <br />The Continental Supersports has been priced, with Bentley having decided that $267,000 is fair compensation for exclusive access to green, luxurious speed. The ethanol-capable Conti is not only a sign of Bentley technology to come, it also provides the first clues to the next generation Continental, which we were told "isn't far off." Orders can be placed beginning in October, though the first couple hundred units earmarked for the U.S. will be gas-only, with the full on flex-fuel model arriving Stateside summer of 2010.<br /><br />The total price includes ceramic brakes but not destination and gas guzzler tax, which will take you up to about $275,000. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Hyundai Nuvis concept - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The first hint of what we can expect from the next generation Tucson and Santa Fe crossovers was revealed today at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> as the Hyundai Nuvis concept. The sweeping creases echo and expand upon Hyunadi's design direction that could be seen on the Genesis coupe and sedan and the Korean market Equus that stood on display nearby. Like so many other concepts at the show this year, this one featured doors that will almost certainly not be duplicated in production, extra-long gull-wings in this case. <br /><br />The interior is designed for exactly four occupants instead of going for the maximum possible seating with three rows. Nuvis designers have dispensed with all the usual switch gear in favor of a river of information flowing throughout the concept's interior, all of which is accessible through touch-sensitive surfaces. All of the interior fabrics are also made from 100% recycled materials. <br /><br />Under the skin, the Nuvis is spec'd out with the same <a href="http://greenfuelsforecast.com/ArticleDetails.php?articleID=653">Hyundai-developed BlueHybrid drivetrain</a> that was shown at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/LA-Auto-Show/">LA Auto Show</a> last November. The hybrid system uses lithium polymer batteries, which give designers more flexibility in packaging compared to more typical lithium ion batteries. The production version of this hybrid system debuts next year in the next-generation Sonata, while the design elements of this concept will likely appear on the new Tucson later this year.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/">New York: Hyundai Nuvis Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/nuvis_nyc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/nuvis_nyc2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/nuvis_nyc3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/nuvis_nyc4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-hyundai-nuvis-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/nuvis_nyc5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/">Hyundai Nuvis Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/asset_upload_file109_3067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/asset_upload_file136_3067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/asset_upload_file172_3067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/asset_upload_file19_3067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-nuvis-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/asset_upload_file211_3067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2009-hyundai-nuvis-concept-hints-at-next-gen-cuvs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York 2009: Hyundai Nuvis concept hints at next-gen CUVs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2009-hyundai-nuvis-concept-hints-at-next-gen-cuvs/">New York 2009: Hyundai Nuvis concept hints at next-gen CUVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 13:41:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Mercedes-Benz ML 450 hybrid - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The road to production for the Mercedes-Benz ML450 hybrid <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/08/03/chevron-drains-battery-planned-for-mercedes-ml-450-hybrid-merce/">hasn't always been smooth</a>, but now that the Germans have shown off the new SUV here at the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> (following <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/09/07/frankfurt-preview-mercedes-benz-ml450-two-mode-hybrid/">its early debut</a> at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show), they'll be happy to tell you just how amazing and luxurious this SULEV people-hauler is. <br /><br />The numbers start with a respectable 21 city/24 highway mpg rating. With a 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson cycle engine and a 288V NM battery pack, the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/04/02/new-york-preview-world-debut-of-the-mercedes-benz-ml450-hybrid/">ML450 hybrid </a>can go 1.8 miles and up to 34 mph on battery power alone (take <span style="font-style: italic;">that,</span> Toyota Prius!). The hybrid powertrain altogether has a combined output of 335 horsepower, so providing adequate power to move the giant SUV was clearly just as large a priority as fuel economy. The ML450 hybrid features Mercedes' first application of the Two-Mode hybrid powertrain it co-developed with General Motors and Chrysler - similar applications also appear in the Chevrolet Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid, Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen Hybrids. <br /><br />How does it ride? All we can say for now is, stay tuned. We're about to hop in one and see for ourselves, but in the meantime for more technical details, see Mercedes' spec sheet (page <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/1479313/full/">1</a>, <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/1479314/full/">2</a>) and the complete press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/">New York 2009: Mercedes-Benz ML 450 Hybrid</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/benz-nyas-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/benz-nyas-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/benz-nyas-30_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/benz-nyas-31_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/benz-nyas-32_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/">Mercedes-Benz ML 450 Hybrid</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/000_ml450hybrid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/001_ml450hybrid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/002_ml450hybrid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/003_ml450hybrid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/004_ml450hybrid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 Sebastian Blanco</small></strong><small><strong> / Weblogs, Inc.</strong></small><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid-up-to-34-mph-on-battery/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: Mercedes-Benz ML 450 hybrid - Up to 34 MPH on battery alone</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-mercedes-benz-ml-450-hybrid-up-to-34-mph-on-battery/">New York: Mercedes-Benz ML 450 hybrid - Up to 34 MPH on battery alone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 12:59:00 EST. <br />Following the introduction of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/11/chicago-2009-kia-forte-rolls-into-chi-town/">all-new Forte</a> compact sedan at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Chicago-Auto-Show/">Chicago Auto Show</a> in February, Kia unveiled the 2-door variant here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> today. The car takes not only the name, but also plenty of styling cues from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/20/new-york-2008-kia-koup-concept/">KOUP Concept</a> that make it distinctively different from its sedan brother. Up front the Koup receives a more aggressive design, featuring a bespoke front end with a larger lower intake and more vertical side intakes. At the rear are wider and thinner taillights with a larger rear fascia and dual exhaust tips.<br /><br />Powertrains are identical to the sedan; the base EX model gets Kia's 2.0-liter inline-4 producing 156 horsepower and 144 lb-ft torque while the SX features a 2.4-liter four-banger with 173 horsepower and 168 lb-ft torque. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Counter Balance - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Sometimes the words fail us. Here in the press room at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a>, though, people had all sorts of things to say about the Counter Balance, um, truck ... thing ... concept ... <em>vehicle</em>. The <a href="http://www.greencarreports.com/">best of the bunch</a>: "That's what happened when a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/09/carbon-motors-releases-real-shots-of-purpose-built-e7-police-car/">Carbon Motors police car</a> had a night of illicit sex with the Batmobile." However you want to describe it, the Counter Balance demands your attention. So, now that we're all looking... what is this thing, exactly? <br /><br />The designer, who runs <a href="http://www.wordofsteve.com/Barkan_Design/Home.html">Barkan Designs</a>, says the Counter Balance is a compact pickup truck (<a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/1481033/">seriously</a>). Where most engineers would put a pickup's engine (i.e., in front), the Counter Balance has empty space and there is an five-foot bed in back (it can extend an additional two feet, too). The engine sits low in the middle of the vehicle, which necessitates that the rear seats be bumped stadium style, which explains the awkward secondary window hump. <br /><br />According to the company's press literature, the Counter Balance is also "light, efficient and environmentally friendly," mostly because you could theoretically burn biofuels or CNG to move down the road and because, as the designer says, the vehicle "keeps its dimensions as compact as possible." Compact dimensions apparently don't apply to height in <a href="http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/Judge_Dredd.htm">Judge Dreddland</a>, however...<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/">New York 2009: Counter Balance</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/nyas0914_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/nyas0916_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/nyas0915_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/nyas0921_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-2009-counter-balance/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/nyas0920_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.wordofsteve.com/Barkan_Design/Home.html">Barkan Design</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2009-counter-balance-the-batmobile-of-yellow-expanda/">New York 2009: Counter Balance - the batmobile of yellow, expandable trucks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 11:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>2010 Subaru Outback - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Yesterday, Subaru unveiled its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2010-subaru-legacy-all-grown-up/">Legacy sedan</a>, a vehicle that is pivotal not just in its own right, but because it also forms the basis for the softroader stiltswagon seen here. It only makes sense that Subaru chose to unveil its new Outback here this morning, as the very first model debuted here in the Big Apple some 15 years ago.<br /><br />Predictably, the all-wheel drive Outback's running gear remains pure Legacy, and as such, it has grown similarly. Interior volume is up eight percent thanks in part to a 2.8-inch longer wheelbase (which also adds nearly four inches of rear legroom) and a two-inch wider footprint. Despite these gains, Subie officials claim the 2010 model is actually shorter overall. It also rides a bit higher, with ground clearnce swelling to 8.7 inches. Not only is this growth part of a strategy to combat upsized family sedans from Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet and Mazda, the move also allows the Outback to distance itself from popular Forester that also got biggie-sized with its last redesign.<br /><br />The new model will be available in the buyer's choice of a 2.5-liter, normally aspirated flat-four giving 170 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque (backed by one of two new transmissions: a six-speed manual or Subie's "Lineartronic" CVT) or a 3.6-liter flat-six (256 hp and 247 pound-feet) paired to a conventional five-speed automatic. Regardless of which engine is specified, the fuel tank grows to 18.5 gallons (from 16.9), and regular fuel is all that's required.<br /><br />Follow the jump for more, including Subaru's official press release, and check out the new Outback in our high-res gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/">New York: 2010 Subaru Outback</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/000_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/002_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/003_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/004_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/005_nyc_outback_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/">2010 Subaru Outback</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0000a_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0000b_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0001_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0005_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-outback-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/2010_ob0006_h_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2010-subaru-outback-has-its-muklucks-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: 2010 Subaru Outback has its muklucks on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2010-subaru-outback-has-its-muklucks-on/">New York: 2010 Subaru Outback has its muklucks on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 11:30:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype - Click above for a high-res gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Mitsubishi made it official, the Outlander GT Protoype revealed at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> will go into production with these changes: a higher ride height to match the typical Outlander, more power for the V6, but you'll lose the vented discs and Brembos. The polished aluminum roof on this GT is a beautiful addition, but only for the show, and that's a shame. You will be rewarded with the upgraded interior, which also stays for production. Price for the more powerful V6 model with S-AWC is expected to be about $30,000, nicely equipped. <br />At the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> this morning, the organizers of the World Car of the Year competition honored four cars that garnered the most votes in their respective categories from an international jury of journalists. While other categories were open to all newly introduced cars, the Green Car of the Year started with a list of 22 significant cars that had been produced in volumes of at least 10 and were in the hands of customers or test fleets. A team of three international experts in the field representing North America, Europe and Asia (including yours truly) examined the list and narrowed it down to five finalists. Among those, the top three vote-getters from the overall jury were the Honda FCX Clarity, Toyota iQ and Mitsubishi iMiEV, with the fuel cell-powered Clarity taking the top prize.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/">2009 World Car of the Year</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc. </small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2009-and-the-world-green-car-of-the-year-is/">New York: And the World Green Car of the Year is...</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 10:19:00 EST. <br />It seems everyone has a car of the year award to give out from the perpetual (and perpetually controversial) Motor Trend version to the North American COTY named at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>. This morning at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a>, the one and only World Car of the Year was named. Actually, four winners were named, an overall victor, best design, best performance and best green car. The only car to make it to the final three in two different categories was the diminutive Toyota iQ that also appeared as the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2009-the-scion-iq-goes-big-wheels/">Scion concept</a> yesterday.<br /><br />The overall winner chose by the 59 international jurors turned out to be the new VW MK VI Golf, beating out the Ford Fiesta and the iQ. Among the top performance cars, the Nissan GT-R beat out rivals like the Corvette ZR1 and Porsche 911. The top design was between the Citroen C5, Fiat 500 and the Jaguar XF with the 500 taking the beauty contest honors. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/">2009 World Car of the Year</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/2009-world-car-of-the-year/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/04/wcoty--2-1280-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/">Volkswagen Golf VI</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/00_09golfvw_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/01_09golfvw_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/02_09golfvw_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/03_09golfvw_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/volkswagen-golf-vi/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/04_09golfvw_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc. </small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-2009-and-the-world-car-of-the-year-is/">New York: And the World Car of the Year is...</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 09:59:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Mitsubishi's Outlander GT Prototype vehicle isn't slated for a reveal until tomorrow morning, but we caught the raced-up crossover lurking uncovered in the darkness as the Japanese automaker was preparing for a run-through of tomorrow's presentation.<br /><br />As you can plainly see, the concept vehicle is essentially a lowered Outlander that's been given a bit of Evoplasty up front. The new mouth breather look is significantly more aggressive than the current happy-faced model, but changes beyond that are minimal, including OZ split-spoke wheels and a few badges.<br /> <br />While Mitsubishi has yet to announce that this new face will make it to production, the handwriting and spy photos are <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/15/spy-shots-mitsubish-outlander-getting-lancer-face/">on the wall for the aggressive new look</a> to become a brand hallmark, what with the recent introduction of the production Lancer Ralliart Sportback sporting a similar front graphic. The fact that this is called a "prototype" and not a concept is a further clue in Mitsu's production intent.<br /><br />No word yet on what (if any) modifications have been performed under the skin, but a quick peek inside before the press conference rehearsal began seemed to indicate a stock leather-lined interior. We'll keep you in the loop as we learn more, but for now, enjoy the gallery below and the preview press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/">New York: Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/003_outlander_nyc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/">Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/01outlandergt_prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/02outlandergt_prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/03outlandergt_prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/04outlandergt_prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-outlander-gt-prototype/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/05outlandergt_prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 Chris Paukert / Weblogs, Inc</small></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-is-an-evoplasty-recipi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New York: Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype gets a EVOplasty snarl</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-concept-is-an-evoplasty-recipi/">New York: Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype gets a EVOplasty snarl</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>BMW X6 M - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/New-York-Auto-Show/">New York Auto Show</a> today, BMW is publicly showing the new X6 M for the first time, resplendent in red. For all the questions that were raised about the X6's own reason for being a year ago when it debuted, the same questions are even more boosted with the X6 M. The standard 400-hp 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 has been boosted to a massive 555 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Does it make any more sense? Certainly no more so than any other 500-hp vehicle, but that's not what the X6 M is about. As BMW points out, M is about an expression of joy. Aside from the acceleration, we didn't find the standard X6 all that joyful. We'll have to wait until we get the X6 M on a track in July to see if nearly 40 percent more power can address that. We're just hoping the next M5 gets this engine.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/">New York 2009: BMW X6 M Live</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/x6mnylive_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/x6mnylive_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/x6mnylive_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/x6mnylive_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-bmw-x6-m-live/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/x6mnylive_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-bmw-pulls-sheet-off-x6-m/">New York: BMW pulls sheet off X6 M</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:26:00 EST.
