4Need For Speed gets the old 'cats driving R/C cars' treatment

The Internet loves cat videos. It's just a fact. And we love car movies. So the combination of the two should be perfection. The folks at The Pet Collective have created a feline-centric parody of the Need for Speed trailer in what it calls Knead fur Speed.

17Need For Speed airs extended Super Bowl commercial, hits theaters March 14

Sunday's Super Bowl saw a new 30-second spot air for the upcoming Need For Speed movie, starring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul. But what you may not have seen yet was the extended, 90-second trailer that went live online last night. The other item of news is NFS's release date - the new flick will hit theaters on March 14.

13Watch some stunt footage from the upcoming Need For Speed movie

Lubricant company Royal Purple has started a video series called Outperformer, its latest episode looking at stunt coordinator Lance Gilbert working on the coming film Need for Speed. Gilbert is a third-generation stunt man with a family lineage going all the way back to Mickey Gilbert in Ben Hur. The antic chariot racing scenes in that 1959 film can be considered one of the precursors to the work Lance is doing on NfS, like the getting a Koenigsegg (replica) to flip out and explode on a bridge

12Drive Ford's new Mustang in Need For Speed Rivals

If waiting for the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang to hit dealerships is just too tall of an order, you'll be happy to hear that there is now an alternative means of getting behind the wheel of America's favorite pony car. The Mustang is making its video game debut in Need For Speed Rivals.

19Need For Speed Rivals

A Pretty Face Isn't Everything

I don't remember the exact phrasing, but my first encounter with the loading screen of Ghost Games' Need For Speed Rivals told me all I really needed to know about the latest title in the venerable series. The gist of that loading screen tip? "Drifting refills nitrous." A thinking man's racing game this would not be.

25Need For Speed gets the full-length trailer treatment

Does there need to be a Need For Speed movie? Isn't the video game franchise enough? We would submit, no and yes, respectively and respectfully. Need doesn't enter in to the equation however, and it seems as though Hollywood believes that its high time The Fast and the Furious stopped hogging all those cheezy-car-movie dollars to itself.

18Ferrari makes its return to Need For Speed: Rivals in a big way [UPDATE]

With all the excitement over Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6, it's easy to forget that there's another racing game from an even older franchise coming out. The latest Need For Speed installment, Rivals, is set to hit stores November 15 (this Friday) for the Playstation 4, November 19 for PS3 and XBox 360, and November 22 for the XBox One. As part of the run up to the launch, we have a great look at all the new Ferrari content for the new title, which marks only the second time yet another

11Need for Speed Mustang to set the pace at Homestead [w/video]

For the past 12 years running, Ford has sponsored NASCAR's season-finale racing spectacular. That not only means that Dearborn gets to call the event the Ford Championship Weekend, but also gets to bring the pace car. This year's season closer is set to take place this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Ford will not only bring a new F-150 Tremor to pace the Camping World truck race and a Shelby GT500 to pace the Nationwide race, but also this unique Mustang to set the pace at the Ford E

8Ken Block releases first teaser for Gymkhana 6, set for Nov. 11 debut

Fans of DC Shoes, Monster Energy Drinks and, of course, lots of loud, drifty action have been without one of Ken Block's infamous Gymkhana videos since the fifth installment terrorized the streets of San Francisco in July of 2012.

33Need for Speed movie gets first trailer

We've already seen the hero car Ford Mustang and had a sneak peek, but now we've got the first official trailer for Dreamworks' Need for Speed movie. Stop us if you've heard the story before: guy gets double-crossed by rich associate, goes to jail, gets out of jail, seeks revenge. There's your movie.

16This incredible Lamborghini Aventador is made out of paper

We've all screwed around with the cutting and folding fun that results from paper model making over here at the Autoblog Craft Workshop (not a real thing), but we've yet to dive into a project with real scale. Thankfully, dedicated hobbyists the world over are taking care of the heavy lifting for us on this front.

35Need For Speed movie offers first sneak peek

The live-action movie version of the cops-versus-cars Need For Speed video game series is set to hit the big screen next February, and Dreamworks Studios has released a video taking us behind the scenes of its upcoming flick. Director Scott Waugh shows off some of the movie's early stages of production, which include plenty of car chases and crashes.

8E3: We play Need For Speed Rivals, chase street racers [w/videos]

Need For Speed Rivals, the newest instantiation in a long-running franchise, has made plenty of news in and around this year's E3 show. We first heard about the game and its availability on both Xbox One and Playstation 4 some weeks ago, and the Hollywood media machine has pumped out plenty of news regarding the upcoming Need For Speed movie, as well. Hell, we even got a detailed look at the NFS version of the Shelby GT500 a few days ago. To the respective PR departments of Electronic Arts and D

35Need for Speed movie casts Mustang in hero car role [w/video]

Dreamworks Studios, Electronic Arts and Ford Motor Company announced today that the Ford Mustang will play the lead hero car role in the upcoming Need for Speed movie, slated to hit theaters next February. Of course, the Mustang didn't audition for the role like we imagine the film's star, Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame, might have. Rather, Ford and Dreamworks struck a partnership deal that meant the Mustang could skip the casting couch. The deal will also see the film's universe populated with

The Follow-Up To One Of Racing's Biggest Franchises Is A Thrill-A-Minute Hit

13Need for Speed: Most Wanted commercial pits cops versus cars

It would seem Turn 10 has outdone the Need For Speed franchise on it's own turf with Forza: Horizon with one glaring exception. No matter where you turn or what sort of mayhem you unleash on the countryside, there is no law enforcement. Fortunately, EA Games is ready to serve up the newest foray into the Need For Speed universe with NFS: Most Wanted. As you might suspect, the gameplay focuses on illegal street racing and the law's attempts at maintaining order. EA Games has turned out the first

47Criterion gives tour of Need for Speed: Most Wanted game's open world

Criterion Games bills the open-world hooning and hooliganism in the single-player mode of Need for Speed: Most Wanted as "unprecedented freedom and power." The company might not be kidding. Every single car in the game is available whenever you want it and you can drive anywhere you wish.

9Rob and Big take on the cops in live-action Need for Speed: Cardboard

The gents at Rocket Jump, four zany "people willing to stand on that razor's edge of the envelope that gets pushed outside the box," are kind of neighbors with Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. Sensing an opportunity to do something zany together, and apparently having a lot of cardboard and Elmer's glue to get rid of, someone thought of recreating Need for Speed: Most Wanted police chase through a cardboard Fairhaven City.

Here we have the second interesting tidbit about the Need for Speed movie recently fast-tracked by Dreamworks studios, after finding out it would be helmed by stuntman and Act of Valor co-director Scott Waugh: it's slated for a February 7, 2014 release.
