Suzuki Mighty Boy with LS1 V8 power - Click above to watch the videos after the jump

The JDM kei-sized Suzuki Mighty Boy from the 1980s weighed about 1,100 pounds and typically packed no more than 30 horsepower. What happens, then, when the only extra weight you add to the mix are a pair of fat rear tires and a General Motors LS1 V8? A lot of smoky burnouts, that's for sure.

Beyond the jump are three videos of the Mighty Boy crop-dusting fans in the stands. They may not be the newest, but we've never seen them before, and hopefully you haven't either. The first clip is a minute long and every ounce of the Mighty Boy's massive rear tires is shredded clear off the wheels. The second clip is two minutes, and you can expect more burnouts with a bunch of donuts mixed in. The last clip is only 27 seconds long, but six tire-smoking burnouts in that time-frame look like they're taking place in a video game. We can almost smell the rubber from here. Hit the jump to watch for yourself.

Click above to watch video after the jump

While they might lack the comedic punch of their seasoned British co-frères, the presenters at Top Gear Australia don't seem to have any electric car "issues". Indeed, in a recent episode they even held their own battery-powered build-off. Presenters Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati each took a car of their choosing, stripped out all the combustive components and inserted a rough and (mostly) ready electric drivetrain, before meeting up on a racetrack to compete for bragging rights.

Realizing that a decent electric vehicle shouldn't be too heavy, Pizzati decided to go with the featherweight Suzuki MightyBoy while his competitor settled on that great Australian classic, the HZ Holden Kingswood. This hulking station wagon weighs in somewhere between the QEII and the state of New Hampshire. While we won't tell you which conversion won straight out, we will throw out the hint that the triumphant strains of "Football meat pies kangaroos electric cars" could be heard coming from the passenger compartment of the conquering contestant. Follow the jump for the segment in two parts - as well as a bonus video of a very nice MightyBoy conversion.

[Source: YouTube]
Continue reading VIDEO: Top Gear Australia electric car build-off, Aussie rules style

VIDEO: Top Gear Australia electric car build-off, Aussie rules style originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 28 May 2009 12:56:00 EST.
Fed up with your pick up's lousy mileage, but worried that your neighbors will stone you Top Gear style if you buy a regular car? Want to make Subaru Brat drivers feel all superior? Or just need a second truck that will fit in the back of your Silverado?

Look no further than this 1985 Suzuki Mighty Boy available on Japan's Yahoo Auction site. Built to kei-car standards of the time, it's less than 11ft long and 3ft 8in wide, yet it can carry a standard 8ft x 4ft sheet of plywood in its flat bed - but only if you cut it up into 16 2ft x 1ft pieces first.

A snip at $400 (at the time of writing), postage and packaging is not included.
