<div style="text-align: center;"><small><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen - click above for high-res gallery</span></small></div>
<br /> We may have found this summer's blockbuster, <em>Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</em> to be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-great-action-even-worse-sto/">heavy on the sizzle and lean on the meat</a>, but that doesn't mean we've written off the series - after all, it's hard to dismiss excellent CG work, the childhood toys of our youth... to say nothing of that siren Megan Fox. <br /> <br /> Thankfully, director Michael Bay informs us via his official website that the next installment is already in the works, and it's been assigned a release date - July 1 of 2011. That's a long time from now, granted, but Bay intimates in his blog post that Megan Fox has already signed on for the TF3 project, and hopefully Shia LaBeouf will make the scene too. Bay is already meeting with Hasbro to discuss new characters, so we'd expect a few new transforming automobiles to show up as well. <br /> <br /> Here's hoping that they have enough time to craft a script that lives up to the special effects. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.michaelbay.com/newsblog/files/a2bd79bb4c222b807e27707aaf1497e6-570.html">MichaelBay.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/02/mark-your-calendars-michael-bay-says-i-transformers-3-i-comi/">Mark Your Calendars: Michael Bay says <i>Transformers 3</i> coming... on July 1, 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 02 Oct 2009 17:29:00 EST. Got a minute? Literally, just a minute, 'cause you're going to want to see this. And then you're going to want to know where you can get one for Halloween.<br /> <br /> Crafting a suit to look like a Transformer is one thing, but this video, apparently taken at a Chevrolet dealership in Mexico, shows a guy in a Bumblebee suit that actually transforms into a Camaro! Okay, so it's not a real Camaro. It doesn't drive, it doesn't chase after Megan Fox or save the planet from evil robots from outer space. For that, you need Michael Bay and a whole lotta CGI. But short of that, this is about as freakin' awesome as it gets. <br />Yesterday, not long after <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/08/video-chevrolet-targets-gay-demographic-with-new-camaro-marketi/">we posted a story about a gay-centered General Motors marketing video</a> for Chevrolet's new Camaro, the video was mysteriously pulled from YouTube. As it turns out, GM itself has copped to the disappearing act, as it reportedly ordered the popular video hosting site to yank the footage.<br /><br />According to a <em>USA Today </em>article, GM spokesman Dave Barthmuss felt that the video - which featured a pair of so-called 'go go boys in Camaro-branded underwear washing a new 2010 model - was "not appropriate and not in good taste." The footage was filmed as part of a <em>Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</em> gay day promotion at a Hollywood movie theater.<br /><br />Despite pulling the video, GM has reportedly launched a more concerted campaign to broaden the scope of its marketing efforts as it applies to the Camaro, with more overt efforts to target gays, bisexuals and the transgendered. It is not immediately clear what (if any) effect pulling the footage will have on the rest of the automaker's p.r. efforts.<br /><br />[Sources: <a href="http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2009/07/68493948/1">USA Today</a>; <a href="http://www.mlive.com/auto/index.ssf/2009/07/gm_orders_youtube_to_remove_ca.html">Mlive</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/09/followup-gm-orders-youtube-to-remove-tasteless-gay-camaro-pro/">FOLLOWUP: GM orders YouTube to remove "tasteless" gay Camaro promo video?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 14:32:00 EST. <br />Michael Bay may never win the Best Director Oscar, but he sure does know how to get the most out of his actors during their auditions. U.K. broadcaster Jason Solomons wrote in a recent column that Bay had Ms. Megan Fox wash his (unspecified) Ferrari at his home as part of her audition for her role in the first <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-great-action-even-worse-sto/">Transformers</a></em> movie. And since Bay was doing "official" auditions, he apparently recorded every minute of it. <br /><br /> Solomons reportedly asked Fox if she knew where the footage was, and he says she was unsure where the footage was, adding that she was "concerned" as to where it may be. According to Solomons, Bay all but confirmed the tape's existence, allegedly saying "Er, I don't know where it is either" when asked by the broadcaster. Hmmm.<br /><br />Since the role of Mikaela Banes required Fox to act as sexy as she already looks, we can see why Bay chose for her to wash a Ferrari as part of the audition, but the fact that the 'audition' took place at his home and the tape has gone missing does seem a bit "casting couch" to us. That said, we can think of few things we'd rather see than Megan Fox, a Ferrari, and a bunch of suds. What we don't understand, though, is why this footage wasn't part of our bonus footage in our special edition <em>Transformers</em> DVD.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=7&amp;entry_id=43184">SFGate</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/08/michael-bay-filmed-megan-fox-washing-his-ferrari-as-part-of-her/">Michael Bay filmed Megan Fox washing his Ferrari as part of her <i>Transformers</i> audition?!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 10:57:00 EST. <br />We didn't much care for <em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em> when we went out and saw it on opening night, but we're still smitten by the concept of robots that transform into all manner of vehicular machinery. In Michael Bay's new flick, motorcycles may have taken a more prominent role than in the past, but we prefer the classic Norton Commando in the short clip <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/video-norton-commando-transformer-is-more-than-meets-the-eye/">after the break</a> to the two-wheeled robotic movie machines.<br /><br />Composed and rendered by Steve Twist, a student from Bournemouth University gunning for his undergraduate degree in Computer Visualisation and Animation, this eight-month project looks to be time well spent to our eyes. Better still, in our heads, this is exactly what an old Norton motorcycle would sound like if it could talk.<br /><br />Perhaps Twist can get in touch with Bay to instill at least a modicum of realism for the inevitable Transformers 3? Nah, probably not. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/video-norton-commando-transformer-is-more-than-meets-the-eye/">Click past the break</a> to watch the video.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2009/June/Norton-Commando-Transformer/?&amp;R=EPI-116248">Motorcycle News</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/video-norton-commando-transformer-is-more-than-meets-the-eye/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Norton Commando Transformer is more than meets the eye</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/video-norton-commando-transformer-is-more-than-meets-the-eye/">VIDEO: Norton Commando Transformer is more than meets the eye</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 14:58:00 EST. <br />We played with Transformers as kids and have a considerable appetite for anything automotive, making the second installment of the Transformers film franchise a must watch in an otherwise uninspiring summer blockbuster season. While we didn't dare hope for a compelling story line, we were pretty sure Director Michael Bay wouldn't let us down with regards to special effects. We hit the theater to see if <em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em> lived up to the considerable hype, and basically got exactly what we expected. Hit the jump to check out our brief review.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-great-action-even-worse-sto/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em><em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em> - Better action, worse storyline</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-great-action-even-worse-sto/"><em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen</em> - Better action, worse storyline</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 12:57:00 EST. <br />The idea behind building a stunning performance car like the new Chevy Camaro is as much about selling the car itself as it is about casting a bright light on the rest of the automaker's range. The muscle car in the window may bring you into the dealership, but you're more likely to walk out with something more practical. Say, a Cruze, for example.<br /><br />That's what happened with one customer in China, where the price of an imported Camaro is, according to one report at least, the equivalent of a whopping $200,000. Having apparently geeked out like the rest of us at Michael Bay's blockbuster hit <em>Transformers</em>, the customer looks to have fallen in love with Bumblebee like that little punk Shia LeBeouf with Megan Fox (who really should be with a certain blogger whose name starts with an "N" and ends with an "oah"), but...where were we? Oh yeah, the Chinese fan gave his Chevy Cruze the full Bumblebee treatment, which looks to have involved a bit more than just plastering on some racing stripes. Check it out in the gallery below.<br /><br /><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/">Chevrolet Cruze with Bumblebee treatment</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/cruzetocamero13-frontpage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/cruzetocamero16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/cruzetocamero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/cruzetocamero15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/chevrolet-cruze-with-bumblebee-treatment/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/cruzetocamero1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.chinacartimes.com/2009/06/04/want-a-camaro-cant-afford-one-convert-your-cruze/">China Car Times</a> I Images: <a href="http://club.sohu.com/">Club.Sohu.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/chinese-market-chevrolet-cruze-transformed-into-camaro-aping-bab/">Chinese-market Chevrolet Cruze transformed into Camaro-aping baby Bumblebee</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 11:29:00 EST. <br />For those who can't get enough of Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and gigantic interstellar shape-shifting robots, Hollywood director Michael Bay is here to help. He's released a trio of new television spots for the upcoming summer blockbuster, <em>Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</em>. If you haven't found them on TV because you're busily skipping over commercials thanks to your DVR, you can check out the bevy of explosions, shape-shifting cars, planes, and helicopters <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/21/video-trio-of-new-transformers-2-rotf-trailers-released/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br />[Source: Vimeo via <a href="http://www.michaelbay.com/">MichaelBay.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/21/video-trio-of-new-transformers-2-rotf-trailers-released/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Trio of new Transformers 2: RotF trailers released</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/21/video-trio-of-new-transformers-2-rotf-trailers-released/">VIDEO: Trio of new Transformers 2: RotF trailers released</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 21 May 2009 12:29:00 EST. Our tester looked a bit too much the like the real deal, with a white-on-black paint job, working light bar and even a set of bumper bars. Thus, we can sympathize with Jessie Vigil, a Las Vegas resident and disabled Iraq war veteran who transformed his 2007 Mustang into Barricade, the evil Decepticon from the <em>Transformers</em> movie. What would possess a man to turn his Mustang into a movie prop? Well, his 7-year-old son really liked the movie, so now he's got a full-scale Transformers toy.<br /><br />Vigil created his cop car the right way by first contacting the local authorities and asking if his project were legal. While the Chief Deputy District Attorney discouraged him from doing it, there was nothing on the books that expressly forbade it. The only thing the law prohibits is impersonating an officer, and it was decided Vigil didn't fit that description for two reasons. One, the car is a Mustang and apparently Las Vegas police have no Mustangs in their fleet. Two, the police themselves sell their old cruisers without repainting them, so there's already lots of vehicles running around with white-on-black paint jobs. There are other signs this Decepticon is a dud as well, like the many movie-related vinyl graphics and the totally fake light bar. <br /><br />While most locals know the car by now, authorities are still concerned that drivers on the interstate might get confused and ask Vigil for help. If we learned anything from Michael Bay's opus last summer, it's don't ask a Mustang cop car for help. They're the evil ones. <em>Thanks for the tip, SwissFreek!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,337297,00.html">Fox News</a>, Photo: AP/Las Vegas Optic]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/13/mans-decepticon-mustang-is-above-the-law/">Man's Decepticon Mustang is above the law</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 10:33:00 EST. We went a little bit <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/27/bumblebee-transforming-on-the-transformers-set/">overboard</a> in the six months (maybe a year) leading up the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/28/autoblog-hits-the-transformers-premiere/">Transformers movie</a>. It's hard for us not to love a movie that includes a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/01/camaro-and-mustang-do-battle-in-transformers-the-movie/">Mustang vs. Camaro</a> battle scene and a seriously bad-ass Optimus Prime. If you were with (the few of <em>-Ed.</em>) us panging in anticipation of the first Transformers movie, you'll appreciate the fact that Michael Bay already has a countdown to the second installment of what will likely be a long-running movie franchise. <br /><br />According to Mr. Bay's countdown to Transformers 2, the date to remember is June 26, 2009. That's about 470 days from now, which will give us plenty of time to start <strike>stalking</strike> begging Bay to throw in a Camaro vs. Mustang vs. Challenger battle to the death. It does scare us that the movie arrives closer to the (supposed) launch of the Chevy Volt. We're really excited about the car, but if one of the Autobots has to plug in the middle of a fight scene, we'll be pissed.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://michaelbay.com/index.html">Michael Bay</a> via <a href="http://news.windingroad.com/etc/michael-bay-already-has-a-transformers-2-countdown-on-his-site/">Winding Road</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/12/transformers-2-is-so-on-for-june-2009-michael-bay-countdown-clo/">Transformers 2 is so on for June 2009, Michael Bay countdown clock confirms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 09:56:00 EST. You're going to your local big box retailer and walking out with a copy of Michael Bay's CG-extravaganza that was one of last summer's coolest ways to waste a couple hours: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/28/autoblog-hits-the-transformers-premiere/">Transformers</a>. We've all been inundated by the ad blitz, and now the DVD and HD-DVD are in stores now, still warm and offgassing from the pressing plant. You should <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/10/16/transformers-on-dvd-why-i-hate-dvd-exclusives/">do your homework</a> to make sure you get the <a href="http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/transformers-on-dvd-more-editions-that-meet-the-eye.php">exclusive edition</a> you want, though. Target's got the coolest, a DVD case that actually transforms into Optimus Prime, but Wal-Mart's got the prequel bundled with the film. If you're really hardcore and you need to have both, you'll end up with two copies of the feature. Or you could just go to Best Buy and get the two action figures and be done with it. <br /><br />If you're in the Hollywood area, you can actually hang out with <a href="http://www.cinematical.com/2007/10/16/gallery-18-foot-transformer-on-the-loose-in-los-angeles/">Bumblebee</a> as he stands guard over the West Hollywood Gateway shopping center. It's an actual prop from the movie, and we think it's a brilliant idea to send Autobots out to promote their own DVD. After all, the life of unemployed Transformer can be tough (see video after the jump). The Hollywood Bumblebee is huge, you'd need <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/06/monroe-truck-offers-production-version-of-transformers-ironhide/">Ironhide</a> to tow it around, but you can also enter to <a href="http://chevy.emipowered.net/camarobumblebee/">win a Bumblebee Camaro</a> when the model goes live in 2009. <br /><br />[Source: Cinematical, <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/10/16/transformers-on-dvd-why-i-hate-dvd-exclusives/">Slashfilm</a>, <a href="http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/transformers-on-dvd-more-editions-that-meet-the-eye.php">FilmSchoolRejects</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/17/transformers-on-dvd-has-landed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Transformers on DVD has landed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/17/transformers-on-dvd-has-landed/">Transformers on DVD has landed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 10:02:00 EST. With the film grossing over $700 million worldwide (and a big DVD release on the way that will shovel more money into the coffers), a <em>Transformers 2</em> was a foregone conclusion. And now, thanks to <em>LA Times</em> scribe Claudia Eller, we know that Summer 2009 is when it's set to hit screens. Both Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay are signed on, according to the article. <br /><br />Those of you who loved/hated the wall-to-wall making-of coverage while the first film was in production should prepare for more of the same in 2008. After all, the <em>TF </em>sequel should include new robots and new cars for us to gab about. Maybe the second time around, GM will even have some on-screen company from other carmakers, too.<br /><br />[Source: LA Times via <a href="http://www.michaelbay.com/blog/files/latimes-tf2.html">MichaelBay.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/22/save-the-date-transformers-2-set-for-summer-2009/">Save the date: Transformers 2 set for summer 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 22 Sep 2007 19:02:00 EST. The film's $222,000,000 domestic box-office tally in under two weeks makes the sequel a lock to happen. Tack another $100,000,000 on if you want to factor in the foreign b/o, too. To be fair, the Transformers franchise traces its roots back to Japanese culture (check out the current issue of <em>Wired</em> for a great lineage article), but considering the new movie based on the successful toy line was directed by America's biggest blow-em-up director, Michael Bay, one could argue the league of robots in disguise is as American as apple pie. <br /><br />Great Wall has swiped the marketing campaign currently employed by General Motors and is showing off its "own" vehicles in robot mode, complete with ridiculous profiles that indicate each characters name, with what celebrity it most identifies, favorite movie, singer and motto. Florida (shown above), for instance, stands 3.91 meters tall when transformed from its four-wheel identity, which is a Toyota knock off. It identifies most with Paris Hilton, loves the movie "Mission Impossible", listening to Justin Timberlake and cries out "C'est la vie!" when entering battle. Whatever. Other characters include Perry, i7 and Coolbear, the latter of which is a dead ringer for the new Scion xB. <br /><br />Considering the track record of Chinese cars when they encounter collisions on public roads, should we expect these Chinese Transformers to crumple under their own weight when erect and collapse into a mangled mess of steel and blown air bags? These Chinabots aren't worthy enough to carry one of Optimus Prime's spare tires.<br /><br />Check out the crazy profiles by clicking the Read link, and view each character in our gallery below. <br /><br />[Source: Autoblog Chinese]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/great-wall-chinese-transformers/low/">Great Wall Chinese Transformers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/great-wall-chinese-transformers/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/coolbear_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/great-wall-chinese-transformers/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/florid_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/great-wall-chinese-transformers/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/i7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/great-wall-chinese-transformers/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/07/gwperi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/03/chinese-automakers-copy-everything-else-why-not-the-transformer/">Chinese automakers copy everything else, why not the Transformers?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 03 Jul 2007 16:42:00 EST. In addition to the theatrical trailer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/17/transformers-final-theatrical-trailer-debuts/">already released</a>, Bay just debuted two more trailers for television that have already begun airing betwixt your favorite TV dramas in primetime. The one above is called Declare, and the one after the jump is called Vibration. Each offers a few snippets of footage we haven't seen yet. And let us tell ya, nothing gets us going like ex-model Tyrese Gibson screaming "Bring it!" to a bunch of Decepticons. July 4th can't come soon enough.<br /><br />[Source: MichaelBay.com]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/24/two-more-transformers-trailers-hit-the-small-screen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two more Transformers trailers hit the small screen</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/24/two-more-transformers-trailers-hit-the-small-screen/">Two more Transformers trailers hit the small screen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 24 May 2007 17:01:00 EST. It's entirely different to produce a toy that actually does transform with moving parts that have to work together in total harmony. HASBRO is in charge of producing the full gamet of Transformers toys this time around and has a website up that shows us exactly how Optimus Prime will go from big rig to big robot. Click <a href="http://www.3dtransformers.com/">here</a>, skip the intro and, unless you have a pair of cardboard 3D glasses handy, click on the 2D link. Here you'll find animations that show how Optimus Prime, Scorponok, Ratchet and Ironhide will actually transform when pulled from their plastic packaging. <br /><br />The site also has 360 degree views of each Transformer toy, as well as some extra items like a wearable Optimus Prime helmet. Our search for a Halloween costume this year is officially over. <br /><br />[Source: 3Dtransformers.com via <a href="http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=134284">tfw2005</a>]<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/">Transformers Movie Pics</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/21/watch-the-transformers-toys-transform/">Watch the Transformers toys transform</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 21 May 2007 15:31:00 EST. It's lean on plot, and we don't care, because the action sequences are enough to make your eyes melt. We have Bumblebee dishing it out (and taking it on the chin, it appears). There's Starscream performing trick midair transformation acrobatics. And as you see above, there's Optimus Prime getting ready to go kung-fu all over your candy asses. And that's not even the half of it. After all, there's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/gm-marketing-blitz-for-transformers-about-to-begin/">Megan Fox</a>, too.<br /><br />Best line: "It's probably Japanese."<br /><br />47 days, kids...<br /><br />The trailer's embedded after the jump.<br /><br />[Sources: Jalopnik, MichaelBay.com, Yahoo!]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/">Transformers Movie Pics</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/17/transformers-final-theatrical-trailer-debuts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Transformers final theatrical trailer debuts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/17/transformers-final-theatrical-trailer-debuts/">VIDEO: Transformers final theatrical trailer debuts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 17 May 2007 20:36:00 EST. We <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/13/in-leaked-transformers-commercial-optimus-prime-speaks/">reported</a> a week or so back on a new TV spot that showed Optimus Prime speaking, and while it was great to hear the gruff, digitized voice of our favorite semi truck, fans were shocked when they saw Prime without his faceplate. The spot showed what appeared to be mechanical lips of all things! <br /><br />Sources close to Bay report that the TV spot was actually a European test not meant for release. The lips were something added by the European studios and won't be in the film, which means Optimus Prime's vocal instruments will remain nicely shrouded by that stainless steel faceplate. Phew, close call. <br /><br />In the meantime, more pics from the movie were released, which we've assembled in our <strong><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/">Transformers gallery</a></strong>. We're particularly amped by the one above, which shows a freshly waxed and polished Prime laying the smack down on a Decepticon. You know where we'll be at midnight on July 4th. Waiting in line at the googleplex like everyone else.<br /><br />[Source: Michaelbay.com via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/movies/transformers-movie-update-optimus-prime-will-not-have-lips-++-so-sayeth-michael-bay-255384.php">Jalopnik</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/">Transformers Movie Pics</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/26/phew-optimus-prime-does-not-have-lips/">Phew! They had on hand some of the four main GM vehicles that will be in the film, including "Bumblebee" (Chevy Camaro), "Autobot Jazz" (Pontiac Solstice), "Autobot Ratchet" (HUMMER H2), and "Ironhide" (GMC Topkick). We're certain that every car parked at a meter and waiting for a green light in the Transformers universe will also be of GM descent, but we do know of one vehicle that's not: a Saleen Mustang that plays the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/07/evil-robot-mustang-from-transformers-to-punish-and-enslave-the-c/">evil Decepticon "Barricade"</a>. Trust in GM that a full marketing blitz is being planned around the release of its newest commercial on July 4th. Hopefully it won't get pulled from theaters because someone starts complaining that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/09/gm-caves-on-robot-suicide-ad-changes-ending/">robots are dying</a>. <br /><br />Check out the pics released by GM of each character from Transformers in our high-resolution gallery. You can also see some live shots of "Bumblebee" and "Jazz" at last night's event <a href="http://iesb.net/index.php?option=com_d4j_ezine&amp;task=read&amp;page=1&amp;category=4&amp;article=1935&amp;Itemid=31">here</a>.
