<br />
July means Independence Day to most Americans, but it also means racing, concours, auctions, shows, meets, rallies, and tons of other summer car fun. As July 9 has officially been dubbed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/20/senate-designates-july-9-2010-collector-car-appreciation-day/">Collector Car Appreciation Day</a>, it's only fitting that we start off with a couple of vintage car events. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/goodwood/">Goodwood Festival of Speed</a> takes place the first weekend in July this year, with three days of vintage and exotic car action from West Sussex, England. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/meadowbrook/">Meadow Brook Concours</a> will once again bring some of the finest classic cars in the world together on the lawns of Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Michigan.<br />
<br />
There are also hundreds of other shows planned, like the Jellybean Show in Surrey, B.C., Michigan Camaro Superfest, Hot San Jose Nights, Dana Point Porsche 356 Concours, Bixby Knolls Drag Fest, Keeneland Concours, San Diego Jaguar Concours, SEMA Show and Shine in Pasadena, Lexani Lifestyle event in Anaheim, and several events at the Petersen and Simeone Museums.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/motorsports/">Racing</a> fans will also have a busy schedule, especially if they plan on following multiple series. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/formula+1/">Formula 1</a> fans can take in the Grands Prix from Britain and Germany, while <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/nascar">NASCAR</a> visits Daytona, Chicago and Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/indycar">IndyCar</a> Series makes an Independence Day stop at Watkins Glen before the transporters load up and head north of the border for races in Toronto and Edmonton. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/alms">ALMS</a> guys and gals are back from their European vacation, and heading to Miller Motorsports Park and Lime Rock Park in July. The rally aces of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wrc">WRC</a> will be in action in Bulgaria and Finland, while <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/rally+america">Rally America</a> fans can catch the gang at the New England Forest Rally. Grand-Am cars will be visiting Daytona and New Jersey while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/NHRA">NHRA</a> circus will be hitting stops in Seattle, Sonoma and Denver this month.<br />
<br />
If none of those events appeal to you, check out our Google Calendar <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/02/event-alert-june-2010-calendar-of-automotive-events/">after the jump</a> for even more listings, all with detailed info and links. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Motorcycles at Concours d'Elegance - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> We couldn't possibly meander our way through the field of classic machinery at the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance without pointing our DSLR lenses in the direction of the beautiful collection of motorcycles gathered on the grounds of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. This year, British twin-cylinder motorcycles were one of the special features of the show, and all of the usual suspects were out in full force.<br /> <br /> Scroll through our gallery below to see meticulously restored <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#2">Triumphs</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#23">BSAs</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#26">Nortons</a> (including this nice <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#34">John Player replica</a>), <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#8">AJSs</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#4">Royal Enfields</a>. Looking a bit deeper into some of the more rarified air, we stumbled upon a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#17">Vincent</a> or two, along with a bike from Jay Leno's British brand of choice, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#28">Brough Superior</a>. We even managed to snap off a few shots of a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/#36">1950 Douglas</a>, which mounted its horizontally-opposed cylinders in the opposite direction of the better known format from BMW.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles">Meadow Brook Concours 2009: The Motorcycles</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/concours017motorcycle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/concours030motorcycle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/concours031motorcycle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/concours032motorcycle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/concours018motorcycle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Chris Shunk / Sam Abuelsamid / Max Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/04/meadow-brook-concours-2009-the-motorcycles/">Meadow Brook Concours 2009: The Motorcycles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 12:33:00 EST. <br />Still grumbling over having missed the chance at buying a Ford GT when it was still in production? Well, if you've got the cash on hand, there are probably dozens of examples up for sale by owners who need the liquid assets more than they need the retro supercar. But few are as enticing at what Ford and RM Auctions have going on this August.<br /><br />At both the Meadow Brook and Monterey concours the month after next, RM will be auctioning off an early VIN example to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The sixth example produced, decked out in red with white stripes, will be on offer at Meadow Brook, with the seventh Ford GT, in white with blue stripes, up for grabs in Monterey. Each is expected to fetch between $150,000 and $200,000 for the medical research endowment, so if getting your hands on Motown's hottest piece of machinery in decades wasn't cause enough, altruism ought to do the trick. Details in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii">Ford GT National Rally II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-gt-national-rally-ii/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/fordgtnationalrallyii---13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: RM Auctions]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/27/rm-auctioning-off-two-ford-gts-to-benefit-juvenile-diabetes-rese/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>RM auctioning off two Ford GTs to benefit juvenile diabetes research</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/27/rm-auctioning-off-two-ford-gts-to-benefit-juvenile-diabetes-rese/">RM auctioning off two Ford GTs to benefit juvenile diabetes research</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 27 Jun 2009 10:39:00 EST. The bikes on display ranged from a 1904 FN 4 with its shaft drive up to a 1969 Honda CB750. The transverse-engined Honda ushered in the beginning of the modern four-cylinder motorcycle era that includes most modern sportbikes. <br /><br />Some of the others included a 1913 Pierce Four, which was one of the last from the entity spun off from the Pierce-Arrow car company. Harley-Davidsons and Indians were also well-represented in the crowd. Most four cylinder bikes fell by the wayside by 1948, although Ariel soldiered on until 1959. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes">2007 Meadow Brook Concours - Vintage bikes</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/img_9374_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/img_9367_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/img_9392_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/img_9371_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-meadow-brook-concours-vintage-bikes/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/08/img_9373_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/19/meadow-brook-concours-2007-vintage-four-cylinder-bikes/">Meadow Brook Concours 2007 - Vintage four cylinder bikes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 19 Aug 2007 17:01:00 EST.
