<br />
Take a vehicle's <a href="http://www.iihs.org/">Insurance Institute for Highway Safety</a> score, throw it into a data pot that includes <a href="http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/index.htm"><em>Consumer Reports</em></a> ratings, the <a href="http://www.nhtsa.gov/">National Highway Traffic Safety Administration</a> crash safety results and <a href="http://www.jdpower.com/">J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study</a> numbers, mix thoroughly, then pour out the most dangerous vehicle on the road today: The Ram pickup truck.<br />
<br />
The website <a href="http://247wallst.com/2012/05/29/the-most-dangerous-cars-in-america/">24/7 Wall St.</a> created this analysis to reveal the models with consistent quality problems and poor safety scores. All of the vehicles scored poorly in one area or another in crash testing, typically side or rear impact tests. They all scored badly in rollover testing, except the <a href="http://autoblog.com/jeep/wrangler">Jeep Wrangler</a>.<br />
<br />
In order, the best of the worst are:<br />
<br />
1. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/ram+1500/">Dodge Ram</a><br />
2. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/10/chevy-confirms-global-colorado-pickup-for-u-s/">Chevrolet Colorado Super Cab</a><br />
3. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda/cx-7/">Mazda CX-7</a><br />
4. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda/cx-9/">Mazda CX-9</a><br />
5. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/pathfinder/">Nissan Pathfinder</a><br />
6. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/jeep/wrangler">Jeep Wrangler</a><br />
7. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/suzuki/">Suzuki SX4</a><br />
<br />
And while the data may speak volumes, it doesn't translate into poor sales, 24/7 Wall St. noted. "In fact, sales of all models are up from last year," the site stated.<br />
<br />
24/7 Wall St. did not reveal the safest vehicles on the road today using the same data, but all it has to do is turn its list upside down.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/30/ram-pickup-leads-group-of-most-dangerous-cars-in-america/">Ram pickup leads group of Most Dangerous Cars In America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 May 2012 14:58:00 EST. <span style="font-style: italic;"><br id="eyza" /></span> If you keep up with the print mags, it would be easy to think that every journalist, PR flack and blogger loves <a href="http://autos.aol.com/cars-Mazda-CX_9-2008/overview">Mazda's CX-9</a>. Automobile Magazine made a spot for it on their All-Stars list, Motor Trend named it Sport Utility of the Year, Car &amp; Driver thinks its one of the 5 Best Trucks of 2008, SEAMO crowned it their Family Car of the Year and USA TODAY even went as far as calling it "about perfect." We put 380 miles on the 7-seater in our best attempt to debunk the CX-9's mythical aura of SUV perfection and found most of the legend true.<br id="dl4a10" /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring">Review: 2008 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/08mazda_cx9_cjt---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/08mazda_cx9_cjt---06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/08mazda_cx9_cjt---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/08mazda_cx9_cjt---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/08mazda_cx9_cjt---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>All photos Copyright (C)2008 Chris Tutor / Weblogs, Inc.</small></span></span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2008 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-mazda-cx-9-grand-touring/">Review: 2008 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 11 Aug 2008 12:00:00 EST. Out of a possible 100 points, journalists at the event gave the SUV a score of 91, putting it way ahead of the 32 other vehicles from which to choose.<br /><br />The contenders were rated on attributes that included safety, capacity, accessibility, value, amenities, ergonomics, NVH and styling. Personally, as both a family man and a member of the automotive media, my vote went to the new Dodge Caravan overall. It definitely loses out to the CX-9 on looks, but as a kid-hauler, it obviously ruled in all other categories. So how does a minivan with dual DVD players, seating for seven, a fold-away table, hookups for video games and wireless headphones lose to an SUV with many of the same options, but costs as much as $8,000 more? <br /><br />After driving each car at the event, journalists were asked to submit their ratings for the vehicle on all the above attributes. We were told by someone in the know that Autoblog's rating sheet was one of very few submitted for the Caravan. Which means it didn't get driven a whole lot. We're not suggesting any wrongdoing, just saying that a bunch of automotive journalists with limited time and miles of twisty roads to drive will rarely choose a relatively slow and ugly minivan over a sleek, luxury-like SUV. Unless their boss, (that's you, John) asks them to.<br /><br />Hey, John, next time, dang it, I'm driving the R32 instead of the Rogue and the CX-9 instead of the Caravan.<br /><br />[Source: Mazda]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/cx-9-wins-again-seamo-family-car-of-the-year/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CX-9 wins again: SEAMO Family Car of the Year</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/cx-9-wins-again-seamo-family-car-of-the-year/">CX-9 wins again: SEAMO Family Car of the Year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 19:35:00 EST. The picture made its way onto the internet through a <strike>small</strike> big whoopsie at <em>Motor Trend</em>, leading to a flurry of embargo breaking. We offer our incisive analysis on the new car. It looks great to us, though we kind of wish the Alice Cooper headlight treatment had stayed. We'll get to see the car in the flesh in Tokyo soon. A new Skyline is earth-shattering in its own right, but not to the same degree as Toyota getting slapped around by Ford on <em>Consumer Reports'</em> new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/16/toyota-hit-hard-by-new-consumer-reports-predicted-reliability-ra/">reliability survey</a>. That's right, Toyota is getting some of its models branded as below average reliability and no longer will <em>CR</em> recommend certain models. In another surprise, Mazda's CX-9 beat out lots of tough competition to be named <em>Motor Trend</em>'s <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/15/mazda-cx-9-is-motor-trends-suoty/">SUV Of The Year</a>, though we had our money on the Enclave. We'd entirely forgotten that Jaguar was even selling the X-Type cum Mondeo here, Duratec and all. Even Jaguar-specific cylinder heads and an attempt at making a baby XJ couldn't move such an ancient platform, so the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/jaguar-drops-x-type-from-us-lineup/">plug has been pulled</a> long after anyone stopped paying attention. Of course, we are looking at Jaguar again, now that the XF is headed for showrooms. These content points are of course bookended by our cutting wit and expert insight, 53 minutes worth. <br /><br /><a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s=http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331469&amp;s="><strong>SUBSCRIBE</strong></a> to the Autoblog Podcast in iTunes<br /><a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/podcasts/auto20071018_0080.mp3"><strong>LISTEN</strong></a> to the show now<br /><a href="http://podcasts.autoblog.com/rss.xml"><strong>ADD</strong></a> the Autoblog Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/19/autoblog-podcast-80/">Autoblog Podcast #80</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 13:01:00 EST.
