Maserati has done a heck of a job expanding its two model lines to suit a variety of tastes. Say, for example, you're looking for a two-door grand tourer... then the GranTurismo is clearly your machine. More power? There's the GranTurismo S. Even more hardcore? The MC Stradale is your beast.

The downside for overseas buyers is that, unlike the GranTurismo MC for the North American market, the European-market MC Stradale ditches the lauded ZF-sourced automatic transmission for the more hardcore yet much-derided older sequential gearbox. So for those looking for something a bit more sporty than the GranTurismo S but one step shy of the MC Stradale, Maserati's British division has just announced the availability of a new Sport Pack.

Based on the GranTurismo S, the Sport Pack retains the same 434-horsepower 4.7-liter V8, but a new exhaust system has been fitted and the automatic transmission's software has been recalibrated for a more sporting experience. There's also a fresh aero pack and a series of cosmetic tweaks, all of which you can see in the gallery above and the press release after the jump.
Continue reading Maserati bridges the gap with GranTurismo S Sport Pack in the UK

Maserati bridges the gap with GranTurismo S Sport Pack in the UK originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 04 Aug 2011 08:59:00 EST. With only a two-model line-up, Maserati has been hard at work coming out with new variants and updates at every turn. Following on the heels of the GranTurismo and GranTurismo S, the Trident marque is in the process of unveiling the new Quattroporte, but the next batter is already on deck and ready to swing.

Although these spy shots are heavily disguised, the wheels and front end betray a GranTurismo, but the hunched back - like that seen on test mules of the new Ferrari California before its launch - suggest a convertible roof mechanism. While previous reports couldn't ascertain whether the anticipated cabrio version of the elegant GT would incorporate a folding hard-top or more traditional cloth enclosure, the size of the test mule's appendage suggests the former. Reports indicate a launch in March of next year, which could coincide with a public unveiling at the next Geneva show.

[Source: Auto Express]

Spy Shots: Maserati GranTurismo convertible originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 07 Jul 2008 15:29:00 EST. The new sports car will be a genuine 2 2 that, according to The CarConnection, will be bigger than the current model yet still smaller than the Quattroporte sedan. Motivation will beprovided by an unruly bunch of Italian thoroughbreds courtesy of Ferrari. They'll come in the form of a newFerrari-designed 5.0L V8 producing an estimated 470 hp. Expect a Spyder version as well, this time with one of those envogue retractable hardtops.

[Source: The Car Connection]
Spy Shots: 2007 Maserati GT Coupe originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 17 Apr 2006 07:34:00 EST.
