In it's latest announcement, the company's North American chief executive has been named as commercial director for the parent company as well.

Mark McNabb was appointed CEO of Maserati North America less than a year ago. He joined the company with little over a year's experience at General Motors, running the Cadillac, Saab and Hummer brands, after having held senior positions at Nissan/Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz.

In his new capacity as commercial director for Maserati SpA, McNabb will replace Raffaele Fusilli (who is leaving the company), report to Harald J. Wester and - in typical Fiat-empire executive style - continue holding his parallel role as chief of the North American operation as well. Press release after the jump.
Eulberg, a veteran of Ford and Jaguar, held the CEO position for less than a year after taking the position just last June.

As it as been with most of the world's automakers, 2009 has been a tough year for the Fiat-owned automaker. Only 247 Maserati vehicles had been sold through March of this year in the U.S., representing a sales decline of 58 percent.

As quoted in AutoWeek, Raffaele Fusilli, Maserati's global commercial director said:

"We deeply value the concrete effort of Marti and the MNA team... During a very challenging time, Maserati was one of the very few automotive players in North America to post a positive result in terms of sales in 2008, thus contributing to the second-consecutive record year achieved by the company worldwide.

Fusilli will oversee Maserati's North American operations until a successor is announced.

[Source: AutoWeek]
Maserati's North American CEO steps down... after less than one year? originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 22 Apr 2009 19:00:00 EST. Since taking over Maserati from De Tomaso, the Fiat Group has appointed a long stream of executives to lead the marque. None have seemed to pass muster, however. Martin Leach (previously head of Ford in Europe) was replaced by former Rolls-Royce chief Karl Heinz Kalbfell in 2005, who was subsequently axed in favor of Roberto Ronchi in 2006. Now, following the departure of the company's North American head James Selwa earlier this year, comes news of yet another leadership change at Maserati.

Harald J. Wester has stepped up to the plate to take the reins at Maserati. Wester started his career at Volkswagen, then moved to Audi, Ferrari, and Magna Steyr before being hired as Chief Technical Officer for the Fiat Group, a position he will continue to execute in parallel to his leadership of Maserati. Wester is a heavy hitter, but so were many of the others who have gone through the big revolving door in Modena. If Wester manages to perpetuate the company's profitability and follow up on the success of the GranTurismo and Quattroporte with new, exciting models, we'll be sold...and hopefully Fiat Group chief Sergio Marchionne will be, too.
