<br />
If you thought <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/rolls-royce/">Rolls-Royce</a> had cornered the market on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/16/rolls-royce-launches-limited-edition-phantom-bespoke-collection/">special editions for the Middle East</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/maserati/">Maserati</a> would like you to think again. But only if you've got a big wad of cash and actually, you know... live in the Middle East. <br />
<br />
The Italian automaker just took the wraps off a limited edition of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/granturismo">GranTurismo</a> S, specially outfitted with items from the company's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/03/maserati-unveils-mc-sport-line-customization-program-on-granturi/">MC Sport Line</a>. The car, decked out in a matte white "ice" paint scheme, was unveiled at the Yas Marina Circuit that just recently played host to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/01/spoiler-alert-2009-formula-1-season-wraps-up-with-a-bang-at-ina/">inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix</a>.<br />
<br />
Not much in the way of details were given, but only 12 examples will be produced: one for each of the twelve Maserati dealerships in the region, also honoring the twelve trophies (including constructors', drivers' and teams' titles) that the GranTurismo's big brother, the MC12, has racked up in the FIA GT Championship since 2005. The Trident marque has also announced a second run of 11 examples decked out in matte white pearl for its domestic Italian market.<br />

<br /> What's in a name, you ask? A lot, especially when you're trying to increase market share against such storied brands as Aston Martin, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, to name just a few.<br /> <br /> Maserati <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/15/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/">took the wraps off</a> its first proper four-seat convertible at last month's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>. But while the open-air version of the GranTurismo coupe will be sold as the GranCabrio in overseas markets, the Italian automaker has seen fit to give the vehicle a more straightforward name in North America.<br /> <br /> When the GranCabrio goes on sale in the United States, Canada and Mexico - as well as Australia and New Zealand - it will be sold as the GranTurismo Convertible. Pricing has yet to be officially announced, but dealers are already taking orders for the new cabrio in advance of its arrival in time for next summer. Details in the press release after the jump.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/">Frankfurt 2009: 2010 Maserati GranCabrio</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/01-gran-cabrio-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/02-gran-cabrio-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/03-gran-cabrio-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/04-gran-cabrio-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-maserati-grancabrio/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/05-gran-cabrio-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Maserati]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/26/maserati-relabels-grancabrio-as-granturismo-convertible-for-nort/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: Maserati relabels GranCabrio as GranTurismo Convertible for North American market</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/26/maserati-relabels-grancabrio-as-granturismo-convertible-for-nort/">PSA: Maserati relabels GranCabrio as GranTurismo Convertible for North American market</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 10:00:00 EST. <br />
After what seems like years of eager anticipation, and with the weeks ticking down until the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, Maserati has finally unveiled its long-awaited convertible model. With the Maserati GranCabrio, it looks like the Italian automaker has done a beautiful job of translating the Pininfarina-designed GranTurismo into an open-top machine.<br />
<br />
The questions on all our minds as we saw an endless stream of heavily-disguised test mules were whether the new convertible would have a fabric or metal roof, retain its four seats or sacrifice the back row (like its predecessor, the Spyder), and which engine would be found under that long hood. <br />
<br />
Now we've got our answers. Unlike the Ferrari California, the GranCabrio features a cloth roof that deploys over the four-place passenger compartment, saving both weight and space. In fact, it's the first four-seat convertible in the company's history, and boasts what Maserati says is the longest wheelbase on the market. The Trident marque has also chosen to fit the convertible with the 4.7-liter 433-hp V8 from the GranTurismo S, bypassing the base 4.2-liter unit and mating it to the highly-rated ZF six-speed automatic. The new Maser's public debut is scheduled for the Frankfurt show next month, but in the meantime, follow the jump to read the press release and check out the quartet of images in the gallery below.<br />

<div align="center"><em><strong><small>Novitec Tridente Maserati GranTurismo S - Click above for an image gallery </small><br /></strong></em></div>
<br />Some people believe in tuning exotics, some prefer to leave them alone. But everybody's got to respect Novitec. The German tuning house, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is one of the established names in tuning Italian exotica. The company's Novitec Rosso line is known for strapping superchargers to Ferraris to delirious effect, but a couple of years ago they turned out a decidedly low-key <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/03/extreme-restraint-novitec-tunes-the-maserati-quattroporte/">modification to the Maserati Quattroporte</a>. Now the Novitec Tridente line is back at work on the GranTurismo S, producing the supercharged super-coupe you see here.<br /><br />By adding a supercharger, tinkering with the ECU and replacing the exhaust system, Novitec has managed to coax out an extra 165 horsepower from the Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 for a whopping 600 ponies. Managing all that extra power is a retuned KW suspension gripping massing 20 and 21 inch wheels front and back, which team up with the carbon fiber body kit to add even more aggression to one of the industry's meanest-looking GTs. See for yourself in the gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/">Novitec Tridente Maserati GranTurismo S</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/tridente1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/tridente2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/tridente3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/tridente4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo-s/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/tridente5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.gtspirit.com/2009/05/05/novitec-tridente-maserati-granturismo/">GTSpirit.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/07/novitec-tridente-supercharges-the-maserati-granturismo-s-for-600/">Novitec Tridente supercharges the Maserati GranTurismo S for 600hp</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 07 May 2009 18:58:00 EST. <br />For an automaker with only two model lines, Maserati is certainly keeping busy. One of a handful of luxury carmakers to improve its sales figures in 2008, the Trident marque is undoubtedly looking to build upon its growth with an eye towards setting yet another sales record. Fortunately that push is product-driven, prompting Modena to improve upon its already-mouthwatering offerings and give us something new to drool over, too.<br /><br />First up is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/detroit-preview-maserati-quattroporte-sport-gt-s/">Quattroporte GTS</a>, the sportiest version yet of Maserati's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/25/first-drive-maserati-quattroporte-s-in-europe/">performance luxury sedan</a>, which <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/detroit-2009-maserati-quattroporte-sport-gt-s-is-a-mouthful/">debuted at the Detroit show</a> and goes on sale next month. That will reportedly be followed by a similarly-equipped version of its two-door counterpart. Called the GranTurismo GTS, we can't help but wonder if it was named by someone with a stutter... or maybe by former UN sec-gen Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Naming aside, the high-spec GranTurismo is expected to ditch the robotized manual in favor of the performance-tuned automatic coupled to the 433-hp, 4.8-liter V8 from the Quattroporte GTS. Other changes will include a tighter suspension and sporty touches all around.<br /><br />The bigger news, however, will be the debut of the new Spyder. While <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/baby-maserati-spyder-to-slot-in-below-granturismo/">a smaller sports car</a> has been speculated, sources expect this Spyder to be GranTurismo-based, retaining its four proper seats under the open sky. The new Maserati Spyder could make its public debut as soon as Frankfurt later this year, so stay tuned.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/">Review: 2008 Maserati GranTurismo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.whatcar.com/news-article.aspx?NA=237915">What Car?</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/08/along-came-a-spyder-maserati-to-roll-out-granturismo-gts-conve/">Along came a Spyder: Maserati to roll out GranTurismo GTS, convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 08 Feb 2009 16:33:00 EST. <p>Maserati is a company with a deep-rooted racing heritage, and it isn't about to let that fall by the wayside. With that in mind, the Trident marque has released details of its latest competition model, called the GranTurismo MC Corse Concept.</p>
<p>We brought you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/09/spy-shots-stripped-out-lightweight-maserati-gran-turismo/">spy shots</a> of a stripped-out, track-bound GranTurismo earlier this month, and this looks to be the ticket. Based on the 430hp <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/21/pics-aplenty-maserati-granturismo-s-in-all-its-glory/">GranTurismo S</a>, the MC Corse is destined for the tarmac. The engine has been upgraded with a new intake system, competition-spec catalytic converters and a center-exit exhaust to boost output to 450 horsepower. Grip is enhanced by an increased track along with a new front splitter, a larger rear spoiler, and more aerodynamically efficient side skirts, while the suspension has been upgraded to meet the track surface with 18x12-inch front and 18x13-inch rear wheels fitted with racing slicks. Enlarged brake discs with monobloc racing calipers help keep the power in check, along with an FIA-approved rollcage. </p>
<p>Following on the heels of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/04/street-legal-maserati-mc12-corsa-up-for-sale/">MC12 Corse</a>, the GranTurismo MC Corse promises to deliver one seriously demonic ride to go with the sinister looks. While this could be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/23/maserati-is-up-to-something-well-know-soon/">the new vehicle Maserati has been hinting at</a>, we have a feeling Modena has another trick up its rolled-up sleeve. Stay tuned, and check out the images in the gallery below in the meantime.</p>

The overwhelming popular opinion is that a new car will be debuted, possibly the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/baby-maserati-spyder-to-slot-in-below-granturismo/">smaller Maser</a> that's supposed to take aim at Porsche. A test mule was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/07/spy-shots-entry-level-maserati-sportscar/">spied a while back,</a> though that car didn't have the folding hardtop the new mini-Maserati, based on a hacked-down GranTurismo, is whispered to be carrying. We'll all just have to wait, each day feeling longer than the next. What else could it be, other than a car? The idea of generating such buzz over a new website, logo, or advertising campaign (all three are choices) is ludicrous, but the rest, including a new production facility could seem plausible. Even more intriguing, it could be all of the above. We want a smaller Maserati, and we're going to hold our breath until we turn as blue as the website's banner image to get one. <em>Thanks for the tip, Jvijil.<br /></em><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.maserati.com/">Maserati</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/23/maserati-is-up-to-something-well-know-soon/">Maserati is up to something, we'll know soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 23 Sep 2008 17:59:00 EST. <p>Try as we might, there are just some things that words just cannot express. For automotive enthusiasts like us, those things usually have four wheels and, more often than not, come from Italy. Take the Maserati GranTurismo, which only grew more desirable in our eyes with the addition of the 4.7-liter V8 from the even more luscious Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. We could gladly write all day about its achingly gorgeous lines and impeccable attention to detail, to say nothing of the rip-roaring powertrain, but we just couldn't do it justice. And so we bring you this video, which you can <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/12/when-words-are-not-enough-maserati-granturismo-s-on-video/">watch after the jump</a>. Enjoy.</p>

<br />When we review a car, at some point we take it out to find a secluded location for a photo shoot. Anyone who does drive by usually keeps on going without asking any questions. Not so with a gleaming Nero black Maserati GranTurismo and a "Where are my sunglasses?" yellow Corvette Z06 sitting side by side. This was the scenario that transpired when fellow Autoblogger Chris Shunk swung by the Ann Arbor office for a joint photo shoot of our respective review vehicles. Corvettes, even screaming yellow Z06s, are pretty commonplace in Michigan. Maseratis, however, are anything but. The GranTurismo sashayed onto the world's automotive stage in March 2007 at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> looking right at home in the company of the models who always adorn the displays of Italian marques at such events. Read on to find out what Maserati's latest coupe is like to live with.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/">Review: 2008 Maserati GranTurismo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/granturismo-1280-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/30/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2008 Maserati GranTurismo [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/30/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo-w-video/">Review: 2008 Maserati GranTurismo [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 Jul 2008 11:59:00 EST. Modern Masers are sumptuous and beautiful, quintessential expressions of the Gran Turismo idiom. The gloriousness of recent trident-wearing Italians has led to a boom in sales. Maserati is looking at increasing its profitability by expanding the model range downward. A smaller Maserati sports coupe priced in Porsche 911 territory could give sales a further boost, though the swooning economy may not help the exotic brand move units. The car would be based on a hacksawed version of the Gran Turismo's platform, leaving room for only two occupants. A spiffy Maserati in the $80-100,000 range is expected to be capable of moving more than 6,000 per year, powered by the expected V8s, and possibly a V6 for increased efficiency. Mortgaging the house for this vehicle is likely a bad idea, but another choice in the segment and price range that it's expected to occupy has us nodding in approval.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=233801">Autocar</a>]<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/maserati-considering-adding-a-smaller-coupe-to-lineup/">Maserati considering adding a smaller coupe to lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 10 Jul 2008 09:58:00 EST. <p>There's really only one thing Maserati could have done to make us want its GranTurismo more than we already did. And from the looks of things, they hit the nail right on the head with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/04/geneva-2008-maserati-gran-turismo-s-adds-8c-goodies/">GranTurismo S</a>, the more powerful, more hardcore version of the sport-luxury tourer that the Trident marque unveiled recently at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>. In the video after the jump, witness awe-inspiring footage of the GranTurismo S playing ever so gracefully along snaking roads and slow-motion splashing puddles. We're keeping a space in the Autoblog Garage perpetually free in anticipation of this one.<br /></p>
