Isaac Mizrahi's clothing collection "inspired by the all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu" will hit the LivingSocial Shop in less than a week. Pitching the Malibu to women, Chevrolet announced in August that the fashion designer would create a line with cues taken not just from the Malibu, but also from the kinds of women who "embody the persona of the new car."

The six-piece "capsule collection" is therefore a mix of the "ice-blue ambient lighting," leather seats, "crisp lines" and the "smart, stylish woman who likes nice things." The Malibu Collection is a blouse, skinny jean, leather jacket, driving moccasin, tote bag and "oversized boyfriend watch."

The curtain goes up on LivingSocial on Oct. 16. Antsy fashion types can check out the collection in the gallery above or scour for info in the press release below, at the Malibu Collection site, or on Facebook.
Continue reading Chevy and Isaac Mizrahi hope that when you think of high fashion, you think Malibu

Chevy and Isaac Mizrahi hope that when you think of high fashion, you think Malibu originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 13 Oct 2012 12:33:00 EST.
If we didn't know that this news came from AdWeek we'd think it came from The Onion. Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, previously connected to everything from Bergdorf Goodman and Liz Claiborne to QVC and "Project Runway," is throwing his name behind the Chevy Malibu.

You see, General Motors, attempting to "put a stake in the ground and commit to the growing women's segment" with the Malibu, of all things, has tapped Mizrahi to assist.

How will he do this? By creating a clothing line called Malibu Style, "inspired by the new Malibu," that will be sold exclusively on the daily deal site Living Social. Mizrahi says the line is to "celebrate a new approach to everyday style" that appeals to smart women who have their own personal flair. Speaking of his devotion to color, which he calls "the most important luxury in a woman's life," Mizrahi said, "One of the things I was inspired by was a blue light that emanates from the dashboard. It's just sexy." That is an actual quote.

The campaign will be aided and abetted by a Facebook page and a series of 50 videos featuring Mizrahi driving a Malibu in cosmopolitan cities that are home to smart, fabulous women. We've posted the launch video below.
Continue reading Fashion guru Isaac Mizrahi shills for... the Chevy Malibu?

Fashion guru Isaac Mizrahi shills for... the Chevy Malibu? originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 26 Aug 2012 12:02:00 EST.
