You didn't think you'd heard the last from Mahindra, did you? Back in July of 2012, Mahindra confirmed that it had basically given up its quest to sell small diesel-powered pickup trucks in the United States. According to a report from TheDetroitBureau.com, however, the Indian automaker is now opening a technical center in Troy, Michigan, near Detroit.
Complete with colorful dancers and Bollywood superstar Amir Khan, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd announced its entry into the two-wheeled market with the launch of two new models. The Mojo and Stallio are the culmination of a plan put into action back in 2008, when the giant Indian manufacturer purchased Italian design firm Engines Engineering, which claims responsibility for the styling of the M&M motos.
Mahindra has had its fair share of issues and delays in bringing its TR20 and TR40 diesel-powered compact pickup trucks to market here in the United States, but it seems that experience hasn't turned the Indian automaker off from a planned launch of its Scorpio SUV in America by the end of this year.

Indian vehicle maker Mahindra is looking for a way to avoid import taxes when it puts its pickup truck and Scorpio sport utility on the U.S. market sometime in 2010, so it's no surprise that Automotive News is reporting that the manufacturer is on the hunt for a stateside assembly location. It's the same reason why there are Honda and Toyota plants here, and Mahindra is no stranger to selling vehicles in our market – or assembling them here, for that matter.
A recent report from The Wall Street Journal suggested that the expected launch of Mahinrda's latest pickup trucks in the United States has been delayed until 2010. According to Global Vehicles USA, the company that will be distributing the trucks in the States, that's not the case. John Perez, CEO of Global Vehicles, told PickupTrucks.com:
