<br />Last July, we told you about the latest rolling homage introduced by Portuguese car design and development house <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=lusomotors&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">LusoMotors</a>. While our previous post featured a gallery of naked chassis and finished product renderings, we now have pics of the rolling prototype. Dubbed the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/06/lusomotors-lm23-150hp-honda-cbr-powered-track-car/">LM23</a>, this bathtub racer is nothing sort of an updated Lotus 23B for the street. Well, it is likely to spend more time on the track, but it is ostensibly streetable.<br /><br />Set to go head-to-head with cars like the Ariel Atom, Radical SR3, KTM X-Bow, Brooks Double R, et al, this featherweight flyer features a steel tube frame chassis under its shapely foam-sandwich metal body. Track-ready details include inboard-mounted coilovers and brakes, plus an integrated roll bar.<br /><br />This first roller is powered by a 150-horsepower, 1.0-liter Honda CBR1000 engine mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. Weighing just 881 pounds, 150 hp should be more than enough to get this thing around a track with alacrity, but LusoMotors founder Ernesto Freitas says customers can choose a number of different engines, including a Subaru turbo boxer. Kit prices are expected to start at &euro;15,000 (around $23,600 USD) minus the engine. The line forms to the right.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23">LusoMotors LM 23</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/lusomotors_lm23_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/lusomotors_lm23_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/lusomotors_lm23_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/lusomotors_lm23_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-lm-23/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/lusomotors_lm23_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http:// http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2009/01/25/lusomotors-lm-23">Autoblog.nl</a> via <a href="http:// http://www.worldcarfans.com/9090126.011/-lusomotors-lm-23-rolling-prototype-photos">WorldCarFans</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/27/lusomotors-lm23-rolling-prototype-ready-for-its-closeup/">LusoMotors LM23 rolling prototype ready for its closeup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 12:29:00 EST. <p>Of all the European countries with established automotive industries, Portugal might not spring to mind first. But that's something that designer Ernesto Freitas is trying to overcome. His company LusoMotors has been behind such projects as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/06/lusomotors-lm23-150hp-honda-cbr-powered-track-car/">LM23</a> track car, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/28/lusomotors-voisin-concept/">Voisin</a> revival concept and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/14/designers-to-ferrari-we-will-have-a-dino-with-or-without-you/">Ferrari Dino</a> mock-up. Although none of them - to our knowledge, at least - has really gotten off the ground, Freitas is at it again with a new concept that could yet see the light of day.</p>
<p>Targeted at the track-day-crazy UK market, the LM GT is a concept conceived in three bodystyles: a shooting brake, an open-top roadster, and a windowless speedster (all viewable in our gallery below). Freitas is looking for partners to build the car, including kit car manufacturers. An alternative approach could see the LM GT sitting on an original chassis with BMW running gear. The Bavarian mechanicals should make some sense if you think the rear end of the shooting brake variant reminds you of the previous-generation BMW Z3 coupe with its breadvan-style roof. The project seems intriguing, and we'll be watching to see if it materializes. In the meantime, check out the computer renderings in the gallery below.</p>

The French bespoke automaker was established in 1919 and rivaled the likes of Bentley and Bugatti up until it's demise in 1939. Now, the Portuguese designer and founder of LusoMotors, Ernest Freitas, has decided to revive the deceased marque with the introduction of the Voison supercar concept.<br /><br />Currently, it only lives in the CAD realm, but Freitas intends to build a full-scale model in the future to display at auto shows to gauge interest and public opinion. The technical details are scarce, but it's obvious that the concept is taking aim at the Bugatti Veyron, reviving the former rivalry, with power conceivably provided by a variant of Audi's V12 diesel engine.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept">LusoMotors Voisin Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/voisin-concept-2-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/voisin-concept-3-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/voisin-concept-4-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/voisin-concept-5-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lusomotors-voisin-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/voisin-concept-6-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2008/03/28-voisin-concept-by-lusomotors/">CarBodyDesign</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/28/lusomotors-voisin-concept/">LusoMotors Voisin Concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Mar 2008 16:29:00 EST.
