<br />
It looks like there some changes in store for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro/">Chevrolet Camaro</a> - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.<br />
<br />
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro+zl1/">ZL1</a>. Could this be the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/21/2014-chevrolet-camaro-to-be-available-with-ls7-v8/">LS7-powered Camaro</a> that we reported on back in December?<br />
<br />
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/03/camaro-spy-shots-show-subtly-different-grille-front-fascia/#aol-comments">comments</a> what you think this could be.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/03/camaro-spy-shots-show-subtly-different-grille-front-fascia/">Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 03 Feb 2013 11:03:00 EST. <br />
Just when we thought that the horsepower battle between <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/mustang/">Ford Mustang</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro/">Chevrolet Camaro</a> had reached its zenith with the 662-horsepower <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/shelby+gt500/">Shelby GT500</a>,<em> </em>it appears that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/">Chevrolet</a> won't go down without a fight. Based on an official-looking Vehicle Identification Number decoder (click the above image to enlarge) that <em>Camaro5</em> managed to get its hands on, the 2014 Camaro might be getting ready to receive a few tweaks under the hood.<br />
<br />
The biggest news is that an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ls7/">LS7</a> V8 engine looks to be joining the Camaro family for the 2014 model year. The 7.0-liter LS7 is currently used in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/corvette/">Corvette Z06</a> with a power rating of 505 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque, which is much less power than the supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 used in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro+zl1/">Camaro ZL1</a> putting out 580 hp and 556 lb.-ft. Interestingly, though, there are no new trim level listed on the detailed sheet, suggesting this engine could be destined to find its way into one of the Camaro's existing model, though a few months ago, it was reported that GM filed trademark papers for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/13/gm-files-trademark-application-for-z28/">Z/28</a> moniker, a storied designation in Camaro history.<br />
<br />
On the opposite end of the performance spectrum, the decoder also appears to indicate that the Camaro's base 3.6-liter V6 will become <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/e85/">E85</a> capable. We'll wait until we hear official word from <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/gm/">General Motors</a> on either regard to get too excited, but both are promising leads for Camaro fans. Combined with this week's news that next-generation Camaro <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/19/chevy-camaro-to-be-built-in-us-once-again/">production will be shifting</a> from Oshawa, Ontario to Lansing, MI, this has been a surprising eventful week for Chevy's ponycar.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/21/2014-chevrolet-camaro-to-be-available-with-ls7-v8/">2014 Chevrolet Camaro to be available with LS7 V8?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 21 Dec 2012 14:15:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Chevy Camaro LS7 Concept</small></em></strong><br /></div>
<br />As the Official Vehicle of SEMA, we knew we'd see several variations of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ChevroletCamaro/">Chevrolet Camaro</a> on display, but <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/sema-preview-chevrolet-debuts-quartet-of-custom-camaros/">the details</a> had us aching to see them in person. While each has their own unique appeal, the LS7 Concept stood out most. Designed to be something of a throw-back to the glory days of the muscle car era when anyone in the know could walk into their local Chevy dealer and check the COPO box to order up a race-bred, fire-breathing 427 V8 in the engine bay, this LS7 Concept shows what 2010 Camaro shoppers might be able to do with a massive letter-writing campaign. The LS7, as its name implies, features the GM Performance Parts LS7 Crate motor tuned to produce 550 horsepower thanks to a number of GMPP performance accessories. As we told you in the preview, a Tremec six-speed manual handles shifting duties, Brembo brakes make it stop, 20-inch custom wheels help it look the part, and a lowered ride height gives it the final touch. As good as all that sounds, it looks even better in the metal, especially in the concept's Victory Red paint. Check out the press release after the jump and the gallery below for desktop wallpaper-sized shots.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept">SEMA 2008: Chevy Camaro LS7 Concept LIVE</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ls7camaro---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ls7camaro---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ls7camaro---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ls7camaro---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-chevy-camaro-ls7-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ls7camaro---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/sema-2008-camaro-ls7-concept-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SEMA 2008: Camaro LS7 Concept revealed LIVE</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/sema-2008-camaro-ls7-concept-revealed/">SEMA 2008: Camaro LS7 Concept revealed LIVE</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 03 Nov 2008 19:27:00 EST.
