The upscale 'ute's base sticker grows by a knee-wobbling $6,405, starting at a rather monumental $73,800. For those scoring at home, that's about $18,000 more than the Cadillac Escalade, and within $3,000 of the top-end Mercedes GL550. While the LX 570 surpasses the outgoing LX 470 in both power and luxury, a $73,800 price tag is a substantial pill to swallow, even in this admittedly pricey segment.

[Source: Detroit News]
Lexus LX 570 to cost 9.5% more than the outgoing model originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 21 Dec 2007 09:04:00 EST. Motor Authority expects the new Cruiser to officially surface at the Tokyo Motor Show later in the year, but offers these renderings of what we should expect in the meantime.

The Land Cruiser is an old stalwart of the SUV segment, having been around forever and more than proven its mettle. Expect the next version to continue the Land Cruiser's lay-low image with a mild evolution of the current model's styling, though new hardware can be found beneath the familiar skin. Supposedly Toyota is working on a new air suspension that can lower and raise the Land Cruiser at will, and power will most definitely not be a problem for the new 5.7L V8 sourced from the Toyota Tundra. Since the Lexus LX series and the Land Cruiser share the same platform and general proportions, we'll be able to better tell if these renderings are accurate after we arrive in the Big Apple for the New York Auto Show in a couple of weeks.

[Source: Motor Authority]
Rendered Speculation: 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 26 Mar 2007 16:56:00 EST. Today the Japanese luxury brand announced that an all-new LX will debut at the New York Auto Show in a few weeks. Dubbed the LX 570, the vehicle's new nomenclature clearly indicates a larger 5.7L V8 will replace the current model's 268-horsepower 4.7L V8. The 5.7L V8 will be the largest engine ever offered by Lexus, eclipsing in displacement even the 5.0L V8 producing 400 horsepower that will be used in the upcoming high-performance IS-F. We doubt the new LX 570 will produce as much as 400 horsepower, but expect something in the mid-300 horsepower range with torque even more abundant.

The current LX (shown above) is based on the more pedestrian yet still capable Toyota Land Cruiser, so one would assume that the debut of an all-new LX will also preview an upcoming replacement for the Cruiser, as well. We'll have to wait until we hit the show floor in New York for more details, which happens the first week of April.

[Source: Toyota]
Continue reading New York Preview: Lexus unveiling all-new LX 570

New York Preview: Lexus unveiling all-new LX 570 originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 13 Mar 2007 13:25:00 EST.
