<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Subaru Legacy B4 2.5GT tS - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
We've grown quite fond of our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru/legacy">long-term 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT</a> over the past few months, but we can't help but be somewhat jealous of the STI-tuned Legacy that's just been released in Japan. <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/subaru">Subaru</a>'s in-house tuning department has laid hands on the new-for-2010 Legacy sedan (and the not-for-U.S. wagon!) to create the B4 2.5GT tS, which features a host of cosmetic and dynamic enhancements, even though the turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer remains unchanged.<br />
<br />
Visually, the tS (which stands for "Tuned by STI") gets a new front lip spoiler, as well as a subtle deckled spoiler out back (fixed to the roof on wagon models). New 18-inch alloys wrapped in 225/45-series rubber sit at the corners and appropriate badging is applied all around. Inside, there's a revised instrument cluster, sport seats, carbon trim, a leather-wrapped STI steering wheel and, of course, STI branding on the shifter and floor mats.<br />
<br />
Where the tS gets good, however, is in its performance upgrades, which include a sport exhaust system, a more robust Bilstein suspension, and new strut tower bars. Because the turbocharged flat-four keeps its stock output - 265 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque - this hotted-up Legacy won't be any quicker on the street. The other tweaks should make it even more poised during sporty driving, though.<br />
<br />
While this may seem like just another juicy piece of Forbidden Fruit, we're sure that STI has upgrades for the U.S.-spec Legacy in the pipeline. (Please!) Scroll through the gallery below to see the Legacy tS's upgrades in detail.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>2010 Subaru Legacy Tourer 2.0D - click above image for high-res gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br /> Led Zeppelin said it best, "The song remains the same." Especially if you're an American fan of good old station wagons. You're looking at the just-released-to-our-shepherd's-pie-eating-brethren 2010 Subaru Legacy Wagon and we (yet again) can't have it. Wah.<br /> <br /> Based entirely on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/31/first-2010-subaru-legacy-rolls-off-the-line-in-indiana/">fifth-generation Legacy</a> (built right in Indiana) the Tourer comes standard with a 2.0-liter diesel boxer mill mated to a six-speed manual transmission. That particular car, the Legacy Tourer 2.0D, can hustle itself to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds, go 120 mph and get around 38 mpg. Not bad. You can also go for the Tourer 2.5i which has a 2.5-liter gasoline boxer engine and a new "Lineartronic" CVT, notable because it's longitudinally mounted behind the boxer engine, which sounds highly efficient. The petrol-powered car is about a second slower to 60 mph and surely costs more while getting worse mileage. <br /> <br /> We would like to remind Subaru that they are selling us Americans the Outback (which is a jacked up Legacy Wagon with plastic cladding and a name derived from Paul Hogan), the Forester (another high-riding Legacy derivative with a tall roof that looks exactly like a station wagon) and the Tribeca (the less said here, the better). Oh, and the Impreza/WRX also come as five doors. Hey, the STI is wagon-only. In fact, the only car Subaru sells in the U.S. without a rear hatch is... the Legacy. Hey Subie, you know how you made all-wheel drive standard on every car and that helped to differentiate you from the competition? Why not go all wagon, all the time and see how that sets you apart? Just a suggestion. Full press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/08/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-debuts-in-uk-no-yankee-not-for-you/#continued">after the jump</a>.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0">2010 Subaru Legacy Wagon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/slt00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/slt10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/slt20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/slt30_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/slt40_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Subaru]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/08/2010-subaru-legacy-wagon-debuts-in-britain-no-yankee-not-for/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2010 Subaru Legacy Wagon debuts in Britain. Limited to 600 units total, the tuner kit can be ordered for either the Legacy Wagon or Legacy B4 (sedan). No engine modifications are part of the package since it's available only for the 2.0 GT spec.B trim, which already features Legacy's top-of-the-line 280-horsepower mill. <br /><br />The list of add-ons includes the following:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Sport suspension feat. Bilstein dampers</li>
    <li>18" STi wheels</li>
    <li>STi front and rear spoilers</li>
    <li>Brembo brake upgrade</li>
    <li>Leather/Alcantara seating with red contrast stitching<br /></li>
    <li>STi electro-luminescent gauge pack</li>
    <li>STi badging</li>
    <li>STi muffler with dual tip</li>
</ul>
Al of those are applied to the recently-facelifted Legacy, which looked great to begin with, to give it a decidedly sportier look and feel than the already-impressive spec.B model. In addition to the body style, buyers can choose between 6-speed manual or 5-speed (paddle-shift) automatic transmissions. Pricing ranges from &yen;3,979,500 ($34,700 USD) to 4,116,000 ($35,800 USD). Dealers are taking orders now, and deliveries will commence in February.<br /><br />Japan gets all the fun. Forester STi, Legacy STi ... Come on, Subaru! Where's the love?<br /><br />(Additional photos after the jump)<br /><br />[Source: Subaru]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti">Subaru Legacy Tuned by STi (JDM)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/ls6_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/ls6_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/ls6_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/ls6_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/subaru-legacy-tuned-by-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/ls6_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><font size="+1"><strong></strong></font><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/09/subary-legacy-sti-package-introduced-in-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Subaru Legacy STi package introduced in Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/09/subary-legacy-sti-package-introduced-in-japan/">Subaru Legacy STi package introduced in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 09 Aug 2006 14:26:00 EST.
