Top Gear USA runs with the bulls - Click above to see the video after the jump

While everyone and their mother seems to have made Top Gear USA bashing the new national pastime, you might want to take a look at the newest video tease it's just released. While the appeal of the BBC show undoubtedly revolves around the chemistry between its three mismatched hosts, at its core, it's a show about cars. So even if we're not certain the three American hosts can live up to the legacy established by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, perhaps they really don't need to.

Top Gear USA isn't a replacement for the BBC show after all - it's more of a spin-off. And as long as the production values stay high - and from the looks of it, they have - it's just more car pr0n for all of us. Case in point: the video you'll see after the jump. The storyline is fairly straightforward: Round up the baddest Lamborghinis from the corral - Superleggera, Balboni and SuperVeloce - and open them up so we can see what they'll do. Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition - Click above for high-res image gallery

Okay, Lamborghini. We get it. It's got 670 horsepower. It has all-wheel drive. It's really fast. It's made for China. It's a limited edition model. Did you really need to put all of that information in the name? The exclusive features of the car over the standard model perhaps takes less time to describe: An orange stripe symbolizing the "strength of an erupting volcano" (poorly timed) over flat gray paint and... well, that's about it. Oh, and a numbered badge with the owner's name. After all, nothing makes you feel special like a numbered badge.

Introduced by the Italian supercar builder today at the Beijing Motor Show to solidify its commitment to building its brand in China, the Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition should help Lamborghini continue to grow its presence in the country, where it expanded business last year by 11 percent and will be launching its eighth Chinese dealership this week. Over the past few years here at Autoblog, we've come to pride ourselves on our photography. But far from convincing ourselves that we're the be-all-and-end-all, if anything, our drive to provide better visuals has only taught us to appreciate quality automotive photography all the more. There's certainly no lack of that out there these days, and the intertubes have only made it all more accessible.

The 4,000th Lamborghini Murcielago - Click above for high-res image

It's been a long time since Lamborghini introduced the Murcielago. In it's original form the Diablo replacement came with a 6.2-liter V12 putting out 580 horsepower and 480 lb-ft torque. Since then Lamborghini has continuously upgraded the car with more horsepower, limited editions like the Reventon and the series-ending flagship in the form of the LP670-4 SuperVeloce. We've also seen plenty of good and bad tuner versions, and Lamborghini even managed to have a little success in motorsports. Best of all, we even got to take an LP640 home for a few days and couldn't help but fall in love with the Italian supercar. Why all the reminiscing? Lamborghini has just built the 4,000th Murcielago. In comparison, just 2,900 Diablos were built from 1991-2001.

The 4,000th Murcielago was recently completed at the Sant'Agata Bolognese factory where Lamborghini celebrated the occasion. The car in question is an LP670-4 SV model with a bright Arancione Atlas (orange) paint scheme, and its lucky new owner will take delivery at Lamborghini's showroom in Hangzhou, China. Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 by Premier4509 - Click above for high-res image

The end of Murciélago is upon us. The steel-framed supercar from Sant'Agata has been on the market since 2001. Since then, Lamborghini has produced over 3,000 of them. But only 350 are LP670-4 SuperVeloce spec, and you can bet the other 2,650+ owners are jealous. However, while the SV's 670-horsepower engine remains the exclusive purview of the most extreme Lambo to date, one aftermarket firm has risen up to the challenge of giving existing "base" Murciélago owners the coveted look of the SuperVeloce.

You may remember Premier4509 for producing body kits for such exotics as the Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Japanese tuner fanboys and gamers may sooner recognize its parent company, VeilSide. But the Japanese outfit has now released a simple visual mod for the Murciélago to give it that SV look. Essentially all it is - for the time being at least - is a new bumper, blacked out on bottom and protruding like a cowcatcher. Coupled with a big rear wing and blacked-out quarter-panel intakes and mirrors, though, and it's a dead ringer SV.

Premier4509 says they've got an accompanying rear bumper in the works as well, and will only produce 300 examples of the body kit, so there's another couple thousand Murci owners still left out in the cold. And while it may not have the power advantage, even an "ordinary" Murciélago won't stick around long enough for anyone to notice.

Lamborghini Factory in Sant'Agata - Click above for high-res image gallery

There's a reason cable is kicking so much network butt these days. No, not Deadliest Catch. Well, okay, Deadliest Catch and shows like the National Geographic Channel's Ultimate Factories. What is Ultimate Factories you ask? It's a show where a camera crew runs around the world checking out some really cool factories, that's what. Think Budweiser, Ikea and the place where they build M1 tanks. However, the show spends most of its time (and rightly so) on cars.

For example, we chose the Lamborghini picture as the lead for this post because A) that's the (drool) LP670-4 SV B) the Lambo factory episode already aired last week. From all accounts, it was super fantastic good, especially if you're into raging bulls. Missed it? Do not fear, however, as reruns are currently (re)running. But even if you missed the Lamborghini episode, there are some upcoming shows that will certainly pique your interest.

This Thursday, October 8, is the Rolls-Royce factory where Nat Geo explores the Rolls-Royce Phantom, a car that takes 450 hours to build. On October 15 they visit the Oshawa plant where the new Chevrolet Camaro is built. Unlike the largely hand-built Phantom, it takes 734 robots (plus a human or two) just 18 hours to build a Camaro, with one coming off the line every minutes. Check this out: every Camaro produced so far has an owner.

On October 22, Ultimate Factories visits Stuttgart to spend some time with the Porsche 911. Turns out that National Geographic is smarter than they look because the very next week - October 29 - they visit Bowling Green, Kentucky where the Corvette is made. Why smart? Would you want eleventy billion Corvette owners writing you hate mail all stating, "OMG. My C5 can smoke that Volkswagen. LOL?" Corvette ZR1 chasing a Lamborghini Muricelago LP670-4 SV - Click above to watch video after the jump

On Monday we shared a very nifty video of the lads at Autocar and a fire-breathing Blue Devil corvette chasing something around the hill route at Millbrook. Obviously, speculation was rampant about what sort of car had the camera strapped to it. Some folks went ahead and checked out Autocar since it was their video, others simply guessed. Results: Some of you were right! Others, very wrong. But, like the good parents that we are, Autoblog loves all of you equally. Moving on.

I'm going to go a little inside baseball for a moment, so bare bear with me. Yes, Autocar revealed that the chase car was indeed a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce about two weeks ago. Trouble was, the clip wasn't on YouTube, meaning that we couldn't share it with you here on Autoblog. A questionable decision, but a decision, nonethelss. Anyhow, look - a Chevy Corvette ZR1 chasing a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV around a track!!!

This really is an unbelievable video. First of all, you got two of the hottest cars in the world. Second, the Lambo should be a bit quicker than the ZR1, right? It has around 30 more horsepower, weighs about 60 pounds less and has AWD, allowing it to exit corners more quickly. Plus, the Lamborghini has a factory driver at the helm while the Corvette is being piloted by (gulp) an auto journalist. Only thing is, well... watch for yourself, after the jump. One more thing - not counting the "joke's on you, rich people!" Reventon, the LP670-4 SV is Lambo's most expensive vehicle and the ZR1 is (obviously) Chevy's. Can you image a race between the two brands' cheapest vehicles? Aveo vs. Gallardo LP560-4 strikes us as very funny.

Just four short months ago a rumor surfaced that Lamborghini would be making a topless version of its hottest model, the F22-inspired Reventon. Word is that today Lambo is showing off its most expensive ever ragin' bull to a super select cabal of people so wealthy that we'll never understand. Based on the Murcielago, the original carbon fiber Reventon was limited to 20 units (plus one for the museum) and cost just about $1 million. And therein lies the problem. As a Reventon owner, you have a 19 out of 6.5 billion chance of running into another person driving the same car as you -- not exclusive enough.

This is where the new drop top Rev comes in. Limited to just nine examples makes the new Lambo more than twice as exclusive. As its price will climb to $1.6 million, it had better be. Besides losing the roof, the Reventon Roadster will be more powerful than its hard-top cousins, as the convertible will get the LP670-4 SV's stonking 6.5-liter V12 good for 670 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque. You know, we could get used to this whole filthy rich thing.

Reiter Engineering LP670 R-SV -- Click above for high-res image gallery

Reiter Engineering used last weekend's 24 Hours of Spa race to reveal its Murcielago LP670 R-SV, a GT1 race-ready version of the already hardened LP 670-4 SV. The box-stock Lambo already shed 220 pounds compared to its non SV brethren, weighing in at 3,451 pounds. The Reiter racer, stripped of any non-essentials and with a body rendered entirely in carbon fiber, drops further 921 pounds to weigh in at just 2,530 pounds (1,150 kg).

Reiter is hoping the car will be one of the six allowable brands chosen for next year's FIA GT World Championship. You can read the press release on the taurean missile after the jump, and check out the gallery of high-res photos below.

We haven't necessarily had a shortage of photos of the Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce. In addition to the first batch of press photos released by Lamborghini, we also captured the super-Murcielago on the show floor in Geneva and once again here in the United States when it stopped by at one of our favorite weekly car gatherings. Even so, our salivary glands went into overdrive when we saw this latest batch of photos of the SuperVeloce. There' s just something about the outrageous over-the-top styling that takes us back to being a teenager. Check out the high-res gallery below for all the new photos.

Sam Hubinette is one lucky guy. The Crazy Swede gets sideways in an 800-horsepower Dodge Viper for his day job and does occasional stunt driving in his off time. Last year Lamborghini hired him to drift the Gallardo LP560-4 in the streets of Los Angeles for a commercial, and they must have liked it so much that they hired him again to burn rubber in the brand, brand new Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce in Germany. The video is the first we have seen of the car outside the show floor of the Geneva Motor Show, and while shorter than the Gallardo vid, it does at least provide a soundtrack for the upgraded V12 that's now producing 670 horsepower. Typical of Lamborghini special editions, the only thing that the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce lacks is restraint. Its revised 6.5L V12 puts out 670 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque through its all-wheel-drive system, allowing the SV to rocket to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 212 mph. The Murcie's been lightened by 220 pounds and features Reventon-inspired front and rear fascias, along with a hexagonal engine cover and an "Aeropack Wing" to provide an additional bit of down-force when shooting passed the double century. The doors have yet to swing open at the Geneva Motor Show, but that small detail doesn't seem to be stemming the tide of embargo-smashing images and details of the eagerly anticipated new cars and trucks contained inside, including what may be the first picture of Lamborghini's latest piece of rolling artwork, the Murciélago LP 670-4 SV. Specifications for the new raging bull are still tough to come by, but a quick dissection of the car's name reveals a peak output of 670 horsepower and all-wheel drive.

The SV (Super Velocé, or Super Fast for us non-Italian speaking types) part is aided along by a weight reduction of 100 kg (220 lbs) through the extensive use of carbon fiber and magnesium. If early reports are correct, we can expect the run to 60 to take just over 3 seconds and a top speed of 342 km/h (212 mph). Super Velocé indeed. Stay tuned for live shots just as soon as those doors to the Geneva PalExpo center are officially unlocked.

The Lamborghini Murcielago is an aging beast. Since its introduction in 2001, the big Lambo has bred a seemingly endless string of variants, including fixed-roof and open-top models, the upgraded LP640, Versace special editions and, of course, the seven-figure Reventon supercar. But before Sant'Agata replaces the Murcielago, it will debut what could be range's the ultimate rendition at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Lambo's performance engineers will do their best to counteract the Murcielago's Jurassic-age steel chassis by trimming weight in order to give the behemoth the Superleggera treatment it performed on the previous Gallardo. As previously reported, carbon fiber and magnesium are expected to be employed, along with removing some extraneous trim in the interior, to cut some 220-pounds from the stock Murcielago.

The lighter Lambo is also expected to get an upgraded engine, pumping out 670 horsepower -- 30 more than the existing LP640 thanks in part to a roof-mounted induction system -- and the SV will retain the big bull's all-wheel drive system (earlier speculation suggested that the car would in fact be rear-wheel drive). A choice of rear wings will be available, E-gear shift times have reportedly been halved to just 0.2 seconds, and gloss black forged alloys will be fitted, along with carbon-ceramic brakes to trim unsprung weight and increase stopping power. We should know more about the long-named Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce as we get closer to the Geneva show, so stay tuned.
