A Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 starts at around $350,000 and can quickly crest $400,000 with the addition of a few options and a dropable top, and the LP640-4 starts at $450,000. That's a lot of coin to be sure, but in the spirit of pulling together to ride out this whole "recession" thing, Lamborghini is looking to ease the blow of $7,000 per month financing with a new 0% offer for the 2009 and 2010 Murciélago coupe and roadster. The Italian supercar maker is offering 0% for up to 60 months for customers with credit scores over 740 and down payments somewhere north of 10% (the press release doesn't provide an exact number). That's a pretty big bargain considering a buyer picking up an LP640 for $400,000 with $80,000 down (20%) for $5,333.33 per month over 60 months, while the typical 5.9% interest rate would bring the monthly payment to $6171.63 with $50,297.67 in accumulated interest over the course of the loan.

Lamborghini is also offering 5.9% interest for up to 12 years for customers with 10% down and a credit score of 700. That makes for a monthly payment of about $3,500 per month on a $400,000 LP640, with $143,000 in interest over the course of the loan. While those loan terms sound all right to us, we're sadly still a bit short on funds for the Autoblog garage. Hit the jump to read over the Lamborghini presser.

Looks like it'll be an all-out supercar showdown next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In addition to the McLaren MP4-12C and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG - not to mention the Ferrari 458 Italia - Lamborghini will reportedly be showing off the roadster version of its million-plus dollar Reventón.

Sporting the same stealth fighter-inspired angular bodywork as the standard Reventón that was unveiled two years ago at the same auto show, the new topless Lambo will reportedly make use of its all-wheel drive system to help the run to 60 in just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is expected to be well over 200 miles per hour, as you'd expect from an Italian supercar with a mid-mounted 650-horsepower V12 powerplant.

Stay tuned for live shots and official details as the festivities in Frankfurt draw ever closer, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our gallery of images below. Thanks to everyone for the tips!
Now sources suggest that the Raging Bull brand could be preparing to unveil the Reventón Roadster at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, with only ten to be built, packing the more potent 670 horsepower engine from the SuperVeloce.

By slapping on some edgy body panels and glitzy instruments, Sant'Agata managed to bump the Murcielago's price up into seven-figure territory, and they could do it again by lopping off the Reventón's roof (or slapping said panels on the Murci Roadster, depending on how you look at it). But while they could very well unveil the car in Frankfurt, with the Balboni edition Gallardo yet to make its public debut, they may also opt to make good on their commitment of a new product at every major auto show and keep the Reventón Roadster under wraps until a later date.

[Source: LamboCars.com via The Car Connection]
Rumormill: Lamborghini to unveil Reventón Roadster at Frankfurt show originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 21 Aug 2009 09:00:00 EST.
Reiter Engineering used last weekend's 24 Hours of Spa race to reveal its Murcielago LP670 R-SV, a GT1 race-ready version of the already hardened LP 670-4 SV. The box-stock Lambo already shed 220 pounds compared to its non SV brethren, weighing in at 3,451 pounds. The Reiter racer, stripped of any non-essentials and with a body rendered entirely in carbon fiber, drops further 921 pounds to weigh in at just 2,530 pounds (1,150 kg).

Reiter is hoping the car will be one of the six allowable brands chosen for next year's FIA GT World Championship.
No news may be good news for most people, but it makes for some tiresome boredom and excess spare time to news jockeys like us. Fortunately, while the rest of us were playing xBox or configuring our fantasy cars online, our compatriots over at Inside Line were putting their slow news days to good use with the pie chart you see above. Yes, a pie chart.

Using official numbers furnished by the manufacturer, the staff at IL's Straightline blog charted Lamborghini's entire sales by model. That huge orange wedge you see there? That's the Gallardo, in all its iterations (the original coupe and roadster, Superleggera, special editions, LP560-4, etc.). Total production of the Gallardo range to date tops 9,900, and is well on course to shatter the 10,000 mark for the first time in Sant'Agata history. What's even more interesting, though, is that if you take out the gray wedge that represents the Gallardo's big brother, the Murcielago, you can see that Lamborghini has sold more Gallardos than it has all other models combined, which totaled 9,500 before the current pair was introduced. Talk about grabbing a bull by the horns.

[Source: Inside Line]
Pie in the Sky Perspective: Charting out Lamborghini production by model originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 17:31:00 EST.
If you've been waiting for Lamborghini to replace the aging Murcielago and were disappointed by recent reports that its successor may not arrive until 2012, the mavens over at Autogespot may have some good news for you.

While the Murci may stay on for another few years, word has it that Lamborghini is working on another model, apparently to run in parallel. The reports suggest that the new model, tentatively dubbed Jota (after the label previously used on special Miuras and Diablos of yore), will use the Murcielago's V12, albeit packaged in a shorter wheelbase with an even wider track and lightweight materials.

Any truth to the rumors? It's hard to tell, but in the meantime, Sant'Agata is said to be working on a Reventón Roadster to follow up on the limited-edition fighter jet-inspired supercar.

[Source: Autogespot]
Rumormill: Lamborghini working on short-wheelbase V12 Jota, Reventón Roadster originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 16:27:00 EST. The Countach stayed in production for sixteen years from its introduction in 1974 until the Diablo replaced it in 1990, which in turn anchored Sant'Agata's line-up for eleven years until the Murcielago was introduced in 2001. Now eight years in production, the steel-bodied Raging Bull has grown pretty long in the tooth, even if it can still hold its own against its contemporary competition.

In order to keep it fresh, the Murci has spawned a seemingly endless succession of variants, from the original through the LP640, 40th Anniversary and Versace editions, fixed roof and roadsters versions, the Reventón, LP650-4 Roadster and LP670-4 SuperVeloce. Lambo's done a good job of keeping its biggest, baddest fighting bovine with the times, but they know it's about time this aging bull be put to pasture. However if the latest reports are any indication, it may yet be a couple of years more before the Murci meets its replacement.

When it does come along, though, Auto Motor und Sport says we can expect the new flagship Lambo to ditch the Murci's outmoded steel chassis in favor of an aluminum one - likely based on the Audi R8's. Draped in aluminum and carbon fiber, the chassis will, in all likelihood, carry a revised version of the Bizzarrini-designed V12 that was the company's first engine and which has, with considerable modification, carried on in the company's supercars ever since. While the wheelbase is expected to carry over from the outgoing Murcielago, the front overhang is expected to shrink, while all-wheel-drive will continue to put the power down to the tarmac.

[Source: Auto Motor und Sport]
Rendered Speculation: Lamborghini Murcielago successor not coming until 2012 originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 01 Jun 2009 16:27:00 EST.
A new supercar is a cause good enough on its own; all the more so when the car in question is being auctioned off to raise funds for charity. In this case, the very first U.S.-bound Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder to roll off the assembly line in Sant'Agata Bolognese was auctioned off this past weekend to the highest bidder at the 16th Annual Race to Erase MS event in LA.

This particular Lambo Spyder was prepared especially for the charity event, in black with orange accents in the organization's colors. The winning bid of $270,000 (a good $50k or so over list) was placed together by Kymberly Gold of True Religion Jeans and music producer Victor Newman, who will apparently be sharing the two-seat roadster when it arrives at the beginning of U.S. delivery next month. Proceeds from the auction - part of the $2 million raised at this year's event - go to the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis, and the funds will be earmarked for MS research and public awareness campaigns. Details in the press release after the jump.

Gallery: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder

[Source: Lamborghini]
Continue reading First US-bound Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder raises $270k at charity auction

First US-bound Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder raises $270k at charity auction originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 11 May 2009 15:58:00 EST.
Most automakers try desperately to hold on to their roots. Just look at all the anniversaries we've been celebrating lately and you'll know what we mean. Lamborghini, on the other hand, seems keen to leave them behind. That's probably because Lamborghini's roots are actually in agriculture. As any sportscar aficionado worth his salt will tell you, Ferruccio Lamborghini started out building tractors and only got into the sportscar business to piss off Enzo Ferrari. The gap between its tractors and sportscars was bridged only by the LM002 sport-ute, known as the Rambo Lambo. But one aspiring designer is keen to resoil Lamborghini's past and present into one vehicle, and you're looking at it right here.

Called the Lamborghini Toro, it's the brainchild of aspiring Canadian designer Jason Battersby. Taking cues from Lambo's own agricultural equipment and its supercars, the Toro cuts a mean profile to envision what an integrated product would look like. Of course it's just a series of conceptual renderings, which you can view in the gallery below. But a small town farm boy can dream, can't he?

Gallery: Lamborghini Toro tractor concept

[Source: JBDesign via eGMCarTech]
Remember your Roots: Lamborghini Toro tractor concept originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 06 May 2009 12:33:00 EST.
Forget about the latest LP560-4 or the limited-production Superleggera that preceded it: what you're looking at here is the ultimate Gallardo. Only it's not made by Lamborghini. Unlike its arch-rivals in Maranello, Lamborghini doesn't make racing cars. For that, it turns over its supercars to Reiter Engineering, the German garage that fields renn-ready Raging Bulls in European sportscar championships, and has also turned out a few variants for the street, too. The firm has just released its latest effort, a competition spec Gallardo for the GT2 class in the European Le Mans Series.

Based on the Gallardo LP560-4, Reiter has done away with the all-wheel-drive and gone with rear-wheel traction only for its Racing Bull. To meet GT2 regulations, Reiter will have had to actually reduce the engine's output from the stock 560hp to below the 500hp mark, and possibly added some ballast to fine-tune the weight balance and meet the 1125kg minimum heft requirement for the series. Instead of starting the season in Barcelona with the rest of the field, Reiter has opted to perform some additional testing before hitting the track at Spa on May 10. You, however, can check out the images in the gallery below for a sneak peek.

Gallery: Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT2

[Source: Reiter Engineering]
Reiter Engineering launches new Gallardo LP560 GT2 originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 13:59:00 EST. The limited run of Reventon seven-figure supercars are still rolling off the line, the Gallardo LP560-4 is reaching the market, the crowds at the Paris Motor Show were wowed by the four-door Estoque concept, there's an anticipated Superveloce (SV) version of the Murcielago on its way, and all the while, the team at Sant'Agata has been working on an all-new supercar. Sources differ on whether the new model, tentatively known as the Jota (reviving a classic Lamborghini nameplate) will emerge as another limited-edition ultra-car to rival the Ferrari Enzo or whether it will serve as the replacement for the aging Murcielago. The latter has been on the market for about seven years now in various iterations, the original breeding the Roadster, the LP640 revision, a handful of Versace editions and the aforementioned Reventon. But Lambo has known for a while now that its supercar, as eminently desirable as it remains, is due for replacement.

The spy shots, snapped (where else) at the Nürburgring, show a test mule running with Murcielago bodywork, only with a few key modifications that betray its secret identity like Clark Kent caught without his glasses. For starters, the wheels are bearing what appears to be some sort of telemetry hubs. The vehicle also appears even wider than the linebacker Murcielago, and the vents behind the side windows have a different shape. Eyewitness accounts suggest the new Raging Bull will wear lightweight carbon fiber bodywork, except for the doors and roof, which seems like an odd choice. The Reventon-inspired bodywork is expected to be laid over an aluminum spaceframe to replace the current Murcielago's outdated and overweight steel tub. We expect the vehicle to retain its all-wheel-drive system - by now a hallmark of modern Lambos - with power coming from the latest version of the company's perennial V12, but with the potential addition of direct injection for improved power delivery. Whether the car in question will emerge as yet another limited version of the existing Murcielago or its anticipated replacement will become clearer as we get closer to its anticipated debut in two years as a 2011 model. But our money's on the latter.

Just in from Lamborghini, a very nebulous pre-release that reads only:

"It's not just a new Lamborghini. It's a new world."

The above photo accompanies it, showing only a center-exit exhaust, some rear grillework, and a carbon fiber diffuser. And that's it.
When I was a kid, I used to sit in front of the computer and draw up concept cars on Microsoft Paint. It was, and still is, a very primitive application, but it was simple enough for me to use back in grade school. I even designed the graphics for a local ISP's website on MS Paint, but that was the extent of it.

Here's someone, meanwhile, with the know-how and the skills who decided to render a Lamborghini Murcielago, with considerable detail and skill, all on Microsoft Paint. What's more is that he captured the entire process on video and uploaded it to YouTube, from blank page to finished product. Someone with too much time on his hands? Probably, but his video has been making the rounds. And remember, if the time-lapse nine-minute video has you bored halfway through, think of how long it must have taken him in real time.

The terms "exotic" and "SUV" seldom go together. With few exceptions, the closest you might get is the Porsche Cayenne, or in reference to the rig you use to tow your supercar from track to concours. One notable exception is the Lamborghini LM002. Nicknamed the "Rambo Lambo", it bridged the gap between the company's tractor and supercar divisions in a military truck that makes the HUMMER look like a Tonka. It was powered by the V12 out of the Countach, and only 300 were said to have been built. With those limited numbers, they don't change hands all that often, but one shining example has just come rumbling onto eBay Motors.

Serial Number ZA9LU45A2JLA12069, in red over tan, is advertised as just having undergone a major servicing where many components were repaired, replaced and upgraded, including newly refinished cylinder heads, gaskets, brakes, suspension, new tires all around (road rubber to replace the off-road Pirelli Scorpions), new interior carpets, reconditioned leather interior, front and rear brush guards, side rails, transfer case, relocated fuel tank, new sound system with overhead speakers and new exhaust system.

With a Buy-It-Now price just shy of $100k, at the time of writing the bids were up to $61,300. That may seem like a huge chunk of change for one of the ugliest, worst-handling, worst-riding, gas-guzzling trucks ever to chew up the road, but you go and try to find something with more road presence.

Exactly how fast are British motorists driving, anyway? Apparently the Renault F1 car just wasn't enough for their highway patrol, so the London Met Police have procured a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 into their motor pool.

Unlike the Italian police who received a patrol-prepped Gallardo pursuit vehicle from Lamborghini, it looks like (as with the F1 car) the London bobbies won't actually be keeping or using this car, admitting (or reassuring British taxpayers) that the exotic was not actually paid for with public funds. Most of the Lambo's grey paintjob was left in tact, with yellow and blue checkers pasted down the sides and lights on the roof.

The car is part of an exhibition at the MPH '06 car show in Birmingham. The photo shoot reportedly had to be hurried as the spectacle was in danger of causing traffic accidents, and during the eight miles the constables drove it, it was pulled over twice by other curious cops.

The resulting 2.5-liter, turbocharged five-cylinder would produce an estimated 350 horsepower, according to Todd Lassa from Motor Trend who reported the project was being developed under the working name of TT-Lambo.

AutoExpress, however, is reporting that Audi has nix'd any plans to build a TT faster than the current TT S-line in order to leave room for the upcoming R8 "everyday" supercar, which is expected to use a version of the Gallardo's V10, as well. While we certainly respect Audi's desire not to produce vehicles that compete with another in the marketplace, we hardly think a 350-hp, front-engine sports car competes on the same level as a 500-hp, mid-engine supercar (the Gallardo develops 500 horses, so we assume the R8's power will be around that number, too). Audi seems to be doing pretty well without our advice, though.

[Source: AutoExpress]
Audi TT-Lambo a no go originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 06 Sep 2006 18:03:00 EST.
Newport Beach millionaire Richard Moriarty has a thing for exotic art. How else to explain the fact that the Californian's gone and mounted a 1974 Lamborghini Countach onto a wall in his home?

No small operation, the Italian supercar was hoisted into place by a five-man crew using a 70-ton crane. The Countach's engine has been separated from Moriarty's new wall hanging, and now serves as a coffee table.
