<p>Mitsubishi will no longer be absent from the starting grid of the SCCA Speed World Challenge with the new WORKS-prepared SWC Lancer race car. The tuning company that specializes in tweaking EVOs, in a partnership with Mitsubishi North America, will be hitting the racetracks next year against Mazda, BMW, Audi, and more with two-time U.S. Touring Car champion David Brown behind the wheel. The car received new front and rear coilovers, two-piece rotors with Brembo calipers, a racing clutch and flywheel, and a fully built Mitsubishi inline-4 among other racing necessities. Pending its final homologation, it will race the full 2008 season in the Touring Car class. Follow the jump for the full details in the press release.</p>

While it's not that hard to beat the most miserly of full-size pickups in the MPG dept., doing that without sacrificing very much of the truck's capabilities is what's most impressive about the Silverado Hybrid. GM quotes fuel savings to be 40% better in city driving, with a 25% improvement overall. The hybrid Silverado can also hit 30 mph in electric-only mode for up to one mile depending on battery's state of charge. We <a href="http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/autoshows/la2007/gm/silvinterview.html">teamed up</a> with Pickuptruck.com editor Mike Levine to interview Silverado Program Manager Carl Hillenbrand, and the long-time GM truck man had plenty to say about the general's greenest-ever pickup. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/l-a-auto-show-robocar-2057-volkswagen-slipstream/">Volkswagen Slipstream</a> team, headed by Derek Jenkins, walked away with the trophy: a cyborg hand that plays Beethoven, equipped with scrolling LEDs displaying the title of the contest. Okie dokie. Anyway, the SlipStream can operate vertically for around town cruising and then lay itself down for high-speed cruises up to 250 mph. <br /><br />A while back we posted on each competitor in the 2007 Design Challenge, of which there were eight. You can view them all <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/robocar">here</a> if you can't recall that far back, but they were an unforgettable bunch of sci-fi machines. We held an unofficial poll to find out which entrant you thought would win, and surprisingly the Volkswagen only received 5.8% of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/12/poll-the-year-is-2057-what-are-you-driving/">votes</a> in our poll, the absolute lowest ranked one of the bunch. Regardless, the SlipStream won the official prize, so go figure.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-volkswagen-slipstream-wins-the-2007-la-design-challenge/">LA 2007: Volkswagen SlipStream wins 2007 LA Design Challenge</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 17:05:00 EST. The combination of a custom six-inch wide body kit, Satin Black Pearl Paint and Satin Bronze accents make this IS-F a sports sedan we'd be happy to roll in. The installation of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/02/sema-wheels-five-axis-introduces-five-ad-wheel-lineup/">FiveAxis' own custom 20-inch wheels</a> (20x8.5 in front and 20x10.5 out back), swathed in the same bronze hue as the ducting, diffusers and exhausts, ties everything together, and the lowered ride height provided by the Tein adjustable coilovers brings it all down to earth, literally.<br /><br />Performance is aided by a custom exhaust system and what FiveAxis is calling a "Stage 2" engine package. What that means is beyond us, but we're sure it's got potential. Slowing those undefined extra horses is a set of Brembos at all four corners: 380 mm discs with six-piston calipers up front and 345 mm plates grabbed by two-piston calipers in the rear.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f">FiveAxis Lexus IS-F</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/fiveaxisis-f---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/fiveaxisis-f---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/fiveaxisis-f---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/fiveaxisis-f---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fiveaxis-lexus-is-f/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/fiveaxisis-f---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-lexus-is-f-gets-fiveaxisetized/">LA 2007: Lexus IS-F gets FiveAxified</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 16:28:00 EST. And no wonder, as Vee-Dub is hoping its new small sport-ute sells big, especially in the all-important US market, and especially in California where nobody needs a truck yet everybody has one (and parks it next to their Prius).<br /><br />Volkswagen of America revealed that Tiguan is priced to sell with a starting MSRP of just $22,490. With just two sport-utes in its lineup, that gives VW a huge price-point spread that stretches all the way up to $68,320 for the bigger <a href="http://autos.aol.com/cars-Volkswagen-Touareg+2-2008/overview">Touareg 2</a> with the jumbo-jet-pulling V10 TDI.<br /><br />Volkswagen is evidently hoping that the Tiguan will become the Golf of the sport-ute market after it hits US dealers this coming summer. Cal. culture of the LA Auto Show when it tasked Andry Specialty Vehicles to create the SX4-based Makai concept. After lopping off the roof, shaving the door handles and adding a NACA-like duct in the hood, they sprayed down the sedan in orange paint and accented it with the silver rollover hoop that provides another mounting point to attach a set of surfboards. LED running lights add some subtle flavor and 19-inch CEC wheels fill the widened wheel arches that frame four-wheel disc brakes with Rotora calipers.<br /><br />Although the exterior appointments are cool enough, our favorite feature is inside. Instead of fitting the concept seats - normally an ergonomic disaster - it looks like Suzuki made a trek to their corporate pool, plucked the chairs from around the frosted glass table and welded them inside. The results are equal parts style and functionality that give soaking surfers a place to rest without mucking up the standard cloth seats. It certainly won't score any points in the safety department (nor will the lack of seatbelts), but we'll give them a 6.2 for originality.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept">Suzuki SX4 Makai concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/suzukisx4makai---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/suzukisx4makai---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/suzukisx4makai---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/suzukisx4makai---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/suzukisx4makai---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-surfs-up-suzuki-sx4-makai-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: Surf's up! The differences between our GSR and the MR aren't many, but depending on your preferences they might not be minor. The standard GSR has a radio and power accessories, but <span style="font-style: italic;">does not</span> come with a wing -- that would get added in the Sight, Sound, and Spoiler package, which throws in HID headlamps and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate system. The optional package for the MR is the Technology Package, which adds goodies to the stereo system (like a subwoofer and hard drive), Bluetooth, navigation, and the Fast Key entry system.<br /><br />When it comes to inner workings, the GS rides on 18-inch Enkeis. The MR gets 18-inch BBS forged alloys, as well as Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach springs, and 2-piece rotors. Voila. Lancer Evo X pricing <a href="http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/11/15/la-auto-show-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evo-unofficial-pricing-info/">according to one source</a> will be around $30,000 for the GSR, and $36,000 for the MR. Follow the jump to read the full press release and options, and check out our live shots of the car's reveal in the gallery below. Video of the live introduction is also available after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution">2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07la_evox-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1">2008 Mitsubishi EVO X</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/evo-x---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-us-spec-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-lands/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: US-spec 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution lands (VIDEO)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-us-spec-2008-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-lands/">LA 2007: US-spec 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution lands (VIDEO)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 14:57:00 EST. Just like the JDM version, the STI benefits from a wider track and a longer wheelbase, but power is provided by Subaru's 2.5-liter boxer four making 305 hp and 290 lb.-ft. of torque. The sprint to sixty will be dispatched in 4.9 seconds, and Subie execs are touting the engine's new torque characteristics as more tractable and effortlessly exciting. Aluminum suspension components partner with inverted struts to keep all four wheels planted and providing motivation, while a redesigned DCCD allows drivers to select six different differential settings.<br /><br />Pricing has been set at $34,995 and Subaru began taking orders today. Check out Subaru's official press release after the jump and our gallery of high-res live shots below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti">2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/sti---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/sti---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/sti---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/sti---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/sti---13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-2008-subaru-wrx-sti-priced-at-34-995/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: 2008 Subaru WRX STI priced at $34,995 (VIDEO)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/la-2007-2008-subaru-wrx-sti-priced-at-34-995/">LA 2007: 2008 Subaru WRX STI priced at $34,995 (VIDEO)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 14:21:00 EST. Finally, all the speculation shall come to rest. After weaseling our way onto the show floor before the doors opened this morning, we made a B-line for the Bimmer booth to check it out for ourselves. The 135i sat on its pedestal, but unlike every other model there, the telltale placard was absent. Five minutes of snooping later, we hit gold behind a wall and you can check out the entire pricing and options list after the jump.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/bmw_plaque_800.jpg"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/plaque_250_op.jpg" alt="" /></a>Pricing for the 135i starts at $35,675 -- very close to what's been rumored since its unveiling in Frankfurt. While that's certainly on the high side of things, it's not until you start optioning up the coupe that things get out of hand. REALLY out of hand. Tick the box for an automatic, and you're up another $1,275. Want the paddle shifters? Tack on another $100. The premium package boosts it up another $3,300; navigation with iDrive, $2,100. And on, and on, and on. The only thing missing is the price of the rarified air in the cabin, but BMW was nice enough to provide the windshield for free.<br /><br />Bottom line: if you MAX-OUT the 135i, you're looking at over $52,000. Considering that a base 3-series comes in at around $32k (stripped), you'd better be very confident with your decision to be the first on your block to sport BMW's new hotness.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics">BMW 1-Series Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/bmw-strike-officially-strike-accidentally-prices-135i-at-35/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW <strike>officially</strike> accidentally prices 135i at $35,675*</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/15/bmw-strike-officially-strike-accidentally-prices-135i-at-35/">BMW <strike>officially</strike> accidentally prices 135i at $35,675*</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 11:55:00 EST. <p>While wondering the halls of the LA convention center we happened upon this Mosler MT900S with an... interesting paint scheme. It's even got color-matched carbon fiber Dymag wheels and yellow brake calipers to go with the Big Bird interior. While it may look like it just dropped out of a bag of Skittles, this Mosler has an LS7 V8 on board with 550 horsepower and 490 lb-ft torque for a 0-60 mph time of three seconds flat. We'll take ours in Darth Vader black <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/20/george-lucas-receives-first-mosler-mt900-supercar/">like the one George Lucas got</a>, thank you very much. </p>

Yeah, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-jaguar-xf-in-the-feline-flesh/">been there, done that</a> in Frankfurt last September. But Jaguar did announce a nice nugget of news at its presser, which is that the '09 Jaguar XF will start at $49,975 when it goes on sale March 1, 2008 in the U.S. That's for the "standard" XF with the naturally-aspirated 4.2L V8. An uplevel version of the NA V8 model called the V8 Premium Luxury will base at $55,975. Finally, the Supercharged XF with the 420-horsepower supercharged 4.2L V8 will start at a mighty $62,975. While all prices include a $775 charge for destination and delivery, that's a heady brew to swallow. Will Americans go for such an expensive Jaguar sedan considering the brand's performance in recent years? That's the make-it-or-break-it question we can't wait see answered. <br /><br />Check out Jaguar's official press release after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: Jaguar]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1">2009 Jaguar XF</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/)7_frank_jaguarxf-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/)7_frank_jaguarxf-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/)7_frank_jaguarxf-15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/)7_frank_jaguarxf-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-jaguar-xf-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/)7_frank_jaguarxf-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/2009-jaguar-xf-will-range-from-49-975-to-62-975/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2009 Jaguar XF will range from $49,975 to $62,975</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/2009-jaguar-xf-will-range-from-49-975-to-62-975/">2009 Jaguar XF will range from $49,975 to $62,975</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 20:10:00 EST. <p>Seeing the 2008 Dodge Viper ACR in person makes you wonder even more how this thing is legal to drive on public streets. The carbon fiber front spoiler and winglets have more of a visual effect up close, and the rear wing would be absolutely ridiculous if it weren't functional... but it is. The asymmetrical paint scheme back up the race car look even more, although it looks a little goofy from straight on. We've added another 18 live shots to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-dodge-viper-srt10-acr/">2008 Viper ACR's gallery</a> for you to closely inspect the car, as well.</p>

The car it unveiled here in the City of Angels was little more than a redressed version the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue/">van concept</a> they showed in Tokyo, as well.<br /><br />The space up! blue takes the up! space and adds a hydrogen-electric hybrid powerplant and a solar panel on the roof. Volkswagen says the van will go into production, in one form or another, but without the advanced powerplant. And likely without the solar roof, either. They're "Pie in the sky" as the Volkswagen board member called it. And so, we're back where we were in Tokyo (only with a cameo by former pro baller John "Spider" Salley). That being said, the car itself is a quirky take on the retro-modern theme that could prove popular with young, trendy families if VW has its way.<br /><br />Click on the galleries below to check out live shots from the space up! blue's unveiling VW's original factory images. The press release has also been included after the jump. Sit down with a nice cup of tea and enjoy.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept">LA 2007: VW space up! blue concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/vw_space-up-blue01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/vw_space-up-blue02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/vw_space-up-blue03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/vw_space-up-blue04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/vw_space-up-blue05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue">VW space up! blue</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-volkswagen-space-up-blue/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: Deja Vu with Volkswagen space up! blue</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-volkswagen-space-up-blue/">LA 2007: Deja Vu with Volkswagen space up! blue</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 18:48:00 EST. T-minus 15 minutes until the press conference begins.<br /><br /><strong>5:30 PM: </strong>Joel and John from Hyundai USA are talking on stage. We're about to start!<br /><br /><strong>5:32 PM: </strong>They admit enthusiastic car buffs don't usually look at Hyundai, save for a few Tiburon owners. <br /><br /><strong>5:34 PM: </strong>CONFIRMED: Front-wheel-drive Tiburon replacement and rear-wheel-drive coupe are two different vehicles.<br /><br /><strong>5:35 PM:</strong> Showing video of RWD test mule all covered up being thrashed on the road. Now it's being chased by a photographer on a motorcycle. We're so confused here. <br /><br /><strong>5:36 PM:</strong> The sheet's pulled off. Pics are on their way, but we can tell you the vehicle is very tuner-oriented. Called the Concept Genesis Coupe. Bright orange paint and vented carbon fiber hood pop. <p> </p>
<p>For 2008, Chevy is adding to its small car lineup with the return of the Aveo5. Two trim levels are being offered, including a Special Value Model and LS. Key standard features include 60/40 flip-and-fold rear seats, standard dual front and side-impact air bags, and body-color rear-view mirrors and door handles. Those wanting a little more with the LS version can opt for ABS brakes, cruise control, power sunroof, remote keyless entry, a six-speaker sound system and more. <br /></p>
<p>The look of the new Aveo5 is identical to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-chevy-aveo-falls-down-ugly-tree-in-europe-hits/">one introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show for the European market</a>. Whereas the Euro model features your choice of a 1.2L producing 84 HP or a 1.4L producing 98 HP, the U.S. version will only be available with a 1.6L Ecotec four-cylinder producing 107 HP. The looks, however, are the same, which in our humble opinion is not a good thing. Surprisingly, many of you disagreed with us when the Euro-market Aveo5 debuted, claiming that it's not that bad. Still think so?<br /></p>

Starting at $69,850 or slightly more for the premium package, this <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/25/video-nissan-gt-r-laps-the-nurburgring-in-7-38/">7:38 Ring lapper</a> represents a true performance bargain. In fact, with its twin-turbo 3.8L V6 churning out a healthy 480 HP and 430 ft-lbs of torque, this AWD supercar may bump the Z06 as the best bang-for-your buck when you factor in the practicality of its design. Fans of the new GT-R are well-versed in what they get for that money and can now see the undisguised face and tail in American trim. Carlos Ghosn himself revealed the car after we were teased with a quick animated trailer in which the GT-R led a certain German Turbo around various tracks and roads, seemingly without working up a sweat. That aforementioned Ring time certainly seems to back up the performance claims. Look for the GT-R in a select group of Nissan dealers that meet specific and stringent certification standards by early summer. Pre-orders will start in January, but we suggest you buy a tent and start camping out now.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r">US Spec 2009 Nissan GT-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/usgtr---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/usgtr---10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/usgtr---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/usgtr---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/us-spec-2009-nissan-gt-r/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/usgtr---13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-nissan-gt-r-newest-performance-bargain-at-69-850/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R huge performance bargain at $69,850</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-nissan-gt-r-newest-performance-bargain-at-69-850/">LA 2007: U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R huge performance bargain at $69,850</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 15:41:00 EST. These shots were taken minutes ago on the show floor, and reveals that the car Hyundai will have on hand is wearing orange and sporting styling cues not seen on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/08/hyundai-coupe-fully-undesguised/">car that was spied at a marketing event</a> last week. For instance, the wheels on the model debuting later today are different and much more attractive than those on the earlier car. This car's front end also appears to be different than the earlier marketing car, with a chin spoiler in black hanging off of what appears to be a larger lower air intake. Finally, there's also what appears to be black trim ahead of the rear wheel that could be for show, could be a faux scoop or may be a protective piece that's pulled off before the debut. Either way, we're happy to bring you these photos and sate your curiosity for a few hours before we can publish the mother load of info on Hyundai's new rear-wheel-drive coupe.<br /><br />[Photos: Brenda Priddy &amp; Co.]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-rwd-coupe-spy-shots-from-la">Hyundai RWD Coupe - spy shots from LA</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-rwd-coupe-spy-shots-from-la/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/la2007_hyundaicoupe_spy-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-rwd-coupe-spy-shots-from-la/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/la2007_hyundaicoupe_spy-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-rwd-coupe-spy-shots-from-la/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/la2007_hyundaicoupe_spy-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe">2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe private reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/img_1135_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/img_1167_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/img_1165_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/img_1136_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-hyundai-coupe/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/img_1172_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/spy-shots-hyundai-coupe-caught-on-the-floor-of-la-auto-show/">Spy Shots: Hyundai RWD Coupe caught on floor of LA Auto Show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 14:09:00 EST. The full-sized sedan will be initially launched with FWD, but will offer AWD as a cost option (and a turbo gas engine with direct injection), and will start at $37,985. That price, Mark Fields was sure to tell us, is $5,000 less than a Cadillac STS V6. Even fully optioned, the MKS won't touch $50,000, which puts it at $5,000 under a similarly-equipped Lexus GS350 and Acura RL. Check the 'value' box, then, will you?<br /><br />Designed by Peter Horbury (ex of Volvo), the car has "jewel-like headlamps, well proportioned athleticism," stainless steel accents, and a host of other design cliches. However, it also has some novel design touches. And it's got the only 20-inch wheels as standard in its class. The overall shape of the car looks good from the side -- and it's even better if you're a fan of stainless steel accents (it <em>is</em> a Lincoln, after all) -- and we are terrifically happy to see a car make it from concept to showroom with a standard set of wheel-well-filling rims. The rear end genuinely interests us, with Euro-Asian cues and a raked rear window that truncates the trunk profile making us think (forgive us) Sebring Done Right. <br /><br />Follow the jump for more, including video of the live reveal in LA.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-the-marvelous-2009-lincoln-mks-revealed-live-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: 2009 Lincoln MKS revealed live [VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-the-marvelous-2009-lincoln-mks-revealed-live-video/">LA 2007: 2009 Lincoln MKS revealed live [VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 13:48:00 EST. The space up! blue is a fuel cell hybrid with plug-in capabilities. It leverages a high-temperature fuel cell (the world's first, according to VW) in concert with a lithium-ion battery array to power a rear-mounted electric motor. A solar panel on the roof also helps charge the onboard batteries. On battery power alone, the little cruiser has a range of 65 miles with a full charge. When the fuel cell is added into the mix, maximum range increases to 220 miles. VW claims that its high temperature fuel cell (FC-HT) is more production-viable in the long tun than competing fuel cell tech because it's lighter, more geared to everyday use and less costly to produce. That's very encouraging news, to be sure. Now, if only they had figured out a way to allow for roof-mounted surfboards without blocking the solar panel...<br /><br />[Source: VW]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue">VW space up! blue</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/vw-space-up-blue/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/spaceupblue_hi05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: VW space up! blue</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-vw-space-up-blue/">LA 2007: VW space up! blue</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 10:23:00 EST. To put it lightly, the brand has struggled to find it's place in the automotive landscape. The vehicles from Ford's premium domestic division haven't had a coherent look since the early '80s. Several of its models, such as the LS and the Navigator, have sold well at times, but the absence of a Lincoln DNA hasn't helped. In 2006, North American Design chief Peter <span suggestions="Hobey,Rebury,Hoebart,Bury,Harbour" class="misspell">Horbury</span> set about changing all that. He gave his team the task of examining past Lincolns to determine what set them apart. <br /><br />The first new model intended to set Lincoln on it's path to rebirth is the 2009 MKS, which is making its debut in production form at the LA Auto Show later today. The MKS first appeared as <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/09/lincoln-mks-specs-and-pics/">a concept</a> at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. It's based on the same platform as the Ford 500/Taurus, which originated at Volvo under the S80/<span suggestions="XX,CC,XCI,XV,C" class="misspell">XC</span>90. When the concept first appeared it was reasonably well received as a pleasant if not daring design for the marque. Subsequently, <span suggestions="Hobey's,Hoebart's,Harbour's,Hobart's,Harry's" class="misspell">Horbury's</span> team began its quest for the soul of Lincoln and came up with a list of seven elements that would be part of future Lincoln designs. Most of these appeared on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/12/live-from-dearborn-driving-the-lincoln-mkr-concept/">2007 MKR</a> concept that we saw in Detroit. While most of the MKS was already locked in for production, after the show Ford management made the decision to adopt one of most prominent elements from the new MKR concept, its grille. <br /><br />[Source: Lincoln]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks">2009 Lincoln MKS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07mkslive_0010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07mkslive_0013_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07mkslive_0014_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07mkslive_0016_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/la-2007-lincoln-mks/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/07mkslive_0018_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-2009-lincoln-mks-brings-new-look-to-american-luxury/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA 2007: 2009 Lincoln MKS brings new look to American luxury</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/14/la-2007-2009-lincoln-mks-brings-new-look-to-american-luxury/">LA 2007: 2009 Lincoln MKS brings new look to American luxury</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Nov 2007 00:01:00 EST.
