<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/bbc">BBC</a> has come out in defense of <em><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/top gear">Top Gear</a></em> host <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/jeremy clarkson">Jeremy Clarkson</a> after the Reverend Graeme Anderson, vicar of <a href="http://www.stmarysradcliffe.org/">St. Mary's Church in Radcliffe-on-Trent</a>, complained that the entertainer "trivialized, belittled and cheapened" Jesus Christ. Clarkson has a long history of rousing the ire of different groups, and Anderson specifically took issue with a segment in which Clarkson took the wheel of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ktm x-bow">KTM X-Bow</a>. After hearing Clarkson's exclamations of "God almighty" and "Jesus wept," Anderson says he was both surprised and upset. The vicar has since vowed to never watch <em>Top Gear</em> again.<br />
<br />
After petitioning both Clarkson and the BBC for an apology, the network responded by saying the speech is part of everyday language, and that while its program strives to portray society as it really is, it respects the "fundamental human right to exercise freedom of thought, conscience and religion."<br />
<br />
Clarkson has remained uncharacteristically mute on the dustup.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/19/bbc-tells-complaining-vicar-jeremy-clarksons-blasphemy-is-ever/">BBC tells complaining vicar Jeremy Clarkson's blasphemy is "everyday language"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Mar 2012 08:29:00 EST. <br />
As we head towards the second half of February without having had a real winter here in the Midwest, we'll admit to being ticked off. Those Blizzaks we bought for our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ablongterm-countryman/">long-term Mini Countryman</a>? We haven't had much chance to put them to use. Nor have we had any occasion to enjoy the singular pleasure of driving a massively overpowered sports car on an icy road, enjoying <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/10/theres-only-one-thing-to-do-when-the-nurburgring-is-covered-in/">every fishtail, opposite-lock correction and powerslide</a>, all while traveling under the legal speed limit, of course.<br />
<br />
So what do we do to console ourselves? Watch videos on YouTube like this one, featuring the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/x-bow/">KTM X-Bow</a> doing a little ice racing with an accompanying motorcycle/quad tandem. We love that this X-Bow's owner is out getting down and dirty in the cold - and that he's willing to pull his buddies on a tube behind his race car.<br />
<br />

<br />
If you miss the classic wedge shape of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/stratos">Lancia Stratos</a>, there are a few things you can do about it. You could buy yourself a vintage example, which will set you back a pretty penny. Or you could have Pininfarina build you one based on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ferrari">Ferrari</a> F430, and run the risk of legal action from Maranello. Or you could buy a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/x-bow">KTM X-Bow</a> and bring it to the creative folks at Montenergy.<br />
<br />
The Italian carrozzeria has developed a body kit for the Dallara-built carbon-fiber chassis called the Stratosferica that gives it the look of the Stratos with the handling of the Austrian motorbike company's four-wheeled track monster. The conversion will set you back 12,000 euros (around $17,300 USD), but a simpler canopy addition called the Monte Carlo is also available and will take you most of the way there for less cash.<br />
<br />
An engine upgrade is also available to boost the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi">Audi</a>-sourced TFSI four from 237 horsepower up to 310, which just sweetens the deal to a downright mouthwatering degree. Check it out in our galleries, or watch the pair of rudimentary video clips <a href="/2011/08/23/ktm-x-bow-gets-a-roof-thinks-its-a-stratos-w-videos/#continued">after the jump</a>.<br />

<br />
Italian chassis manufacturer Dallara has built countless racing cars for teams in innumerable racing series, and with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ktm+x-bow">KTM X-Bow</a> on the road and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/04/report-dallara-to-build-x-bow-based-alfa-romeo-4c-gta/">Alfa Romeo 4C GTA</a> reportedly under development, Dallara has done likewise for automakers. New rumors suggest that Dallara is ready to move beyond helping other outfits develop cars, however.<br />
<br />
Word is, Dallara is planning a two-seat sports car to be sold under its own name that's built on architecture similar to what it developed for the X-Bow and Alfa 4C. With carbon-fiber construction and a low curb weight, it would be targeted at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/elise">Lotus Elise</a> but come closer in spirit to the original Lotus Seven. In other words, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/lotus">Lotus</a> had better pay attention.<br />

The departure of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/8C+Competizione">8C Competizione</a> has left rather large shoes to fill at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/alfa-romeo">Alfa Romeo</a>. And stylish ones at that. Last week, we brought you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/24/rumormill-alfa-romeo-4c-gta-concept-coming-to-geneva/">initial reports</a> that a new 4C GTA was being developed to take its place, and now a whole mess of details have emerged.<br />
<br />
With the current Alfa line-up consisting entirely of front-engined, front-drive models, the 4C is to go with a mid/rear-engined, rear-drive setup. Its basis: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ktm+x-bow">KTM X-Bow</a>. Like the Austrian track toy, the 4C is to be developed by Dallara, the race car constructor also headquartered in northern Italy. Alfa's sister brand, Abarth, has long been <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/12/report-ktm-x-bow-will-underpin-mid-engine-abarth/">rumored</a> to get an X-Bow-based roadster, but now it appears to be going to Alfa instead.<br />
<br />
In its carbon/aluminum chassis is tipped to sit a 1.8-liter, turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder engine from Alfa's existing range, giving the lightweight roadster a power-to-weight ratio expected to best the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayman">Porsche Cayman S</a>. Styling is reportedly being carried out by Alfa's own Centro Stile, and not by Pininfarina as some have reported.<br />
<br />
Production is rumored to come in around 20,000-25,000 units annually over the course of five years, with a price tag in the 40,000 euro (about $55,000) range - considerably more accessible than the 8C. Although the prototype was targeted for unveiling at the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show">Geneva Motor Show</a>, reported setbacks could force us to wait a little longer.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/23/fiats-abarth-brand-to-create-its-own-sports-car/">Reports</a> of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/abarth">Abarth</a> getting its own sports car have been surfacing pretty much since <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/fiat">Fiat</a> relaunched the brand. They seem to have intensified recently, with reports alternately suggesting that the Scorpion marque could partner with either <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/29/next-generation-lotus-elise-to-underpin-abarth-sports-car/">Lotus</a> or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/12/report-ktm-x-bow-will-underpin-mid-engine-abarth/">KTM</a> on the development of a mid-engine roadster. The latest scuttlebutt, however, indicates that Abarth could go it alone on the new model.<br />
<br />
The issue with KTM is reportedly that its carbon-fiber X-Bow, upon which the Abarth roadster could be based, is too expensive for the low price point Fiat seeks. The hesitance to work with Lotus, however, may be more personal. Lotus CEO Danny Bahar defected there from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ferrari">Ferrari</a>, and took a number of personnel from both Maranello and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/maserati">Maserati</a> with him. <br />
<br />
As a result, Abarth could build a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/elise">Lotus Elise</a> rival from the ground up, powered by the latest-generation MultiAir engine mated to the company's new dual-clutch gearbox. Such a move would, however, seem at odds with Sergio Marchionne's push to integrate products and platforms across Fiat and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/chrysler">Chrysler</a> brands. But if a mid-engine <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/dodge">Dodge</a> roadster came out of it as well, you wouldn't find us complaining.<br />

<br />
It looks like the fiends at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/abarth">Abarth</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ktm">KTM</a> are looking to shack up. <em>Road &amp; Track</em> is reporting that the two speed-bent names are joining forces for the creation of the much-rumored mid-engine two-seater from Abarth. At the heart of the program will the chassis from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/x-bow">KTM X-Bow</a>, though in place of the turbo <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/volkswagen/">Volkswagen</a> 2.0-liter, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/fiat">Fiat</a> plans to drop in its own MultiAir 1.8-liter turbo mill. That means that the whole kit and caboodle will scoot down the road with somewhere between 180 and 190 horsepower. <br />
<br />
This new rumor runs contrary to the previous murmurings that had Abarth courting <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/lotus">Lotus</a> for the use of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/elise">Elise</a> chassis. According to <em>Road &amp; Track</em>, those bones were just a little too expensive for Abarth to justify, so the factory tuners began to look elsewhere. Supposedly, we can expect the Italian machine to be a low-volume creation, with annual sales projected to hit no more than 2,000 units. Expect the price tag to land around $80,000 when it debuts in 2013. Start saving your pennies, kids.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2011 KTM X-Bow R - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ktm">KTM X-Bow</a> may not be the prettiest ride on the track, but looks don't help you win races. With 240 horsepower motivating a mere 1,742 pounds, the X-Bow has plenty of punch to dice through a track with relative ease. And if 240 ponies can help you win at the track or the next stop light, then 300 horsepower ought to be even better. We <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/02/report-ktm-planning-fresh-x-bow-variants/">caught wind of rumors</a> back in July that KTM was prepping just such a beast, with the ability to hit 60 miles per hour in a scant three seconds, and it looks like those rumors were based in fact.<br />
<br />
KTM has <a href="http://www.ktm-x-bow.com/KTM-X-BOW-MODEL-YEAR-2011.2047.0.html?news=333&amp;cHash=8873646272">officially announced</a> that the new X-Bow R is, in fact, the real deal, with a 300 horsepower version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/audi/">Audi</a> engine sourced from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/04/funny-car-commercial-of-the-day-audis-musically-gifted-s3/">S3</a>. The X-Bow R will also sit lower with a lower engine mounting to increase cornering speeds and impress your friends at the same time. The R model will reportedly come in two forms; a "Sport" variant for the street and a "Race" pack for the track. <br />
<br />
If you're already one of the 500 existing X-Bow owners, don't worry about your sudden case of horsepower envy. KTM is said to be prepared to offer many of the parts that add up to an R designation through X-Bow PowerParts, giving owners the opportunity to tune their four-wheeled motorcycle to Sport or Race specifications. Additional details and pricing information will be available after the first of the year.<br />

According to <em>Auto Express</em>, Fiat is looking to take the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive fight to the Lotus Elise with a new Abarth roadster based on - get this - the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/ktm-gt4-x-bow-revealed/">KTM X-Bow</a>. How's that for mouth watering?<br />
<br />
Supposedly the Italian's factory tuning division will snap up a slew of rolling chassis from KTM and drop in its own 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder good for around 200 horsepower. Throw in some new body work and suddenly you've got a world-class handling machine that's at least somewhat drivable when the weather turns sour.<br />
<br />
<em>AE</em> says that according to "senior sources within the company" the car could show up as soon as 2013. That's still an awfully long way off, so chances are this one has about as much of a chance of coming to fruition as a rear-wheel drive <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/acura/">Acura</a>. That's a shame, too. We'd love to play around with a low-buck mid-engine Italian.<br />

<br />
According to reports streaming out of Italy, <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/ktm">KTM</a> is set to debut new versions of its X-Bow sportscar. Good news indeed, as the last we heard the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/report-ktm-halts-production-x-bow-production/">putting the brakes on its four-wheeled endeavors</a> in the wake of losses due to the economic downturn.<br />
<br />
If you thought 0-60 in under four seconds was plenty quick... well, it is, but KTM will still be upping power from the standard car's 237 horses to something over 300 for the new R model, which should put the X-Bow into the 3.0-second-flat range. With acceleration like that, the only things likely to beat you from stoplight to stoplight are on two wheels, and then only maybe.<br />
<br />
If you don't need such mind-bending forces on your body and would rather pamper your posterior a wee bit, KTM is also said to be working on a T model. We'd guess that moniker would stand for Touring, as the machine is said to be equipped with such niceties as an actual windshield. Time for a cross-country road-trip, no?<br />

<br /> Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM had high hopes for its first foray into the world of four-wheeled motoring, but that was before the economy took a dive. Now reports suggest that the company has had to rethink how many of its X-Bow track cars it can sell, but further than that, they've had to stop production as supply outstrips demand.<br /> <br /> KTM originally figured on building 500 units of the X-Bow each year, but soon thereafter increased their targets to 1000 per year. So far the factory in Graz, Austria, has built 500. Unfortunately, only 80 of those have reportedly been sold. According to reports coming from across the Atlantic, the extra stock has forced KTM to stop production altogether while it tries to sell the units it has on hand, with production not expected to resume again until January 2010.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model">KTM X-Bow</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/020108ktm_1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917778_30a41213f7_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917853_7b36f3e0df_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917895_7253e3c230_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/x_box_scale_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20491">PistonHeads</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/report-ktm-halts-production-x-bow-production/">REPORT: KTM halts X-Bow production</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 14:31:00 EST. <br />MTM tunes all things Audi, so it didn't take long for the firm to tweak the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/KTMXBow/">KTM X-Bow</a> (with its VAG-sourced inline-four) and the all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AudiTTS/">Audi TTS</a>. Of the two, the X-Bow gets the milder tuning (if that's possible), with the 2.0-liter TFSI four-pot getting a boost in output from 240 to 318 horsepower. Torque rises accordingly, with 310 lb-ft on tap, sent through a modified six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. Four-piston Brembos with 305 mm discs are nestled within 18-inch wheels coated in Nokain Hakkapeliita-4 rubber sized 245/40. Although MTM doesn't cite a revised 0-60 mph time, it claims a top speed of 156 mph (one mph more than stock).<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/1470353/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/02-mtm-audi-tt-s_250op.jpg" alt="" /></a>For those who are looking for a more friendly daily driver but aren't willing to wait around for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TTRS/">TTRS</a>, the MTM-tuned TTS boasts 380 hp and 364 lb-ft of torque from an upgraded turbocharger that huffs 22.5 psi of boost into the 2.0-liter's four cylinders. A new intake and exhaust manifold is fitted, along with eight-piston Brembos clamping onto 380mm discs, with 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (245/30) tires. A 330 hp version is also available, starting at &euro;63,103 ($85k USD), while the full-bore 380 hp package will set you back &euro;73,715 (a cool $99k USD).<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-xbow-by-mtm">KTM XBow by MTM</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-xbow-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/05-mtm-ktm-xbow_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-xbow-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/06-mtm-ktm-xbow_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-xbow-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/07-mtm-ktm-xbow_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-xbow-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/08-mtm-ktm-xbow_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm">Audi TT-S by MTM</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/01-mtm-audi-tt-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/02-mtm-audi-tt-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/03-mtm-audi-tt-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/04-mtm-audi-tt-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-tt-s-by-mtm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/05-mtm-audi-tt-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/03/mtm-tunes-up-the-ktm-x-bow-and-audi-tts/">MTM tunes up the KTM X-Bow and Audi TTS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Apr 2009 19:56:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em><small>Click above for high-res gallery of the KTM X-Bow ROC</small></em></strong><br /></div>
<br />Late last month we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/20/ktm-bringing-two-world-premiers-to-geneva/">learned</a> that KTM was planning to bring two new versions of its X-Bow roadster to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>. One of those machines is the new X-Bow ROC edition, and our men on the scene managed to assemble a gallery of live shots of the new model that you can view in the gallery below. This new ROC edition was built to commemorate the Austrian firm's inclusion in last year's 2008 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/spoiler-roc-crowns-new-champion-among-motorsports-best/">Race of Champions</a>, so it fittingly features a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque shell and adds a sports exhaust to Audi's 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder mill that's shared with other models in the range. Unique paint and badges also help set it apart from lesser X-Bows.<br /><br />Despite the fact this new model shares plenty of special bits with the top-level Superlight X-Bow, KTM was able to price the limited edition ROC model rather aggressively with a base MSRP of 69,980 euros - a full 10,000 less than its pricier sibling. Also new is the X-Bow Street, which retails for an even more wallet-friendly 49,980 euros. Unfortunately, the motorcycle-manufacturer-turned-track-toy-purveyor hasn't released any details about what's on the way, but a quick look into the Autoblog archives gives us a glimpse of what to expect.<br /><br />Back in July, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/ktm-bringing-faster-harder-x-bow-to-geneva-in-2009/">reports surfaced</a> that KTM was working on a harder, faster X-Bow that will use the Audi S3's 261-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter, and will be offered in both <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/25/ktm-planning-closed-coupe-and-off-road-versions-of-x-bow/">open-top and fixed-roof variants</a>. KTM is also <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/09/ktm-preparing-low-cost-clean-city-cars-and-suv/">rumored to be hooking up with Baja Auto</a>, India's third-largest automaker, on a eco-friendly runabout that sports seating for four in a package that's about the size of a Tuk-Tuk. We'll go out on a limb and say that KTM will unveil an off-road version of the X-Bow that's ready to tackled Dakar, but we'll know for sure the first week of March.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts">FH JOANNEUM KTM concepts</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/ktm_ax_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/ktm_ax_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/ktm_ax_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sr85deuce_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fh-joanneum-ktm-concepts/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sr85deuce_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/20/ktm-bringing-two-world-premiers-to-geneva/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>KTM bringing two world premieres to Geneva</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/20/ktm-bringing-two-world-premiers-to-geneva/">KTM bringing two world premieres to Geneva</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 20 Feb 2009 19:32:00 EST. <br />Motoren Technik Mayer (MTM) has tuned almost every product in the Volkswagen/Audi stable, so it makes sense that they'd work their magic on the turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI found in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/KTMXBow/">KTM X-Bow</a>.<br /><br />The boosted four has proven to be just as tweakable as the venerable 1.8T it replaced, and MTM is has announced plans to raise output of the X-Bow from 237 to 380 hp. Torque figures should rise accordingly (we're guessing something in the neighborhood of 350 lb-ft) and the 0-60 times will surely drop from the factory-stated 3.9-seconds -- assuming MTM can get the additional ponies to the ground in a civilized fashion.<br /><br />Expect a range of brake, wheel and suspension upgrades to be included, and hope that MTM offers its wares in the States if the KTM makes good on its promise to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/25/coming-to-america-street-legal-ktm-x-bow/">bring the X-Bow to the U.S.</a><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model">KTM X-Bow</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/020108ktm_1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917778_30a41213f7_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917853_7b36f3e0df_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/medium_396917895_7253e3c230_o_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-scale-model/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/x_box_scale_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.mtm-online.de/en/">MTM</a> via <a href="http://www.zercustoms.com/news/MTM-KTM-X-Bow.html">Zercustoms</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/mtm-creating-380-hp-ktm-x-bow/">MTM creating 380-hp KTM X-Bow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 19:19:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the KTM X-Bow playing in the snow</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Given the chance to take the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/KTMXBow/">KTM X-Bow</a> into any environment, a wintery wonderland wouldn't be one of them. But KTM wants to allow its mid-engine track tool to weather all the seasons - and peddle a few more of its PowerParts and PowerWear accessories to its drivers. X-Bow owners can choose from either central-locking or five-bolt wheels wrapped in Pirelli Sottozero snow tires, along with an optional set of chains. And even though <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/25/ktm-planning-closed-coupe-and-off-road-versions-of-x-bow/">a fixed roof is planned for future models</a>, the current generation X-Bow's occupants will have to deal with the climes clothed in Sch&ouml;ffel jacket and pants, and matching Schuberth helmet. The full line of winter wear will set you back 950 euros, and when you arrive at your chilly destination, you can wrap the X-Bow in either an indoor cover (380 euro) or an outdoor cloak for 325 euro. We think we'll pass and wait for spring.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear">KTM X-Bow Winter Wear</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/01_xbow_winter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/02_xbow_winter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/03_xbow_winter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/04_xbow_winter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ktm-x-bow-winter-wear/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/05_xbow_winter_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/12/for-why-ktm-offers-winter-wear-for-your-x-bow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>For Why? The Formula RZ takes a different tack, combing the attributes of the pioneering <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ArielAtom/">Ariel Atom</a> and the aforementioned X-Bow and K07 with a customizable body - complete with removable nose cone and wing -- aimed at delivering a pure driving experience for a party of two.<br /><br />The Formula RZ is simply a design study at the moment, so there's no mention of powerplants, gearboxes or curb weights, but that doesn't stop us from fantasizing about how the RZ would attack the track, and it shouldn't stop you from checking the renderings in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz">Racer X Design Formula RZ</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/01_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/02_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/03_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/04_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/05_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://74.125.93.104/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=fr&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.reubenzammit.com/rz_formula.html&amp;usg=ALkJrhi04CU2TwIMQ7wJ50sHRZxW-aD0ng">Racer X Design</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/10/rendered-speculation-racer-x-design-rz-formula/">Rendered Speculation: Racer X Design RZ Formula </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 17:29:00 EST. <p>One look at the KTM X-Bow should tell you it's about as close to a race car for the road as you're ever likely to see. Add to that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/ktm-x-bow-captures-gt4-sports-light-championship/">European GT4 Sports Light championship</a> and it pretty much seals the deal. But if that still isn't enough, here comes the news that the 2008 Race of Champions has chosen the super-light Austrian track car to compete in this year's event.</p>
<p>For the uninitiated, the Race of Champions takes place every year, fielding a roster including some of the best racers from various motor sport disciplines on two wheels and four against each other on identical machinery. Each year the list of vehicles is changed, and has in the past included Ferrari, Aston Martins, Porsches, Renaults, Abarths, various rally cars and a specially-made sprint car. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/ktm-x-bow-suzuki-hayabusa-engined-car-tested-for-race-of-champi/">Last month,</a> RoC officials took a look at the X-Bow, alongside a 4WD racer powered by a pair of Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle engines, but the final decision just came down. You'll be able to watch the X-Bow, along with the rest of the motor-pool, being man-handled by some of the world's greatest, including F1's Sebastian Vettel, WRC's Sebastien Loeb, DTM's Mattias Ekstrom and WTCC's Andy Priaulx along with recently retired legends Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard at Wembley in London on December 14. <em>More info in the press release after the jump, and images in the gallery below.</em></p>

<br />KTM has performed well during the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/13/ktm-confirms-participation-in-gt4-with-x-bow/">X-Bow's campaign in the European GT4 Sports Light series</a>, winning the championship in its inaugural season. In fact, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/ktm-gt4-x-bow-revealed/">the KTM X-Bow</a> claimed the top three spots at the end of the 18-round series, and in the process, KTM's first four-wheeled street racer managed to beat out a slew of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/23/donkervoort-d8-gt-in-production-sales-begin-in-june/">Donkervoorts</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=lotus+exige&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">Lotuses</a>. German X-Bow driver Christopher Haase piloted the KaTooM to a number of victories and won the driver's championship in the process. Somewhat amazingly, the angular little orange and black roadster was even able to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/22/ktm-x-bow-takes-class-win-in-gt4-annoys-astons-and-vettes/">pick on</a> much larger and more powerful competition, like Aston Martins, Ford Mustangs and Corvettes. <br /><br />We think it's fair to call the X-Bow a success for KTM, which now looks forward to bigger and better things. Up next is an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/ktm-bringing-faster-harder-x-bow-to-geneva-in-2009/">even faster version</a> of its racer as well as a range of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/09/ktm-preparing-low-cost-clean-city-cars-and-suv/">city cars and off-roaders</a>. Lest we should forget where the company's roots are, there are plenty of new sporting two-wheelers in the pipeline as well.<br /><br />[Source: KTM]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/ktm-x-bow-captures-gt4-sports-light-championship/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>KTM X-Bow captures GT4 Sports Light championship</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/ktm-x-bow-captures-gt4-sports-light-championship/">KTM X-Bow captures GT4 Sports Light championship</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 18:28:00 EST. <br />Americans may be more familiar with the International Race of Champions, IROC for short, due to that race's popularity in the '80s and '90s and for the Chevy Camaros and Dodge Daytonas affixed with the badge. In the rest of the world, though, the more popular series is called the <a href="http://www.raceofchampions.com/">Race of Champions</a>, but the idea is the same. Take top drivers from various racing leagues and pit them in similar cars against each other on a number of different race tracks. This year, the ROC's organizers are testing a bunch of cars to be used for the next event, including the track-ready KTM X-Bow and a wild-sounding contraption that uses twin Suzuki Hayabusa engines driving all four wheels. The actual race will take place in London at Wembley Stadium on December 14 and will feature Tom Kristensen (Team Scandinavia), <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/02/schumacher-confirmed-to-return-for-2008-race-of-champions/">Michael Schumacher</a> (Team Germany), S&eacute;bastien Loeb (Team France), Andy Priaulx (Team Autosport Great Britain), Troy Bayliss (Team Australia), Mattias Ekstr&ouml;m (Team Scandinavia), Jenson Button (Team Autosport Great Britain), Mark Webber (Team Australia) and Sebastian Vettel (Team Germany).<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing">Race of Champions 2008 testing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/roc_large_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/roc_large_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/roc_large_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/roc_large_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/race-of-champions-2008-testing/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/roc_large_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Race of Champions]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/ktm-x-bow-suzuki-hayabusa-engined-car-tested-for-race-of-champi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>KTM X-Bow, Suzuki Hayabusa-engined car tested for Race of Champions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/ktm-x-bow-suzuki-hayabusa-engined-car-tested-for-race-of-champi/">KTM X-Bow, Suzuki Hayabusa-engined car tested for Race of Champions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 17:26:00 EST.
