<br />
We're pretty excited about the new Gran Turismo 5 video game for the PlayStation 3 and PSP, and the sneak peeks we've seen so far have been astonishingly good. We know GT5 will have some sweet <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/13/report-gran-turismo-5-to-get-weather-changes-night-racing-an/">damage rendering</a> capabilities, night racing and weather changes. Plus, we know the graphics are <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/02/video-gt5-trailer-released-gran-turismo-for-psp-coming-this-oc/">damned impressive</a>. But clearly there's more on the table.<br />
<br />
GT5 will be all well and good, but what we're about to show you is about as eye-popping as anything you're going to see. After the jump is a video rendering of the rare and alluring Koenigsegg CCX done by a company called Proper Graphics. It is not, as originally thought, a teaser from GT5. <br />
<br />
The clip is only 1:47 long, the engine doesn't start and the tires don't even budge. It's just a series of hovering camera shots of the CCX on a beautiful cobblestone road, and the detail is just shy of breathtaking. The sheetmetal, carbon fiber and interior appointments are about as detailed as anything we've ever seen, and we're hoping that we can expect a taste of this sort of thing in future GT installments. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/19/video-gran-turismo-5-shows-off-rendering-power-on-koenigsegg-cc/">Hit the jump</a> to see it for yourself.<br />

<br />With much of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/koenigsegg/">recent news regarding Koenigsegg</a> being about their acquisition of Saab, you might have forgotten that the Swedish auto manufacturer builds supercars. Well, probably not, but it was refreshing to see Koenigsegg throw a changeup and release details of their latest special edition model, the Trevita. <br /><br />Based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/02/koenigsegg-drops-a-duo-ccgt-and-1018-hp-biofuel-ccxr/">CCXR</a> model, the limited-edition supercar appears to have a simple silver paint job from a distance, but a closer look reveals a bare carbon fiber body coated with a unique diamond finish put directly into the weave using a process specially developed by Koenigsegg. According to the company, use of the "Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave" (catchy, eh?) means that "When sunlight hits the car, it sparkles like millions of silvery white diamonds infused inside the visible carbon fiber weave bodywork."<br /><br />Along with diamond weave finish, the Trevita, which evidently means "three whites" in Swedish, features a double carbon wing, paddle shifters, an upgraded exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes, an infotainment system, and more. There's no word on pricing, but just three will be produced and we're guessing that they will demand a hefty premium over the "standard" CCXR. <br /><br />No official word yet on whether the Trevita will roll out at next week's Frankfurt show, but we'll have our SLRs at the ready just in case. For now, though, you'll have to content yourself with the high-res gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/">Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ccxrtrevita_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ccxrtrevita_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ccxrtrevita_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ccxrtrevita_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-ccxr-trevita/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/ccxrtrevita_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Koenigsegg via <a href="http://www.gtspirit.com/2009/09/10/koenigsegg-trevita/">GTSpirit.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/11/limited-edition-ccxr-trevita-to-shine-like-a-diamond-well-mill/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Limited-edition CCXR Trevita to shine like a diamond. <br />Although the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/16/officially-official-koenigsegg-reaches-agreement-to-buy-saab/">deal to purchase Saab</a> between Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg and General Motors has not yet been completely finalized, that hasn't stopped us from openly pining for a production version of Saab's gorgeous <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/02/28/video-and-live-shots-saab-aero-x-concept/">Aero X concept car of 2006</a>. And now that we have pictures of the showstopper adjacent to one of Mr. Christian von Koenigsegg's own gorgeous creatures, well... it may just be enough to keep us awake at night. We're not sure where these two-door millionaire's coupes got together for this photoshoot, but judging from the snow on the ground, we wouldn't rule out the motherland. <br /><br />While it's way too early to tell if Saab's new ownership situation will help get the automaker out of the woods it has seemingly been lost in for years, we can't help but at least get a little excited when seeing these two together. Check them out in the high-res gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigegg-meet-saab-saab-meet-koenigsegg/low/">Koenigegg, Meet Saab. <br />According to a report by CarsUK.net, Koenigsegg will be limiting the already limited production versions of the CCXR and CCX Edition models due to the floundering economy. Although the report doesn't explicitly say that demand has plummeted, we can only imagine that the even wealthiest one-percenters are rethinking their high-dollar expenditures. The CCXR Edition will be limited to only four examples, while a scant two CCX Editions will be produced. While it might be the economy, with the unveiling of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Quant/">Quant</a> at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, Christian Von Koenigsegg might be looking to shift the automaker's efforts towards their next model before the CCXs begin growing long in the tooth.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/">Koenigsegg Edition CCXR</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ccxr-special-ed_dh_02b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ccxr-special-ed_dh_05b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ccxr-special-ed_dh_07a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ccxr-special-ed_dh_rear-view-01a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/koenigsegg-edition-ccx-and-ccxr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/ccxr_interior_special-ed_dh_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carsuk.net/exclusive-koenigsegg-cuts-production-numbers-on-the-ccx-ccxr-edition/">CarsUK.net</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/20/more-limited-editions-koenigsegg-reportedly-cutting-productio/">(More) Limited Editions: Koenigsegg reportedly cutting production of CCX, CCXR models </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 20 Mar 2009 08:58:00 EST. <br />As we told you a couple of weeks ago, there's one incredibly lucky dude in Europe who happens to own at least a handful of the greatest supercars of the modern era. He also happens to house them near the N&uuml;rburgring. It was only a matter of time before <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/10/more-ring-running-maserati-mc12-beats-worlds-best-in-super-co/">all five of the cars were brought to the 'Ring</a> to have them 'rung out. Fortunately for us that blessed event recently took place, and more importantly, it was captured on film. Even better, the lads over at <a href="http://www.supercarmovies.com/html/interface.html">Supercarmovies</a> were the ones who filmed it.<br /><br />After sharing their lush, kinetic films of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/30/car-porn-supercarmovies-com-films-the-lamborghini-lp640/">Lamborghini LP640</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/28/car-porn-supercarmoviescom-tackles-the-wiesmann-gt/">Weismann GT</a>, and most recently the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/29/car-porn-supercarmovies-com-honors-the-corvette-z06/">Chevy Corvette Z06</a>, they have just posted videos of the five supercars getting down to business. Follow the jump to watch the trailer for this blessed vid, and click the <a href="http://www.supercarmovies.com/html/interface.html">source link</a> below to see the Maserati MC12, Ferrari Enzo, Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and Porsche Carrera GT as they make their way to the track. After that, you get to see the first contender, the Ferrari Enzo, do its thing. Videos of the remaining individual contenders will follow shortly. Same day, same driver, same conditions, no excuses.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.supercarmovies.com/html/interface.html">Supercarmovies</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/car-porn-supercarmovies-releases-nurburgring-supertest-vids/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Car Porn: Supercarmovies releases Nurburgring SUPERTEST vids</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/car-porn-supercarmovies-releases-nurburgring-supertest-vids/">Car Porn: Supercarmovies releases Nurburgring SUPERTEST vids</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 27 Oct 2008 13:28:00 EST. Carbon-fiber saloons from the Swedish automaker have been undergoing testing for the past two years, with the new model set to be debut in concept form at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in 2010. Sales of the car are planned for 2011 with a sizable allocation destined for the U.S. The other big market for the brand is the Middle East, where much of the development money is said to have been sourced. Powered by a 700-horsepower V8 not shared with Koenigsegg's other exotics, the new super saloon is expected to surpass 200 miles per hour. Pricing would almost surely be higher than its closest rivals, the upcoming Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide, but lower than the marque's other carbon creations.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/">Autoblog Drives the Koenigsegg CCX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/ccxfirstdrive1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/ccxfirstdrive10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/ccxfirstdrive11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/ccxfirstdrive12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-drives-the-koenigsegg-ccx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/ccxfirstdrive13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carmiddleeast.com/index.php/main/getDetails/1/104/">CAR Middle East</a> via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5039875/koenigsegg-to-build-700-hp-four-door-prototype-to-debut-at-geneva">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/21/koenigsegg-developing-700bhp-four-door/">Koenigsegg developing 700bhp four-door</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 21 Aug 2008 12:57:00 EST. <p>We got our first (and only) taste of the U.S.-spec Koenigsegg CCX more than a year ago when we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/30/first-drive-in-koenigsegg-ccx/">piloted it on a road course outside Las Vegas Speedway</a> with sportscar racer Justin Bell giving us driving tips from the passenger seat. We had mixed emotions about the super-fast Swede -- it was immensely powerful, but its ease of use and drivebility made it underwhelming at the same time. The day before we got behind the wheel, Koenigsegg had treated several prospective clients to stints around the track as well, and apparently there were at least a few who were impressed enough to plunk down the cash to buy one. It's taken a while, but <a href="http://www.ecacp.com/">Exotic Cars at Caesars Palace</a>, Koenigsegg's sole authorized distributor in the United States, announced yesterday the delivery of the very first CCX to an Arizona customer. They expect to now delivery a new 'segg about every five weeks, meaning a little less than a dozen will be in the country at this time next year. Exclusiveness has a price, though: new customers have to deal with a one year waiting list and a $930,000 price tag. </p>

Just weeks after <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/23/richard-hammond-released-from-hospital-describes-crash-and-rec/">Richard Hammond was released</a> from the hospital following his rocket car crash, it is being reported that The Stig lost control of a new Lamborghini and aquaplaned off track and into the grass. Not the first time The Stig has spun out, but after Hamster's nearly disastrous ride, this is another unwanted scare. The Stig has notably spun the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/30/first-drive-in-koenigsegg-ccx/">Koenigsegg CCX we drove in Vegas</a>, as well as the Porsche Carrera GT, so the Murci is in good company.<br /><br />While not explicitly naming the Top Gear program or The Stig himself, the BBC did have a few things to say about the incident. The gold Lamborghini Murcielago was being driven by "a professional," who escaped unharmed. The BBC also confirmed that the accident occurred during "a test run on a rain-soaked runway in Dunsfold Park, Surrey." <br /><br />That location happens to be where Top Gear does most of its testing. A witness related that it appeared as though the driver just lost control in the bad weather, and that the Lambo was "spinning rapidly before skidding off the track and coming to a halt in a field. It looked pretty bashed up."<br /><br />[Source: The Daily Mirror]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/18/the-stig-goes-farming-with-a-lamborghini/">The Stig goes farming with a Lamborghini</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 18 Nov 2006 13:16:00 EST. Without resorting to the cheap, albeit highly effective and entertaining, trick of hiring booth babes to draw attention to themselves, this French tiremaker still had one of the largest crowds of any vendor at the show. Accomplished with an elegant simplicity that had us drooling from the moment we saw the space. The plan was so breathtakingly simple that we hope others will follow their lead in the future. OK, we wouldn't complain too much if there were still some lovely ladies around as well, but this being an automotive show, putting cars above all else seems to be a pretty good idea.<br /><br />What they pulled off went a little beyond the ordinary and deserves some kind of award. After working your way past dozens of individual wheel and tire booths with everything from clear rims to those 34-inch monster truck-worthy numbers, you round a corner in the tires and wheels hall and see one of the cleanest, most spectacular sights. Especially if you are a fan of exotics and supercars, but even if you're not, it's quite striking. I don't know, you'll have to ask Autoblogger Frank Filipponio who did just that at the official U.S. unveiling of the Koenigsegg CCX. Only one car was on hand to attack the track with and it was the exact same CCX that the Stig flogged on Top Gear to a record lap time, complete with the rear wing that was added for extra stability by Koenigsegg. Special thanks goes out to Drew Phillips from <a href="http://www.fast-autos.net">Fast-Autos.net</a> who served as our impromptu driver for the video shoot and our brethren over at <a href="http://www.netscape.com">Netscape</a> for producing the video.<br /><br /><strong>Related posts:</strong><br />
