According to <em>The Detroit Free Press</em>, the now famous Made In Detroit apparel may come from as far away as the Dominican Republic. While Bobby Moscow, LLC, the company behind the official Made In Detroit shirts, designs and screen prints the Ts and other garb in Detroit proper, the raw materials are sourced from elsewhere. The company uses between eight and 10 different suppliers, and they may provide shirts from all over the globe. While some of the Ts come from a small company in Ohio, Buddy Moscow says it is currently working to ensure more of its products are made here in the States.<br />
<br />
The original Made In Detroit shirts inspired by the 2011 Super Bowl <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chrysler">Chrysler</a> commercial featuring <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/eminem">Eminem</a> were, in fact, made right here in the land of the free. Chrysler said the company felt it was important for the products to be made here given the slogan. The automaker isn't affiliated with the new line of Kid Rock-approved Bobby Moscow apparel.<br />
<br />
Some fans of the Buddy Moscow pieces have noticed the shirts come without any tags at all, leading to questions about whether or not the Ts were actually made in China. As it turns out, the tags were simply removed to facilitate screen printing in-collar labels.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/07/made-in-detroit-merch-is-anything-but/">'Made In Detroit' merch is anything but</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Feb 2012 17:28:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/detroit-auto-show/">Detroit</a> could be considered the embodiment of the American blue-collar spirit. From the glory days of the mid-20th century when the city seemed poised to become a longstanding American industrial power, to the doldrums of the last 30 years, the city has seen the gates of hell.<br />
<br />
Slowly, though, Detroit is holding its ground. Like the workers who made their home in the Motor City churning out the iron that gave this country its maniacal love of the car, Detroit is resilient and determined. <em>Detroit in Overdrive</em> is an upcoming three-part documentary that aims to show the world Detroit is coming back.<br />
<br />
From a brewery owned by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/20/video-chevrolet-gives-kid-rock-custom-camaro-for-his-40th-birth/">Kid Rock</a>, one of the city's favorite sons, to community gardens to green business, Detroit looks poised to begin its long-overdue resurgence. <a href="/2011/08/01/planet-green-teases-detroit-in-overdrive-documentary/#continued">Hop the jump</a> to check out two trailers and a press release. The show premiers August 4 on Planet Green.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/01/planet-green-teases-detroit-in-overdrive-documentary/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Planet Green teases <i>Detroit In Overdrive</i> documentary</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/01/planet-green-teases-detroit-in-overdrive-documentary/">Planet Green teases <i>Detroit In Overdrive</i> documentary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 16:55:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/chevrolet">Chevrolet</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/nascar">NASCAR</a> racer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/jimmie johnson">Jimmie Johnson</a> teamed up to make Kid Rock's recent birthday party one the Detroit city rocker will likely never forget. During the singer's 40th birthday celebration concert, Johnson presented Rock a brand-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro">Chevrolet Camaro</a> on behalf of the Bow Tie brand. You know, because if there's anyone who can't afford to buy his own car, it's Kid Rock. Sarcasm aside, Rock seemed genuinely surprised and grateful for the gift, even going so far as to ask if he was being punked.<br />
<br />
No, sir. That's the rest of us.<br />
<br />
Ironically, the birthday celebration concert that Kid threw himself was being held at Ford Field. The one-off Camaro also came with special graphics slathered over the hood, doors and back glass, as well as a personalized "BADASS" license plate. We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried. You can <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/20/video-chevrolet-gives-kid-rock-custom-camaro-for-his-40th-birth/#continued">hit the jump</a> to see a video of the gift-giving for yourself.<br />

The cancellation of GM Style is part of the General's goal to free up $15 billion in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/15/gm-to-cut-20-in-overall-white-collar-costs-cut-truck-productio/">cuts and asset sales</a> by 2009. Considering the automaker pays B- and C-list celebrities and sports figures to attend, there's some money on the table here. The event has actually been a big hit the past two years with attendees like Kid Rock and Jay-Z, Carmen Electra, Jeff Gordon and the some well known fashion designers from around the world. GM also used the bright lights and catwalk to show the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-at-the-gm-style-event/">Camaro Convertible Concept</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/18/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008-music-fashion-and-cars/">Corvette ZR1</a> for the first time.<br /><br />The death of GM Style comes right after the automaker decided to <a href="http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/news/agency/e3ie2e24571645310cbe5c1ac18cbb3da47">pull its advertising</a> at the Emmy Awards and next year's Academy Awards broadcast. GM has been the largest advertiser of the Academy Awards over the past 10 years, with $97.1 million spent on the awards show since 1998. GM will still advertise at the Golden Globes, Grammys, and Country Music Awards in 2009.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008">Detroit 2008: GM Style 2008</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-108_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-36_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-gm-style-2008/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/gm-style-2008-119_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event">Detroit Auto Show: Cars and Stars - GM Style Event</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9418_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9410_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9409_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9408_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-auto-show-cars-and-stars-gm-style-event/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/img_9407_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080819/BIZ/808190338/1148/AUTO01">Detroit News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/gm-style-event-nixed-from-2009-naias-activities/">GM Style Event nixed from 2009 NAIAS activities</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 15:58:00 EST. Kid Rock was singing about the Motor City while Jeff Gordon drove in the ZR-1 on stage. The General threw in some scantily clad women and flashing lights for good measure, and the crowd of 1,500 was on its feet. We were there too, with camera rolling. Hit the jump to view the ZR1's grand entrance.
