Chrysler has just released its first Dodge Dart commercial that will debut during the Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday night.

The commercial kicks off the Dart's "New Rules" ad campaign and features the Jay-Z and Kanye West single "No Church in the Wild" as its soundtrack. This 90-second commercial titled "How To Change Cars Forever" is a rapid-fire ambush of information outlining what it takes to make a car. Auto insiders and enthusiasts will enjoy all of the steps taken to create any car and the general public will appreciate the humor sprinkled throughout the commercial, including a cameo by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. We appreciate that Chrysler appears to be the only auto manufacturer willing to tackle long-form ads as of late (see also: Super Bowl).

"Adding a dose of fun, creative license and Dodge brand humor, (the commercial) captures the meticulous process of starting with a simple idea and developing it into a revolutionary new car," says Olivier Francois, head of marketing for Chrysler Group LLC.

The full Dart ad campaign kicks off in September, though teasers like this should be making their way into media outlets between now and then. The 2013 Dodge Dart is beginning to roll into dealerships right now.

Regardless of how you (or we) feel about Kanye West's music, factual errors are factual errors. And that's exactly why we're posting this music video of Kanye's new single, "Mercy."

Or is that, "Murci?" As in, Murciélago?

Kanye apparently thinks so, as the lyrics specifically say "Murci-lago" a couple of times throughout the song. But look closely: That black Lamborghini featured in the back of the video? It's a Gallardo. The smaller headlamp clusters are a dead giveaway.

Sorry, Phillips de Pury & Company, but you guys evidently had no business auctioning this car at a sale of contemporary art. Because no matter what the dynamic rap duo of Kanye West and Jay-Z did to it, this 2004 Maybach 57 is, first and foremost, a used car. Clearly the art community has voted with its wallets - and decided that the vehicle's value is about what you could make if you parted it out. Frankly, that's sad.

For those that don't remember, the Maybach was heavily modified for use in the music video for the song "Otis," the Grammy Award-winning hit from Kanye's 2011 album Watch The Throne. Despite its overt ugliness, the car certainly has provenance. (Did we mention that the song won a Grammy?) We only hope that whomever ponied up the paltry sum of $60,000 for the "Otis" Maybach is either a real music fan or someone who goes on to resell it at Barrett-Jackson or another car auction where they know how to move the celebrity metal.

Kanye and Jay-Z set up on a Maybach

If you've got money and taste, you might choose a new Bentley or Rolls-Royce. But if you've only got the former, you might be more inclined to go with a Maybach. In fact, as often as Phantoms show up in hip-hop videos, we're pretty sure the only people buying Maybachs are Daimler executives and rap stars.

Case in point, the latest music video from Jay-Z and Kanye West. With plenty of Benjamins between them to burn, the hip-hop mega stars take a new Maybach limousine and shred it up all Mad Max style in the video for "Otis," the single off their latest collaboration Watch the Throne. Kanye West Mercedes-McLaren SLR Stirling Moss

While we didn't exactly expect rapper Kanye West to show up to an AIDS charity gala in Cannes, France in something modest like an A-Class, we admit we didn't see a Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Stirling Moss coming. After all, while we're all for driving the limited-edition Mac over all of creation if you're of the means to own one, but somehow, showing up to a charity event in a million-dollar bit of rolling exhibitionism seems a wee bit cheesy. Especially when it's probably someone else's car.
