<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/15/spectacular-meteor-strike-captured-in-russian-dash-cam-footage/">streaking meteor event in Siberia</a> last week has led Jon Stewart to spare a few minutes on <em>The Daily Show</em> to examine footage of the explosion 20 miles high and said to be equal to 300 kilotons of TNT.<br />
<br />
But his real interest is asking why so many Russians were able to get the footage in the first place, i.e., why are there so many dashcams? Coincidentally, <em>Wired</em> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/19/why-do-russian-drivers-have-so-many-dash-cams/">asked the same question</a> just a few days ago. Using plenty of examples to illustrate his point - akin to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/31/moscow-plane-crash-captured-by-cars-dashcam/">this</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/25/watch-lightning-strike-a-hapless-toyota-landcruiser/">this</a>, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/24/ford-focus-hits-downed-trolley-wire-spectacular-accident-ensues/">this</a>, that we have become oh so used to - Stewart surmises that Russian roads are "A live-action <em>Grand Theft Auto</em>" and that "Russians in their daily lives see so much amazing [expletive] that they have become unfazeable."<br />
<br />
You can watch his amusing take on our comrades across the Pacific in the video <a href="/2013/02/24/jon-stewart-investigates-the-russian-dashcam-phenomenon/#continued">below</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/24/jon-stewart-investigates-the-russian-dashcam-phenomenon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Jon Stewart investigates the Russian dashcam phenomenon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/24/jon-stewart-investigates-the-russian-dashcam-phenomenon/">Jon Stewart investigates the Russian dashcam phenomenon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 24 Feb 2013 12:01:00 EST. This might surprise some of you (and shock us), but here's his reasons why:<br />
<ol>
    <li>If the total price tag of C4C is $4 to $5 billion dollars, big deal - we spent more than that on Corn Flakes in Iraq.</li>
    <li>General Motors and Chrysler are already welfare queens, at least C4C lets them move some metal.</li>
    <li>C4C gives Ford, which Cramer calls "the most important auto company with the best lineup of fuel-efficient cars" a chance to stop burning cash, offer refinancing and perhaps equity offers (i.e. offer some common stock).</li>
    <li>The environment will be cleaner - "We are doing something good against global warming." </li>
</ol>
Cramer does go on to say that certain parts of C4C smacks of The New Deal, but Clunkers' (relatively) small price tag is a cheap way to clean up the environment, fight unemployment and move inventory. Says Jim, "[i]t worked for the Chinese with their vouchers to spend, it's working here. What's the issue? Come on Senate, go make it bigger!" <br /> <br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/08/03/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-dont-hit-the-brakes-on-cash-for-clun/">Blogging Stocks</a> | Image: Rusty Jarrett/Getty]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/04/jim-cramer-throws-his-mad-money-behind-cash-for-clunkers/">Jim Cramer throws his Mad Money behind Cash for Clunkers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 15:30:00 EST.
