1Glickenhaus says SCG 003 will be 'road-to-race and race-to-road'

James Glickenhaus' upcoming SCG 003 is, if the billionaire's previous cars are any indication, going to be a seriously cool vehicle. But according to Glickenhaus, it's coolest feature will be its versatility. And no, we're not talking about its use as a child hauler or tow vehicle.

7Glickenhaus's SCG 003 to pack twin-turbo Honda V6?

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has made (or commissioned) two vehicles to date – the P4/5 and the P4/5 Competizione – and is now hard at work on its third. The first was based on the Ferrari Enzo and the second on a Ferrari F430, but the third is being developed independently from the ground up. The question, then, is what engine will it use?

4Glickenhaus reveals carbon chassis for SGC 003

Aside from being a Hollywood director and investment banker, James Glickenhaus has one of the most awesome car collections around, full of classic Ferrari racers. But that wasn't enough for him, so he started commissioning his own: the Enzo-based Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and the 430-based P4/5 Competizione. But basing his supercars on existing ones has evidently proven tiresome for the venerable collector, so now he's building his own.

56How not to unload the 1 of 1 Ferrari P4/5 Competizione from a trailer

Believe it or not, unloading a car from a transport vehicle is a delicate science. It's alarmingly easy to damage a car in the tight, elevated confines of a dedicated car hauler, but as these gentlemen at the Monterey car week found out, even getting a car off a flatbed comes with its own unique set of challenges.

19Watch James Glickenhaus pace LeMons race in his Ferrari P4/5

One of the truly great things about a LeMons race is that the event is a celebration of all cars. We appreciate the fact that Lamborghini and Ferrari models get all sorts of fanfare throughout the year, but where else will you see a lowly Ford Fairmont cheered around a road track? Nowhere else, we tell you. The races are also an excuse for the lowliest of hardware to rub shoulders with high end metal. Take a recent event at Monticello Motor Club, for example. 9Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.

19Bloomberg takes a ride with James Glickenhaus in the P4/5

9Glickenhaus considering LMP1 for P4/5 Competizione

According to new reports, James Glickenhaus has more big plans for his P4/5 Competizione, eying an entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 with an LMP contender. That year there will be a slate of new regulations that refocus cars around around the amount of energy they use per lap (instead of displacement and air restrictions) and that open up the possibilities for design and privateer competitors.
