Back in August, Gasrec and Iveco announced that they would be testing street cleaning trucks running on biomethane. Of course, it's kinda tough to use a truck on a fuel that's not available, so Gasrec, the company that's pioneering the fuel, has partnered up with Veolia Environmental Services to get the gas it needs for its liquid methane and has created a refueling point for the Iveco truck. The methane gas is coming from both landfills and through controlled digestion of waste food products. T

CNG buses are a common sight in many European cities. Iveco has announced that they have already sold 3,900 units of its Irisbus CNG powertrains. The latest important buyers have been the cities of Madrid (which recently bought 60 units, for a total of 350), Seville (30 units, for a total of 80) and Burgos (2 to reach 12 units) in Spain.

Although Iveco has been selling CNG (compressed natural gas) buses for a few years (these buses are used in cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Paris or Milano), the Italian marque has created the first series of models that guarantee widespread use for private users. Some of these CNG Ivecos are currently being used as garbage trucks in the city of Barcelona.
