<br />
Typically, when we receive a copy of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/video+game/">a new video game to review</a>, diving into and documenting the online/multiplayer aspects of it proves challenging. There are a few reasons for this: We're generally playing the game before or right after it has gone on sale, which really limits the number of folks playing online, but in the case of <em>NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, </em>we're happy that we got some playtime in on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/xBox/">Xbox</a> Live to start our test.<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="pull-quote pull-quote-left">
	<p>
		Online gamers not only had strong first opinions about this NASCAR game versus the last one, but also proved pretty knowledgeable about the sport in general.</p>
</blockquote>
That's not because the online racing in this all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/nascar/">NASCAR</a> title from Eutechnyx is particularly compelling (in fact it's neither more nor less flawed than the single-player portion of the game), but rather because the people playing online are some of the best subject matter experts that we could have hoped to find for this review. At least on Day One of the release of <em>Inside Line</em>, the online lobbies were filled to brimming with gamers that not only had strong first opinions about this NASCAR game versus the last one (2011's <em>NASCAR The Game</em>), but who also proved pretty knowledgeable about the sport in general.<br />
<br />
There was a lot of talk about the overall handling of the racecars and the effectiveness of bump drafting on high-speed banked turns, for instance. Our co-racers in that first session seemed to agree that <em>Inside Line</em> had added detail in areas of the game that weren't critical to a positive core racing experience (detailed effects for crash scenes and a more comprehensive pit lane menu, for instance), while making the driving dynamics twitchier with a great many more crashes happening overall. In short, they weren't loving it.<br />
<br />
The results, for the NASCAR gaming faithful, and for us, was an experience that wasn't all that much fun most of the time.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/19/nascar-the-game-inside-line-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em><i>NASCAR The Game: Inside Line</i> [w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/19/nascar-the-game-inside-line-w-video/"><i>NASCAR The Game: Inside Line</i> [w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2012 14:59:00 EST. <br />
What would a superhero movie be without the fancy cars? Well, it would still be a superhero movie, we suppose, but we prefer the kind that has some flashy wheels. Like the upcoming Marvel flick <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/the+avengers/"><em>The Avengers</em></a>.<br />
<br />
As you may have heard, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/acura">Acura</a> signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel to have its cars featured in a series of superhero movies, and indeed several already have. But for <em>The Avengers</em>, Acura had to work up something special enough to replace Tony Stark's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/r8">Audi R8</a>. Since the old <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/nsx">NSX</a> was long out of production when they began shooting and the new one wasn't ready yet, the Japanese automaker and the film studio put together something of a hybrid.<br />
<br />
Not a hybrid as we tend to use the term in automotive spheres, but an amalgamation of the old NSX and the new one. They took a 1991 NSX and gave it a new roadster body to mimic the concept car that's been making the rounds of the auto show circuit.<br />
<br />
Our compatriots over at Inside Line got a behind-the-scenes look at the roadster, along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/05/acura-mdx-ready-to-s-h-i-e-l-d-the-avengers-from-harm/">kitted-out MDX</a> crossover and a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/acura/tl">TL</a> with a similar treatment. <a href="/2012/04/16/inside-line-snags-drive-of-acura-nsx-roadster-from-the-avenge/#continued">Scroll down</a> to watch the video clips they put together, and the <a href="http://www.insideline.com/acura/nsx/driving-the-avengers-acura-nsx-roadster.html">corresponding article here</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/16/inside-line-snags-drive-of-acura-nsx-roadster-from-the-avenge/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Inside Line snags drive of Acura NSX Roadster from <i>The Avengers</i></em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/16/inside-line-snags-drive-of-acura-nsx-roadster-from-the-avenge/">Inside Line snags drive of Acura NSX Roadster from <i>The Avengers</i></a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 20:00:00 EST. <br />
One rear-drive coupe with over 500 horsepower would be enough for most automakers. But not <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/gm">General Motors</a>. The biggest of the Detroit automakers just couldn't get by with what some rivals would put on a showroom turntable with more flood-lights than an ATF raid. That's why it makes the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/corvette/">Chevrolet Corvette Z06</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/zr1/">ZR1</a>, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro/">Camaro ZL1</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/cadillac/cts-v+coupe/">Cadillac CTS-V</a>. (And that's before we get into overseas products like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/15/2011-vauxhall-vxr8-is-all-we-really-want-for-the-holidays/">Holden Commodore GTS/Vauxhall VXR8</a>.)<br />
<br />
The question is, which one is best for burnouts? To bring us one step closer to the answer we all crave, our compatriots over at Inside Line took two such 500+hp GM super-coupes - the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/07/2012-chevrolet-centennial-edition-corvette-is-all-about-racing-h/">Z06 Centennial Edition</a> and the CTS-V Coupe - down to the Streets of Willow for the fifth installment of their Burnout Super Test.<br />
<br />
So, which of the General's eight-cylinder muscle machines laid down the longest strip of rubber? We won't spoil it for you, so <a href="/2012/01/25/chevy-corvette-z06-centennial-goes-head-to-head-with-cadillac-ct/#continued">follow the jump to watch the video clip</a> and the <a href="http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/corvette/2012/burnout-super-test-part-5-corvette-z06-centennial-edition-vs-cadillac-cts-v-coupe.html">link for the full article</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/25/chevy-corvette-z06-centennial-goes-head-to-head-with-cadillac-ct/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chevy Corvette Z06 Centennial goes head-to-head with Cadillac CTS-V Coupe in Burnout Super Test</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/25/chevy-corvette-z06-centennial-goes-head-to-head-with-cadillac-ct/">Chevy Corvette Z06 Centennial goes head-to-head with Cadillac CTS-V Coupe in Burnout Super Test</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 25 Jan 2012 15:00:00 EST. <br />
If you've ever taken a good long look at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/g-class">Mercedes-Benz G-Class</a> and wondered just how tough the leather-lined SUVs are compared to their military-grade counterparts, Inside Line has the answer for you. Corespondent Alistair Weaver joined up with a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz">Mercedes-Benz</a> convoy in a G of his own as the company took off across Australia's infamous stock route. The trail is little more than a dusty path scrawled across the outback. Weaver braved vicious washboard roads, insects, snakes, dead camels and heinous heat to make the trek. How did his G Wagen handle the rough roads and deep sands? Let's just say there were a few issues.<br />
<br />
For starters, the washboard dirt tracks made short work of the AMG's Bilstein rear shocks, forcing mechanics to pull the pieces altogether for one short stint before replacements could be flown in. Likewise, the spare tire carrier and both side-view mirrors suffered cracks along the way. Not surprisingly, the military-spec edition suffered no ills over the course of the trek. <a href="/2011/12/28/traveling-across-australias-outback-by-mercedes-benz-g-class/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to check out the video for yourself.<br />

<br />
Inside Line is at it again, this time with a list of the 100 worst cars ever made. While we were pretty pleased with the website's choices for <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/16/inside-line-attempts-to-name-the-100-greatest-cars-of-all-time/">its 100 best</a> earlier this year, this one is somewhat less satisfying, which is to be expected.<br />
<br />
Calling out the bad eggs is indeed trickier and more fraught with potential missteps than merely committing sins of omission. So yes, we've got our beef with a few of the cars listed. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/gm/">General Motors</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GM%20EV1/"> EV1</a> at #92? That's like calling out Gottleib Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach for not building a flying car. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/">Porsche</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Porsche%20914/"> 914</a> at #45? Hardly. If you want to pick on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/">Porsche</a>, why not the 924? Speaking of which, putting the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/">BMW</a> Isetta on the list (#3) is like bullying a kindergartener. And don't even get us started on the inclusion of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Ariel+Atom/">Ariel Atom</a>, at #94 or any other number.<br />
<br />
Despite our quibbling, the list is a lot of fun - and sure to bring back "fond" memories for those who've had the misfortune of owning Iron Duke-powered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/gm/">GM</a> products or tried to convince others that a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/renault/">Renault</a> Fuego qualifies as a sports car. After devouring all 100 entries, we can say with certainty that there are far more "worthy" of inclusion here, and encourage you to name names in the comments.<br />
<br />
And before anyone gets upset that our lede photo spills the beans on the "winner," ask yourself, is there any other vehicle that could possibly top such a list?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/14/inside-line-attempts-to-name-100-worst-cars-of-all-time/">Inside Line attempts to name 100 Worst Cars of All Time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Dec 2011 11:28:00 EST. <br />
It's no secret that manufacturers sometimes underrate horsepower and torque figures for certain high performance models. This practice has been going on since the muscle car wars, and we don't see it stopping anytime soon. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/inside+line">Inside Line</a> wanted to find out what the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/1+series+m">2011 BMW 1 Series M</a> is putting down for power, so rather than rely on the manufacturer's information, the IL crew took a trip to the local <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dyno">dyno</a>.<br />
<br />
In case you'd forgotten, the 1 Series M is rated at 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque under normal operation, but an "overboost" function increases turbo pressure allowing the engine to make 369 pound-feet of torque for brief periods.<br />
<br />
What happened when Inside Line hooked the 1M up to a rolling road? Let's just say <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw">BMW</a> is keeping the underrated power game alive. <a href="/2011/05/27/bmw-1-m-coupe-gets-strapped-to-the-dyno/#continued">Click past the jump</a> to watch the clip and see what we mean.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/27/bmw-1-m-coupe-gets-strapped-to-the-dyno/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW 1 M Coupe gets strapped to the dyno</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/27/bmw-1-m-coupe-gets-strapped-to-the-dyno/">BMW 1 M Coupe gets strapped to the dyno</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 27 May 2011 18:58:00 EST. <br />
We've seen a lot of creative comparison tests over the years. Most of them involve new cars compared against other new cars. But for its latest retrospective, Inside Line has gone a decidedly different route, comparing the various renditions of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/lamborghini">Lamborghini</a> Countach against each other. And they brought along Lamborghini's veteran test driver Valentino Balboni for an inside line of his own.<br />
<br />
Now if you think the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/murcielago">Murcielago</a> lasted a long time, well... it did. Eight years, in fact. The Diablo before it lasted eleven. But the Countach was around for an astonishing sixteen years - an incredibly long lifetime for any car. And over the course of the three decades it remained in production, the Countach spawned numerous derivatives, from the original production LP400 through the wide-body S and the Quattrovalvole through to the straked 25th Anniversary edition.<br />
<br />
As the Countach ages from the chintzy and cartoonish to the iconic and historic, choosing which one stood out as the finest example was undoubtedly a difficult task, but someone had to do it. Follow <a href="http://www.insideline.com/lamborghini/comparing-the-countaches.html">the link</a> to see what they found. It's worth the read.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/10/valentino-balboni-picks-his-favorite-lamborghini-countach/">Valentino Balboni picks his favorite Lamborghini Countach</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 10 May 2011 17:01:00 EST. <br />
Our compatriots over at Edmunds' Inside Line said it best: The new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/aventador">Lamborghini Aventador</a> looked pretty striking sitting still upon its debut at the <a href="http://autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show">Geneva Motor Show</a> this year, but a Raging Bull like this one shouldn't be sitting still. It needs to be run, and run hard.<br />
<br />
Fortunately, our friends had the opportunity to accompany the new Lambo on a video shoot in the Californian desert to let it stretch its legs and get it good and covered in silt. Follow the jump to watch <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/24/video-inside-line-takes-us-behind-the-scenes-with-the-lamborghi/#continued">the video footage</a>.<br />

<br />
Lift the hood of a 2011 <a href="http://autoblog.com/dodge/charger/">Dodge Charger R/T</a> and you'll find a powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine bursting at the seams. It's a joyous site that gets better when armed with the knowledge of the Hemi's prodigious power - 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque, to be exact.<br />
<br />
But just how accurate are those numbers? The folks over at Inside Line put the Charger R/T to the test on their dyno, and it appears Chrysler may be underplaying its hand. Tests by Inside Line show that the Charger R/T sends 360 hp to the rear wheels at 5,300 RPM, with torque peaking at 393 lb-ft at 4,260 RPM. When you consider that the average drivetrain accounts for a 10 to 15 percent power reduction before its all sent to the wheels, you're looking at a powertrain with a lot more bite than the company brochure cares to admit. <a href="http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2011/03/dyno-tested-2011-dodge-charger-rt.html">Head over to Inside Line</a> to see the official horsepower and torque map.<br />

<br />
The shape may be very similar, but the technology underpinning a modern <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/land+rover/range+rover">Range Rover</a> is light years ahead of what you will find propping up an older model. Inside Line was able to line up two examples of the Range Rover; a 1993 model and the 2011 version. The two were then put through their paces at legendary Eastnor Castle, which sits at the border of England and Wales.<br />
<br />
Eastnor is the site where many a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/land-rover/">Land Rover</a> has been put through difficult off-road situations. Today, the castle serves as the headquarters for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/12/autoblog-travelogue-land-rover-experience-at-the-biltmore-estat/">Land Rover Driving Experience</a> and is the perfect place to find out how old and new compare with one another.<br />
<br />
Sure, coil springs have been replaced by an adjustable platform that literally rides on a cushion of air and the engine has changed from an old <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/buick">Buick</a> to one sourced from <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/jaguar">Jaguar</a>, but how do the two off-roaders stack up when the going gets really tough? <a target="_blank" href="http://www.insideline.com/features/1993-range-rover-vs-2011-range-rover.html">Head over to Inside Line</a> to read all about it.<br />

<br />
Once again, Subaru's mainstay models, the <a href="http://autoblog.com/subaru/outback">Outback</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/subaru/legacy">Legacy</a>, appear to be girding for a recall. Both models have already faced callbacks for <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/12/subaru-recalling-nearly-30-000-outback-legacy-models-over-cvt-c/">leaky CVT hoses</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/13/subaru-recalling-nearly-74-000-2010-outback-and-legacy-models-ov/">wiring issues</a>, but according to Inside Line, a new issue affecting a number of manual transmission-equipped 2010 and 2011 models will not only precipitate another recall, but also a stop-sale on all potentially-affected vehicles.<br />
<br />
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the oil lubrication hole in the six-speed manual transmission has not been drilled on the affected vehicles, which can cause gears to break. NHTSA issued a statement, saying:<br />
<blockquote>
<div><em>"If the transmission gears are not properly lubricated, a groaning sound may begin to develop, alerting the driver to a problem. If this sound is ignored and no action is taken, the gears will eventually break and this condition will lead to vehicle power loss, possibly resulting in a crash."</em></div>
</blockquote>Vehicles will be repaired, free of charge, at any Subaru dealer in America. Most will simply have an oil lubrication hole drilled, though the automaker has informed its dealer network that vehicles with 6,250 miles or more will require the replacement of the third through sixth gearsets, as well as the main shaft.<br />
<br />
A total of 809 Outback and Legacy models are affected by this recall, which is expected to officially go into effect on August 6. In the meantime, owners are urged to contact their local dealers as soon as possible to have this problem corrected.<br />

We've already seen the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/01/live-webcast-2011-land-rover-lrx-reveal-starts-now/">Evoque</a>, Land Rover's small crossover, and new reports state that Jaguar's new small sports car will be revealed in concept form at next year's <a href="http://autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show">Geneva Motor Show</a>.<br />
<br />
These rumblings come right on the heels of Jaguar reportedly saying that it will produce a version of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/28/report-jaguar-f-type-gets-the-greenlight/">F-Type sports car</a>, though it's still unclear if the Geneva-bound XE is a different model altogether. According to Inside Line, the XE will be based on a shortened version of the next-generation <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/xk">XK</a> architecture. If the concept stays true to most of Jaguar's recent designs, it should be quite eye-catching, as well.<br />
<br />
We fully expect more and more details to drop about the new XE in the coming months, so stay tuned for updates.<br />

<br />
Not too long ago, the rumormill was buzzing about the possibility of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/13/report-ford-adding-supercrew-to-svt-raptor-lineup/">Ford offering a SuperCrew version</a> of the brutal <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">F-150 SVT Raptor</a>, adding four-door versatility to the already awesome prowess of the automaker's latest pickup. Now, Inside Line reports that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford/">Ford</a> has confirmed production of the more spacious Raptor for the 2011 model year.<br />
<br />
IL also states that Ford will only offer the SuperCrew Raptor with the top-rung <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/09/ford-raptor-6-2-liter-goes-on-sale-nearly-3-000-already-ordered/">6.2-liter V8</a>, which produces a healthy 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. Need to get the family across the desert in a hurry? This is the truck you'll want to opt for. We'll wait for the official word from Ford before we discuss pricing, but expect the SuperCrew model to ring in just above the standard 6.2-liter Raptor's base price of $41,995.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/dodge/ram+hd">Ram Power Wagon</a>, prepare to meet your match.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 hits the dyno - Click above to watch the video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/25/video-inside-line-dynos-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-5-0/#continued">after the jump</a></small></strong></em></div>
<br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Ford/">Ford</a> says that the 2011 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Mustang/">Mustang</a> GT makes 412 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, thanks to its new, advanced 5.0-liter V8. Well, Ford may just be full of crap. Autojournos have descended upon California this week to to kick the snot out of the 2011 Mustangs at the Blue Oval's invitation, and Inside Line took one of the new 5.0 GT models and strapped it to a Dynojet to see what the <em>real</em> numbers were. Thankfully, they do not disappoint. <br /> <br /> It's like this: after seven pulls, Inside Line's tester reliably belted out 395 horsepower at 6,600 RPM and 365 pound-feet of torque at 4,350 rpm. That's at the wheel, natch, and since <em>IL</em> estimates the 'Stang sees only an 11% to 13% driveline loss thanks to its stick axle, the car is likely making somewhere between 438 and 446 horsepower at the crank - far more than the advertised 412.<br /> <br /> This should come as no surprise to anyone, especially Inside Line. After all, last year <a href="http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2009/06/defying-dyno-expectations-in-the-2010-shelby-gt500.html">they did the same thing with a 2010 GT500</a> only to learn that - surprise! - it was underrated. (Their tester put down 511 horsepower at the wheel. The guys figured the number at the crank to be around 570 horses, not the 540 advertised). <br /> <br /> Is it possible that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2011FordMustangGT/">2011 Ford Mustang GT</a> media launch testers are juiced? Sure it is, but we think it's unlikely. Reason number one is that Ford would be exposed the moment customer cars started getting delivered and dynoed, which would then look really foolish. Reason number two is the 1999 SVT Cobra. Upon its release, that particular car became infamous for <em>not</em> making its advertised 320 horsepower. While Ford eventually made things right via a recall, the incident was clearly embarrassing and likely left Dearborn with a "never again" mentality that sticks to this day. Hence, we're inclined to think Inside Line's numbers are no fluke. The 2011 Ford Mustang GT, with its new engine, is designed to punch the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro">Chevrolet Camaro</a> in the teeth and make it taste blood. By underrating the 5.0, Ford's just, you know, making sure. <br /> <br /> Stay tuned for our man Lieberman's first drive impressions next week. In the meantime, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/25/video-inside-line-dynos-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-5-0/#continued">follow the jump for video</a> of one of Inside Line's dyno pulls and <a href="http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/03/inside-line-dyno-tests-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-50.html">visit them to watch a few more</a> and read their full analysis. <em>Thanks to everyone for the tips!</em><br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt">Detroit 2010: 2011 Ford Mustang GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/01mustang50detroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/02mustang50detroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/03mustang50detroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/04mustang50detroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-2011-ford-mustang-gt/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/05mustang50detroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8">Detroit 2010: Ford's 5.0L V8</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/0150enginedetroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/0250enginedetroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/0350enginedetroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/0450enginedetroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2010-fords-5-0l-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/0550enginedetroitlive_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/03/inside-line-dyno-tests-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-50.html">Inside Line</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/25/video-inside-line-dynos-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-5-0/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Inside Line dynos the 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/25/video-inside-line-dynos-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-5-0/">Video: Inside Line dynos the 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 25 Mar 2010 12:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 BMW 135i - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
The rumormill has been buzzing lately about a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/06/report-details-on-2011-bmw-m1-trickle-out/">possible M-badged version</a> of the lovely <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/1+series">BMW 1 Series</a>. (We still have a hard time calling it M1, since that name has long been reserved for a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M1">far more illustrious creation</a>.) A new report from <em>Inside Line</em>, however, reveals that while a 1 Series-based M1 isn't in the cards, we can look forward to seeing a hotted-up 135is, similar to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/12/embargo-12-12-09-6pm-est-detroit-preview-bmw-to-unveil-faster/">Z4 sDrive35is</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/28/first-drive-2011-bmw-335is-munich-finally-builds-a-special-on/">335is</a> that have just recently been introduced.<br />
<br />
Expect the 135is to use the boosted version of BMW's N54 twin-turbo six found in the Z4 and 3 Series variants. This means we can expect total output numbers around the 320 horsepower and 332 pound-feet mark, with an overboost mode that delivers up to 370 lb-ft for brief periods of time. Additionally, a more aggressively tuned suspension will be on hand, improving the coupe's overall dynamics. It might not be as exciting as what a full-bore M1 could be, but we aren't complaining, especially since we're such big fans of the current 135i as is.<br />
<br />
So, why not do an M1? Much like the problem <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche/">Porsche</a> faces with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayman">Cayman</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">911</a>, a too-good 1 Series could potentially overthrow the grandaddy M3, and BMW certainly wouldn't want that. Still, we're glad that BMW is committed to producing a more potent 1 Series and are eagerly awaiting our first drive.<br />
<br />

All you need to do is solve the mystery of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/toyota/">Toyota's</a> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/toyota_recall/guide">unintended acceleration issues</a> and our friends over at Edmunds will give you a cool million dollars.<br />
<br />
Edmunds CEO Jeremy Anwyl claims his company has heard "compelling testimony" from customers, and much of what's been documented (including a <a href="http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f105086/0">2006 forum</a> on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/toyota/sienna">Toyota Sienna</a> unintended acceleration) hasn't been addressed by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigations. The online vehicle information resource site says it's coming up with rules for a competition that will earn a lucky person (or more likely a group) $1 million for determining the true cause of Toyota's unintended acceleration woes. Anwyl compares the challenge to the 'open source' software challenge, adding "let's see if this kind of 'crowd sourcing' can work in the pressing area of automotive safety."<br />
<br />
We're thinking there are quite a few technical schools out there that may want to offer extra credit for the win. Who wouldn't want to attend the institution that solved the unintended acceleration mystery? The cool million in prize money could buy a lot of band uniforms, too. We'll bring you more details on the contest as they become available. <br />

<br />
We love award season, even if it is a bit tough to keep up with them all. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/17/ford-fusion-car-of-the-year-motor-trend/"><em>Motor Trend</em></a><em> </em>has a set of golden calipers for its Car, Truck and SUV of the Year winners. <em>Car and Driver </em>has its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/24/image-car-and-driver-announces-2010-10best-cars/">10Best</a>. <em>Automobile</em> has the, well, the Automobile of the Year. Then there's Edmunds Inside Line and its six Most Wanted winners. Sure, Most Wanted doesn't enjoy the same sort of name recognition as the aforementioned awards, but at the very least, we tend to like the vehicles IL picks as their favorites. We also appreciate the fact that their selection process isn't exactly chock-full of rules. If they tested the vehicle before November 1, 2009, then it's eligible for Inside Line's six shooter. The only award category that truly stands out is the "Instant Classic," an award won over the last two years by the Audi R8 and the Nissan GT-R, respectively. <br />
<br />
This year's list didn't have quite the raw power of <a href="http://www.insideline.com/mercedes-benz/s-class/2009/2009-edmunds-inside-line-editors-most-wanted-awards.html">last year's winners</a>, but we can definitely see where the final six could be considered big fun on four wheels. The big winner is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/shelby+gt500">2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500</a>. The 540-horsepower pony car picked up IL's Instant Classic award for being such a willing dance partner - even at 3,900 pounds. In fact, Blue Oval badges dominate this year's Most Wanted list, as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/12/2010-ford-flex-ecoboost-review/">EcoBoost'd Flex</a> and the wicked cool <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/raptor">F-150 SVT Raptor</a> made the final cut. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche/">Porsche</a> scored with its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/panamera">Panamera</a>, while <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/audi/">Audi</a> found its way back on the list with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/r8">R8 V10</a>. The cheap thrills <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/mazda3">Mazda3</a> rounds out this year's list. Click on the gallery below to check out Inside Line's Most Wanted winners in our high-res gallery, then let us know if you agree with their findings by leaving a note in 'Comments.'<br />

If you're looking for a practical, fuel efficient subcompact, you've got a few options, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/HondaFit/">Honda Fit</a> remains a top pick for many. The five-door hatchback packs plenty of volume, while also providing just enough punch to deliver smiles on the open road. <br /> <br /> Doubtlessly jealously eying the Fit's success, Ford officials are counting down the months until they can finally provide some competition in the form of their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2011Fiesta/">2011 Fiesta</a> - but does it have the goods to knock the Fit from atop the subcompact mountain?<br /> <br /> The crew at Inside Line wanted to answer that question and brought the Fit face-to-face against a European-spec Fiesta in a battle for B-Segment superiority. The Fit came in for praise for its masterfully engineered interior and massive cargo area, while the Fiesta was lauded for its superb driving dynamics and higher end materials. Which subcompact all-star came out on top in the battle of the (little) bulge? <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=157526?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*">Head over to Inside Line</a> to find out.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec">Review: 2010 Ford Fiesta (Euro-Spec)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/fiesta_fd000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/fiesta_fd001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/fiesta_fd002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/fiesta_fd003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2010-ford-fiesta-euro-spec/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/fiesta_fd004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort">First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit Sport</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-1280-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-hokhjgynda-fimhjihgt-spjbhjort/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-1280-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=157526?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*">Inside Line</a> | Image Source: Kevin Wing]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/22/inside-line-pits-ford-fiesta-against-honda-fit-in-small-car-scra/">Inside Line pits Ford Fiesta against Honda Fit in small car scrap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 22 Sep 2009 12:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>2011 Hyundai Sonata spy shots - Click above for image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Back in June, we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/18/2010-hyundai-santa-fe-sonata-to-get-direct-inject-four-cylinder/">reported on a news story</a> in the <em>Montgomery Advertiser</em> saying that the 2011 Hyundai Sonata would be unveiled in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It appears that Hyundai may be holding off the introduction of its bread and butter sedan for a larger audience in Detroit. Inside Line is reporting that the Sonata will bow in the Motor City, giving Hyundai a big-league entry at the North American International Auto Show.<br /><br />When describing the design direction of the new Sonata, Hyundai USA CEO John Krafcik told IL the 2011 model would be "bold, so bold." Judging from the many <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/08/reader-spy-nearly-undisguised-next-gen-hyundai-sonata-snapped-i/">spy photos we've seen</a>, we're thinking that could be an apt description. We see well-sculpted sheetmetal punctuated with a four door coupe-like roof line, but we'll have to wait until the covers come off to hand down a verdict.. <br /><br />Hyundai is also rumored to be using direct injection technology to power the four cylinder Sonata. The mooted 2.2-liter powertrain is expected to produce in the neighborhood of 200 horsepower while also improving fuel economy versus the 2009 model by 5% to 10%. Hyundai has been on a roll of late with its successful launches of the Genesis Coupe and Sedan, and if it can pull off a showstopper at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a> with the 2011 Sonata, the Korean automaker will officially be on fire.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots">2011 Hyundai Sonata - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/djsammy_dsc00300hda_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/djsammy_dsc00301y_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/djsammy_dsc00302c_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/djsammy_dsc00304_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata-spy-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/djsammy_dsc00305c_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightline/2009/07/2011-hyundai-sonata-will-debut-at-detroit-auto-show.html">Inside Line</a> | Images: Sammy_R-Gti of <a href="http://www.assayyarat.com/">assayyarat.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/report-2011-hyundai-sonata-coming-to-detroit-auto-show/">REPORT: 2011 Hyundai Sonata coming to Detroit Auto Show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 16:26:00 EST. The Ford Mustang has got Steve McQueen's classic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullitt"><em>Bullitt</em>,</a> and the Dodge Challenger has got <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_Point"><em>Vanishing Point</em></a>. In fact, we've already seen one Vanishing Point-inspired Challenger <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/03/vanishing-point-challenger-meets-tire-wall-at-road-america/">meet its maker</a> on Turn 2 at Road America. <em>Inside Line</em> recently had its first turn behind the wheel of a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and also decided to pay its respects to Kowalski's opus. They took the brand new Challenger on a little road trip following the fateful path of Kowalski in the movie from Denver, Colorado to San Francisco, California. Just for kicks, they brought along a vintage 1970 Dodge Challenger that's a near perfect copy of the one used in <em>Vanishing Point</em>. The classic iron was, however, packing a slightly modified motor putting out 607 horsepower, but details, details... The article is definitely worth a read if only to vicariously absorb what it feels like to go 170 mph in a new Challenger, and the <em>Inside Line</em> team was also kind enough to supply us with a few of their spare high-res images for an Autoblog exclusive gallery below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip">Inside Line Challenger SRT8 road trip</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/00_insidelinechallengervp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/01_insidelinechallengervp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/02_insidelinechallengervp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/03_insidelinechallengervp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inside-line-challenger-srt8-road-trip/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/04_insidelinechallengervp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=126092?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/06/inside-line-pits-challenger-against-challenger-in-vanishing-poin/">Inside Line pits Challenger against Challenger in Vanishing Point-inspired road trip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 06 May 2008 19:58:00 EST.
