VIDEO: BMW X6 teaser with Chris Bangle

The build-up to the debut of the BMW X6 is nigh, and in addition to the de-camo'd mule that was spied earlier today, the boys from Bavaria have decided to let Chris Bangle explain the design ethos of the new SAV in front of a cloaked concept.

Mr. Bangle goes into detail over the six-minute flick about what BMW's aim for the X6 is, who it's targeting and what kind of capabilities we should expect from this 'ute in coupe's clothing. He even says that it might have some off-road prowess. We shall see.

In the meantime, check out the BMW-produced video after the jump and keep tabs on all the unveilings from the IAA in Frankfurt here.

BMW joins smart in threatening copy-cat Chinese

You might recall a post last week regarding a little tiff between Smart and Shuanghuan, the purveyors of the Noble, a dead ringer for the German firm's fortwo. That vehicle, along with an SUV dubbed the CEO, will be gracing the stand of the Chinese automaker next month in Frankfurt, and it looks as though BMW may be considering legal action as well.

The CEO has a distinctly last-gen. X5 feel to it, particularly when viewed in profile and from the rear. According to Automotive News' sister publication, Automobilwoche, BMW is considering legal action if and when the CEO is unveiled, and may attempt to halt distribution of the SUV in Europe.

The IAA, the governing body for next month's show, has regulations in place that would require copyright violators to remove its products, and its entire exhibition space, from the show floor if a court-imposed injunction is filed.

We're hoping to be on hand next month if an international incident does, in fact, takes place.

Frankfurt Preview: Kia releases second tease of Sports Coupe Concept

While there's absolutely no new information to go along with it, a second teaser image of Kia's Frankfurt-bound Sports Coupe Concept has found its way onto the web. Following up the exotic front-end view shown in July, the profile shot above reveals a shape that, at first look, seems less swoopy as we would have expected. The curved roof extends pretty far back before angling back down, making for more practical if less dramatic packaging for the 2+2. A pronounced shoulder over the rear wheel hints at muscle, though we have no idea what the powertrain in this concept consists of yet. The design study is said to offer a window into Kia's design future, and we're curious to see what this thing looks like when all the shadows are gone and it's basking under the lights on the IAA show floor.

UPDATE: Reader "pixelcut" has photoshopped away more of the shadows, revealing the lower portion of the car in greater detail. Follow the jump to see that view and the official press release that accompanied the second teaser shot.
