<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/huet/">Huet Brothers</a> original <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/02/huet-brothers-special-a-classic-roadster-for-epic-journeys/">HB Special</a>, released three years ago, was based on the aging mechanicals of a Triumph TR6. The new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/01/huet-brothers-returning-with-handsome-new-retro-coupe-w-video/">HB Coupe</a> should have stronger bones: it starts its life as a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/1+series/">BMW 1 Series Coupe</a>.<br />
<br />
Buyers can opt for the daily-driver model announced a couple of weeks ago, or one of the two more hardcore iterations shown here. The HB Coupe RR modifies the BMW underpinnings with a full carbon monocoque, gives it a more spartan interior, and offers a buffet of engine options, including a 220-horsepower diesel four, a 3.0-liter inline six with 306 hp, or the full M-spec 330 hp six for a 0-60 run in 5.3, 4.0 or 3.8 seconds, respectively.<br />
<br />
Not shabby, but for the truly performance-obsessed there's also a track-ready Race model. Tino and Paul Huet are taking orders, but in order to complete development and begin construction, they're generating capital by <a href="http://www.huetbrothers.com/Shops/7/Group_Deals.html">selling their line of wristwatches</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/18/huet-brothers-go-more-hardcore-with-coupe-rr-and-race-models/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Huet Brothers announce Coupe RR and Race models</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/18/huet-brothers-go-more-hardcore-with-coupe-rr-and-race-models/">Huet Brothers announce Coupe RR and Race models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 18 Feb 2012 13:02:00 EST. <br />
Don't believe anyone who tells you "they don't build 'em like they used to." Not even us. Because they do, in fact, build them even better, with the benefit of a century's worth of automotive development. Styling, however, is a matter of taste, and beauty is in the proverbial eye of the beholder. So you could certainly make the case that cars were more beautiful back in the day.<br />
<br />
That, you see, is where the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/huet/">Huet Brothers</a> come in. Several years ago, the Dutch fraternity rolled out the HB Special, a retro roadster based on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/triumph">Triumph</a> TR6, designed for use in classic rallies organized by the Huets but also available for sale in limited quantities. Now Tino and Paul are back with a fixed-roof coupe design they've been working on.<br />
<br />
Still in the development phase, the classically proportioned HB Coupe promises to offer the comforts and reliability of a modern car with the style and charm of a classic. Weighing in at little over 2,400 lbs, it packs a 3.0-liter inline-six of unspecified origin - presumably BMW - mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch transmission. So equipped, the drivetrain is said to be good for 306 horsepower, an anticipated 4.3-second run to 62 mph and a 155 mph top end. A 2.0-liter, 204-horsepower diesel four (with six-speed manual or automatic) is also scheduled to be available for a 5.6-second sprint.<br />
<br />
HB is also planning a more performance-oriented version as well as a racing model in the future, but the brothers are taking things one step at a time. In a novel approach to raising capital, HB is selling wristwatches and other gear to help get the project off the ground, and it has two timepieces currently on promotion in a group deal you can <a href="http://www.huetbrothers.com/Shops/7/Group_Deals.html">check out on their website</a>. There's no word yet on pricing, so watch this space for more. In the meantime, you can scope out the video and details <a href="/2012/02/01/huet-brothers-returning-with-handsome-new-retro-coupe-w-video/#continued">after the jump</a> and the design renderings in the image gallery above.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/01/huet-brothers-returning-with-handsome-new-retro-coupe-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Huet Brothers returning with handsome new retro coupe [w/video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/01/huet-brothers-returning-with-handsome-new-retro-coupe-w-video/">Huet Brothers returning with handsome new retro coupe [w/video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 19:31:00 EST. <div align="left">Regulars here at Autoblog may have caught <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/02/huet-brothers-special-a-classic-roadster-for-epic-journeys/">the HB Special we reported on two weeks ago</a>. The retro roadster, inspired classic by the Le Mans and Mille Miglia racers of the 1950's, was created by Dutch brothers Tino and Paul Huet, who intended to produce a limited quantity exclusively for use on their European classic motoring rallies. But demand for the unique HB Special grew to such an extent that the Huet Brothers have decided to put it into limited production.<br /><br />Based on a modified Triumph TR6 chassis, the HB Special uses the British roadster's original straight six, but bored out from 2.5- to 2.7-liter and fitted with new Honda pistons. Buyers can choose between three versions, with 160 or 180 hp or a supercharged version pumping out over 210 ponies. Buyers will also get the opportunity to specify from a wide range of options, from color and interior trim to a limited slip differential. The Huets plan on producing an initial run of five units, with a maximum of ten vehicles per year depending on demand. Prices start at &euro;67,000 for the 160hp model and range up to &euro;80k for a fully-optioned supercharged version. We've added a handful of new images to our high-resolution gallery of the HB Special, so check it out, along with the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special">Huet Brothers HB Special</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avside_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcornering_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/img_0611_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcorn3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcockpit3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.huetbrothers.com/">Huet Brothers</a>]</div>

<br />They don't build 'em like they used to. At least, most of 'em don't. But "most" doesn't include the Huet Brothers. The Dutch duo operates classic rallies and tours across Europe. But having grown up around vintage Alfas and Bugattis, Paul and Tino Huet wanted to recreate something special. The result is the HB Special, a neo-classic roadster with a modern twist inspired by events like the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio and Le Mans, which hosted competitors like the Aston Martin DBR1, Maserati 300 S and Ferrari 412 S. <br /><br />Based on a Triumph TR6, the HB Special uses carbon-fiber and aluminum to keep the weight down to just 750 kg (1650 lbs). The car is motivated by a simple inline-six engine, tuned to produce a modest 180 horsepower. But outright speed isn't the point: The HB Special, like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/18/like-they-used-to-sport-speciale-by-the-creative-workshop/">Creative Workshop's Sport Speciale</a>, is a modern exercise in classic design. The Huet Brothers plan to produce 12 examples, but they won't be for sale; they'll be used for hire in their exclusive HB Experience tours. To complement the car and the experience, the Huet Brothers have crafted a selection of classic motoring accessories, all of which you can check out on <a href="http://www.huetbrothers.com/">their website</a>, or click the images below to see the car in all its high-resolution glory.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special">Huet Brothers HB Special</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avside_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcornering_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/img_0611_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcorn3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huet-brothers-hb-special/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/avcockpit3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.huetbrothers.com/">Huet Brothers</a> via <a href="http://www.autogespot.com/en/item/392/spotted-huet-brothers-hb-special-limited-edition/">Autogespot</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/02/huet-brothers-special-a-classic-roadster-for-epic-journeys/">Huet Brothers Special: A classic roadster for epic journeys</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 02 Jan 2009 20:02:00 EST.
