<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/honda">Honda</a> has announced that the company is recalling around 700,000 vehicles globally for faulty lost motion springs in the valve train. The springs may fatigue and break over time, causing the engine to stall as a result. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/recall">recall</a> covers certain 2009-2010 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/fit">Fit</a>, Freed and City models, and so far the company has received a total of 72 complaints of the issue in Japan and 29 complaints from elsewhere in the world.<br />
<br />
No injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the problem.<br />
<br />
A total of 176,000 vehicles are being recalled in Japan, while another 156,000 are being brought in for inspection in China. A full 233,000 models are being recalled through the rest of Asia, and North America should see 122,000 cars head back to the dealership - over 97,000 of which are from the States. Hit the jump for Honda's official press release. <em>Thanks to everyone for the tips!</em><br />

<br /> For the aftermarket scene, SEMA isn't the only show in town. Well, in that particular town - Las Vegas, that is - maybe, but not in the world. Europe's got Essen, and Japan's got the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Tokyo-Auto-Salon/">Tokyo Auto Salon</a>. With the latter fast approaching, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/honda/">Honda</a> has revealed what they've got up their sleeves for this year.<br /> <br /> First is the Insight Sports Modulo Concept you see above. Based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/insight">Insight</a> hybrid, the concept demonstrates what Honda's Modulo customization range can do for the company's Toyota Prius rival. And if the idea of tricking out a hybrid seems strange to you, remember that this is the automaker that just gave us the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/11/detroit-2010-honda-cr-z-promises-to-bring-driving-joy-to-the-hy/">CR-Z</a>.<br /> <br /> Alongside the Insight show car, Honda Access Corporation (the accessorizing division of the motor company) will also showcase tricked-out versions of its Freed minivan and Life kei car, and a handful of other customized vehicles Honda offers in the Japanese Domestic Market. Considering how popular Hondas are with the tuner crowd, that should come as no great surprise, but you can read about them in the press release after the jump and view them in the high-res image gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon">Honda Tuner Concepts for 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/6361527_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/6655482_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/8385677_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/5815899_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-tuner-concepts-for-2010-tokyo-auto-salon/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/2437351_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Honda]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/13/honda-to-show-insight-sports-modulo-concept-more-at-tokyo-auto/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda to show Insight Sports Modulo Concept, more at Tokyo Auto Salon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/13/honda-to-show-insight-sports-modulo-concept-more-at-tokyo-auto/">Honda to show Insight Sports Modulo Concept, more at Tokyo Auto Salon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 13 Jan 2010 15:01:00 EST. <br />
Here in Tokyo, we were hanging around with some American Honda Motor Co. officials when they got their first up-close look at the Freed. The Freed is a compact minivan/MPV based on Honda's Fit architecture. For reference, the six-seat, three-row Freed is about 15 inches shorter than a Mazda5 and about 4 inches longer than a U.S.-spec Fit. <br />
<br />
Freed's third row seats fold up against the sides of its body, leaving a completely flat load floor. At least two U.S. Honda PR people checking out the model loved the idea of offering it Stateside, although they'd be inclined to see two changes. Because of the micro-van's short length, they would drop the third row and move the second row back for more legroom. Additionally, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (the same one used in the U.S. Fit) would also likely be replaced by something a bit larger for the our market - possibly a 1.8-liter or even a 2.0-liter. <br />
<br />
The Freed is a certainly an attractive package and could make a good competitor in the burgeoning small MPV segment against the likes of the Mazda5 and the forthcoming Chevrolet Orlando and Ford C-Max. What do you think? Have your say in the poll we're running after the jump. Honda's looking for feedback and would like to hear from you. <br />

On sale today as well, the Freed can carry up to eight passengers within its diminutive dimensions thanks to a low, completely flat floor and some clever packaging. Opt for captains chairs in the second row and you can still ferry seven people between Kyoto and Tokyo in relative comfort. The Freed will also be offered in three versions that accommodate people in wheelchairs with ramps and lift-up seats. Honda's JDM mini-minivan will be offered in front-wheel and all-wheel-drive models powered by a 1.5L VTEC four-cylinder engine mated to either a 5-speed automatic or CVT transmission. It looks like a promising vehicle that Japanese buyers will snap up like 10-cent sushi, and we bet Honda would find a market for the Freed here in the U.S. as well considering the current popularity of fuel-efficient vehicles packing tons of practicality.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed">2008 Honda Freed</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/000_08hondafreed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/001_08hondafreed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/002_08hondafreed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/003_08hondafreed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-honda-freed/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/004_08hondafreed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Honda]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/30/honda-freed-mini-minivan-debuts-in-japan/">Honda Freed mini-minivan debuts in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 17:29:00 EST.
