Honda has joined Nissan by pulling out of this fall's event in Germany in order to save money. Earlier this year, Nissan announced that it would only participate in one auto show on each continent -- Geneva, Tokyo and Los Angeles -- and although Honda hasn't made such a sweeping announcement yet, it appears to be taking things one show at a time. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see a similar move with only one North American show presence as well. At this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/DetroitAutoShow/">Detroit Auto Show</a>, Honda and Acura had stands but didn't bother with a press conference. Instead the new Insight was simply revealed on the show floor. <br /><br />Speaking of the Insight it goes on sale in Europe on April 18. Elsewhere, Honda will begin testing its FCX Clarity fuel cell car in Germany later this year and will divert other resources to fuel cell and hydrogen development. Honda sees fuel cells as a better long term bet than batteries and plug-in vehicles and intends to pursue that direction.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/honda-pulls-out-of-frankfurt-motor-show-to-save-costs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda pulls out of Frankfurt Motor Show to save costs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/honda-pulls-out-of-frankfurt-motor-show-to-save-costs/">Honda pulls out of Frankfurt Motor Show to save costs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Apr 2009 15:39:00 EST. The automaker has officially confirmed that both the FCX and a car based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/tokyo-motor-show-honda-strike-cr-x-strike-cr-z-concept/">CR-Z</a> that was unveiled just hours ago will make the transition to production. Regarding the FCX, there won't be long to wait, as the automaker will pull the covers off tof he production-spec car at next month's LA Auto Show, with sales to commence sometime in 2008. In 2009, it'll be joined in showrooms by both a production car based on the spiffy CR-Z hybrid and a "global hybrid" family car, the latter of which which we know little about at this time. If the CR-Z makes the trip from concept to road car relatively unscathed (well, except for that aardvark-like schnoz) and lives up to its mission statement of ecologically responsible performance, both green car and sport compact fans should have something to look forward to a couple of years down the line. <br /><br />[Source: Honda, lead photo by TORU YAMANAKA/AFP/Getty]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept">Honda CR-Z Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/77470518_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/77470091_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/honda_crz_live_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/honda_crz_live_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-cr-z-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/honda_crz_live_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <span style="font-weight: bold;">All live photos (C)2007 Damon Lavrinc / Weblogs, Inc.</span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/honda-confirms-production-fcx-and-car-based-on-cr-z-concept/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda confirms production FCX and car based on CR-Z Concept</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/honda-confirms-production-fcx-and-car-based-on-cr-z-concept/">Honda confirms production FCX and car based on CR-Z Concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 24 Oct 2007 16:29:00 EST. Honda claims the car gets the hydrogen equivalent of 68 mpg. For our money, we'll wait for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/08/diesel-vw-jetta-sportwagen-a-real-fuel-sipper/">Sportwagen</a>.<br /><br />At the same event, Honda officials said they were also planning to sell a sub-$25k hybrid within two years to slot below the current Civic hybrid. They said the budget hybrid wouldn't look like other Hondas, claiming current Civic hybrid's sales were outnumbered by the uniquely-designed Prius. <br /><br />Read about Autoblog Green's November test drive of the FCX <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2006/11/15/honda-fcx-concept-fuel-cell-car-pt-1-the-new-fuel-cell-stack/">here</a>.<br /><br />[Source: USA Today]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/11/honda-to-let-individuals-test-fcx-in-2008-plans-cheaper-hybrid/">Honda to let individuals test FCX in 2008; plans cheaper hybrid in 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 11 May 2007 09:38:00 EST.
