<br />Despite the fact that the entire world got an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/25/spy-shots-2009-honda-city-fully-revealed/">unabated view</a> of it already, Honda has just dropped the curtain on its brand-new City economy car that's now officially on sale in Thailand. No, we won't get this car in the States; it's destined to remain primarily in Asia and emerging markets. That's a shame, 'cause we can see plenty to like here, starting with its powertrain. A 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine sends a healthy 120 horsepower to the front wheels through either an automatic or manual transmission with five speeds. As you might imagine, it will positively sip fuel in the process. In Thailand, the new City will sell for 524,000 - 694,000 baht. Not that it matters since it won't be sold here, but that equals about $15,000 in U.S. dollars.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/">2009 Honda City</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/production_honda_city_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/production_honda_city_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/production_honda_city_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/production_honda_city_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-city/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/production_honda_city_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Honda]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/all-new-honda-city-launched-in-thailand/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>All-new Honda City launched in Thailand</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/all-new-honda-city-launched-in-thailand/">All-new Honda City launched in Thailand</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 10 Sep 2008 14:58:00 EST. We really dig the look of the new City, with its front-end clearly derived from newer Hondas like the FCX Clarity. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/997273/">Inside</a> is a neat and tidy dash, instrument cluster and center stack that makes us long for the simple designs from a few years back. Tucked in behind the steering wheel are <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/997274/">paddle shifters</a> for the automatic transmission and under the stylishly creased hood is a 120-horse 1.5-liter <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/997279/">four cylinder i-VTEC engine</a>, which is also used by the Fit and Jazz models. Based on photos alone, Honda could certainly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/23/honda-boosting-fit-production-to-meet-u-s-demand/">do worse</a> than to offer this fuel-sipper on U.S. shores. <em>Thanks for the tip, Ahsan</em>!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/">Sneak Peek: Honda City</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/honda_city_leak_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/honda_city_leak_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/honda_city_leak_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/honda_city_leak_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sneak-peek-honda-city-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/honda_city_leak_9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source <a href="http://www.pakwheels.com/forumreply_az_TopicID!84266~ForumID!1~pw.html">PakWheels.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/25/spy-shots-2009-honda-city-fully-revealed/">Spy Shots: 2009 Honda City fully revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 25 Aug 2008 13:28:00 EST. The previous generation had been based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/30/redesigned-honda-jazz-foretells-the-future-of-the-fit/">Honda Jazz</a>, known in the U.S. as the Fit, but the new model moves away from that platform and grows slightly larger in the process. Expect to see either a 1.3- or 1.5-liter i-VTEC SOHC engine underhood, along with either a standard manual tranny or a CVT automatic with seven preset ratios controlled through steering wheel-mounted paddles. Although Honda has no plans -- <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/07/honda-considering-offering-jdm-models-in-the-u-s/">as far as we know</a> -- to bring the City to the States, the Fit model has managed to post a huge 73% increase in sales this year. Considering <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/23/honda-boosting-fit-production-to-meet-u-s-demand/">how hot</a> fuel-sipping little cars are these days in the U.S. market, Honda could certainly do worse than to offer this attractive new subcompact car in the States.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://paultan.org/archives/2008/08/19/new-2009-honda-city-spotted-in-china/">paultan.org</a>]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/20/spy-shots-2009-honda-city/">Spy Shots: 2009 Honda City?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 08:31:00 EST.
