<br />
After providing us an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/09/first-shots-of-the-hennessey-performance-venom-gt/">exclusive glimpse inside the Hennessey Performance workshop</a>, the Texas-based tuner has let more details slip on the development of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Hennessey+Venom+GT/">Venom GT</a> -- a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/elise">Lotus Elise</a>-based supercar packing <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/zr1">Corvette ZR1</a> firepower.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/hennessey-performance-venom-gt-in-the-shop/#10"><img hspace="4" vspace="4" align="right" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/vgt-tail-250op.jpg" /></a>Before the production version debuts at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> this March, Hennessey has released a few renderings, along with more shots from inside the shop and a basic spec sheet, including performance figures and few technical details. The rear-drive, two-seater should tip the scales at 2,395 pounds, with a twin-turbo V8 mounted amidships and dolling out 1,000 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 950 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm. As reported previously, power will be sent through a six-speed manual gearbox with forward progressed scrubbed off by Brembo brakes sized 15 inches in front and 14 inches in the rear. And the performance stats are nothing short of unbelievable. 0-60 mph will be dispatched in 2.2 seconds. 0-100 mph in 4.9 seconds and the 200 mph mark will be had in 14.5 seconds before maxing out at a claimed 262 mph. Judging by the newly released pics, the Venom GT is nearly complete and we expect to see the production version <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/12/hennessey-venom-gt-to-debut-at-2010-geneva-motor-show/">before it's official unveiling in Switzerland</a>.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Hennessey Venom GT - Click above for image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Hennessey Performance is on a roll. First we got a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/24/video-onstar-calls-hennessey-after-tuned-cts-v-pulls-99-g/">Cadillac CTS-V that accelerates so violently it sets off its OnStar system</a>. Then we get a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/04/hennessey-hpe700-camaro-sema-2009/">Chevrolet Corvette ZR1-powered pony car</a> that handily won our Best Camaro of SEMA. Now this: The first shots of the Hennessey Venom GT, a lightweight, LS9-powered ICBM aimed directly at the world's hypercar elite.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/hennessey-releases-details-on-venom-gt/">Originally teased way back in November of 2007</a>, the House That Hennessey Built has been working overtime to create this Lotus Elise-based, mid-engine masterpiece for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> this March, and judging by these first shots from the shop, things are looking downright diabolical.<br />
<br />
According to Hennessey, the final weight - with fuel, but no driver - should come in under 2,400 pounds, and with the "mildly tweaked" LS9 putting out between 650 and 700 horsepower, that puts the Venom in contention with the Bugatti Veyron for power-to-weight bragging rights. But naturally, Hennessey isn't stopping there. After the bugs are worked out, the supercharger will be dispatched in favor of a duo of turbos, netting output somewhere north of 1,000 hp. 0-60 times? Less than 2.5 seconds. Top speed? An estimated 262 mph.<br />
<br />
Putting that grunt to the ground is a Ricardo six-speed manual gearbox - the same transmission the tuning firm used on its 1,000+ hp twin-turbocharged Ford GTs - with carbon fiber Dymag wheels fitted at all four corners, each shod in Michelin PS2 tires. Fifteen-inch carbon ceramic discs with eight piston Brembo calipers are mounted up front, while 14-inch rotors with six piston calipers reside in the rear, and <strike>although we haven't gotten confirmation, the shot above suggests the driver sits front and center.</strike> Nope, the Venom will be available in traditional left- or right-hand drive, according to Hennessey.<br />
<br />
That's all for now, but look for more details to be released in the coming weeks and get an exclusive eyeful in the gallery below.<br />

<br />
We've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">seen the pictures</a>. We've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/25/video-commencing-countdown-engine-on-for-ls9-powered-hennessey/">seen the videos</a>. Now we're finally going to see the Hennessey HPE700 Camaro in person when it makes its official debut at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/sema/">SEMA</a> next week. There's a lot to love with Hennessey's halo musclecar, starting with the LS9 V8 from the ZR1 packing 725 horsepower and 741 lb.-ft. torque (up from the initial figures, 705 and 717 respectively). Those numbers are good for a 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds, and the trip back to a complete stop takes just 104 feet thanks to 15-inch Brembo brakes. Then there's the subtle Cam-Aero carbon fiber body kit that adds a front splitter, side skirts, rear bumper, and a diffuser, with the look is finished off with a set of Hennessey's three-piece, 20-inch wheels. <br />
<br />
Expect plenty of photographs and our first person impressions when we come face to face with the HPE700 Camaro next week. Until then, check out the new high-res photos in the gallery below or read the official press release and the full specs list after the jump.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe - Click above for high-res image<br />

<br />
John Hennessey is no stranger to extracting power from already quick cars and giving them a unique appearance. More recently, Hennessey has launched a <a href="http://www.TunerSchool.com">Tuner School</a> to teach others his craft and help keep the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a> show floor populated with fresh creations.<br />
<br />
The 14-week program teaches students about engine building, turbo/supercharging and testing, and for next week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, Hennessey had his students participate in the creation of a matte black Genesis Coupe wrapped in what appears to be carbon fiber.<br />
<br />
However, the really good stuff is under the skin where Hennessey and his team of youngins boosted the Genesis' stock motor to 500 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to a single 66mm turbo, fuel system with higher flow injectors and a host of other upgrades. The car is claimed to accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and passed the quarter mile traps in 12.5 seconds. Expect more info from the show floor next week, but in the meantime, make the jump for the official details.<br />

By and large, we live in a society obsessed with numbers. How much money do you make? How big is your home? How many ounces is that piece of steak? Of course, those of us who obsessively cover the auto industry are most often concerned with numbers like top speed and peak horsepower. This being the case, we find ourselves keenly interested in the latest offering from Hennessey, which <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/15/it-fits-hennessey-successfully-shoves-zr1-ls9-into-camaro/">packs a modified LS9 V8 engine</a> - more commonly found in the engine bay of the amazing Corvette ZR1 - in the new 2010 Chevy Camaro.<br />
<br />
So, wanna know how much power the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">Hennessey HPE700</a> is packing? Of course you do. How about 645 rear-wheel horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque? Yeah, that'll do nicely. These are the initial figures recorded on the HPE700's first dyno pull and were achieved with 14.5 psi of boost from the supercharger and 93 octane pump gas. Also, take special note of the dyno graph, which shows a squiggly line that isn't so much a torque <em>peak</em> as it is a torque <em>plateau</em>. Nice. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/22/video-ls9-powered-2010-camaro-ss-by-hennessey-gets-its-first-dy/">Click past the break</a> to watch the video.<br />

<br /> At the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/15/monterey-2009-the-quail-a-motorsports-gathering/">Quail Motorsports Gathering</a> in Monterey, CA we happened to run into a Mr. John Hennessey admiring the same Lamborghini LP670-4 SV we were drooling over. With the Venom GT set to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/12/hennessey-venom-gt-to-debut-at-2010-geneva-motor-show/">debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show</a>, we asked how the project was going. He promptly produced an iPhone and gave us a sneak preview of dozens of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) renderings. At the time, we had no way to show you the photos, but John was kind enough to send a few our way. <br /> <br /> As you can see by the renderings, the Venom GT features an adjustable rear wing that also acts as an air brake. We were informed that the Venom GT should be capable of 1.5 negative g's under braking, and that with the carbon ceramic brakes it will be able to stop from 200 mph in seven seconds flat. <br /> <br /> We also learned the Venom GT is actually based on a stretched Lotus Exige chassis, making sense of the visual similarities between the two cars. Hennessey told us that he wanted to keep the car as light as possible, and the Exige was the best platform available to help him achieve that goal. The switch from the Viper V10 to the LS9 V8 was done for the same reason, and John liked the idea of an American V8 in an English car -- the same formula that was so successful for Carroll Shelby back in the 1960s. Expect more details to be revealed in the run-up to the Venom's Geneva unveiling, but until then, check out the high-res gallery of CFD renderings below. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-venom-gt-cfd-renderings/low/">Hennessey Venom GT CFD renderings</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-venom-gt-cfd-renderings/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/venom-cooling-slines-02-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-venom-gt-cfd-renderings/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/venom-cooling-slines-06-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-venom-gt-cfd-renderings/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/venom-cooling-slines-03-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-venom-gt-cfd-renderings/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/venom-cpt-slice-01-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/exclusive-hennessey-shows-off-cfd-drawings-of-venom-gt-supercar/">Exclusive: Hennessey shows off CFD drawings of Venom GT supercar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 19:58:00 EST. <br />
It's been two long years since <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/19/hennessey-releases-details-on-venom-gt/">John Hennessey announced plans to build his very own supercar</a>, and we were beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. Apparently, Hennessey's plans are still a go as the Texas tuner just announced through its newsletter that the Venom GT will make its official public debut at the 2010 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in March. <br />
<br />
Since the initial press release, Hennessey has made a few changes to the car's proposed specs. Listed curb weight has dropped from 2700 to 2400 lbs and the engine is now a "Hennessey V8" rather than a twin-turbo Viper V10. Power rating is "up to 1,200 bhp" rather than the initially stated 1,000 and top speed has been listed as 272 mph. No matter what the final specifications, it sounds like the Venom GT will be sure to impress. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"><small>2010 Hennessey Z700 - Click above for high-res images</small></span><br /></div>
<br /><a href="http://hennesseyperformancestore.com/">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a> makes the point that track-oriented Porsche owners can opt up from a normal 911 to a GT3 RS and Viper owners can choose the ACR edition, so what's out there for ZR1 owners who want a more hardcore machine? To answer that question, HPE has introduced the <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformancestore.com/zrcozr1.html">Z700</a> for 2010. <br /><br />The exclusive new model features a number of enhancements that go beyond the requisite power increase, which in this case jumps from 638 to 705 dyno-tuned hp. HPE has also put the ZR1 on a diet, shedding pounds by adding lightweight carbon fiber seats and carbon fiber wheels wrapped in a Michilin Pilot Cup Sport tires. The wheels alone scrub off 60 lbs. of rotating weight. Aero enhancements include Hennessey's Z-Aero carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler, all of which add 300 lbs. of downforce. Finally, an alcantara steering wheel and shift knob should feel better in the hand when barnstorming the track.<br /><br />Hennessey plans to prove that the Z700 is a big improvement over the ZR1 by taking direct aim at the standard car's N&uuml;rburgring lap time of 7:26. They'll be flying to Germany with a Z700 later this year to take their best shot, but considering that HPE is perhaps the only only tuning company with its very own on-site track, Lonestar Motorsports Park, we expect good results. <br /><br />Only 24 examples will be produced, and customers who order a Z700 also get a one-day performance driving instruction course at Lonestar Motorsports Park. Total cost for a base Z700 will start at $207,150, which also includes the cost of a donor ZR1. That's nearly a six-figure increase over the base price of a ZR1, so we'll have to wait until it sets some lap times to see if it's worth it.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/low/">Hennessey Z700</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/zr1_front_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/zr1_rear_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformancestore.com/zrcozr1.html">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/06/2010-hennessey-z700-unveiled-for-track-happy-zr1-owners/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2010 Hennessey Z700 unveiled for track-happy ZR1 owners</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/06/2010-hennessey-z700-unveiled-for-track-happy-zr1-owners/">2010 Hennessey Z700 unveiled for track-happy ZR1 owners</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Jul 2009 11:29:00 EST. <br />Normally the twisting of an ignition key doesn't constitute news here at Autoblog, but this is one of the few exceptions. Back in January, Hennessey Performance announced the HPE700, a concoction born from the combination of an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">LS9 supercharged V8 from a ZR1 and a 2010 Camaro</a>. The Texas-based company only recently <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/15/it-fits-hennessey-successfully-shoves-zr1-ls9-into-camaro/">shoe-horned the engine into the engine bay</a>. A video camera was on when it was finally time to start the newly created monster, and the sound is nothing short of amazing. The result of open headers plus what appears to be a fairly aggressive cam makes for a sound that has the hairs on the backs of our necks standing on end. Have a listen for yourself by watching the video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/25/video-commencing-countdown-engine-on-for-ls9-powered-hennessey/">after the jump</a>. <em>Thanks for the tip, Brian!</em><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/">Hennessey Camaro HPE700</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/hpe700camaropa_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/hpe700camaropa_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/hpe700camaropa_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/hpe700camaropa_09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-ls9-camaro/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/10/hpe700camaropa_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv2yFzx9DTk">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/25/video-commencing-countdown-engine-on-for-ls9-powered-hennessey/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Commencing countdown, engine on for LS9-powered Hennessey HPE700</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/25/video-commencing-countdown-engine-on-for-ls9-powered-hennessey/">VIDEO: Commencing countdown, engine on for LS9-powered Hennessey HPE700</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 25 Jun 2009 14:57:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Hennessey Performance HPE700 - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Hennessey Performance has successfully completed the most crucial step in developing its ZR1-powered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">HPE700</a>: Getting the Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor to fit in the engine bay of the new Camaro. John Hennessey just sent over these images that show the before and after, and from the look of things, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 fits nicely. <br /><br />The engine cover that's visible through a polycarbonate window on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/11/review-2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1-goes-to-hell-and-back/">Corvette ZR1</a> lines up nicely against the Camaro's firewall and it appears there's still some room left in front of the engine. While the LS9 normally produces 638 hp in the ZR1, as its name suggests, the Hennessey HPE700 will be shooting for over 700 horsepower. Only 24 examples will be produced and Hennessey has already sold 11. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Hennessey Camaro #001: Click above for a high-res gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Hennessey has some interesting plans for the 2010 Camaro, including the supercharged, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/562-hp-hennessey-camaro-hpe550-is-the-z28-that-never-was/">562 horsepower HPE550</a>. The aftermarket powerhouse has already taken delivery on its first 2010 model, an Inferno Orange SS model with a six-speed manual and 426 hp at its beck and call. Wait, make that 446, as Hennessey engineers have already tweaked the LS3 V8 to provide an additional 20 ponies. <br /><br />Barely a day into Hennessey's ownership of the bow tie pony car, it was already at the track and ready to play. Hennessey took to the quarter mile with 6.2-liters of small block fury, and exited with a reasonably 13.6 @ 108 mph. The Camaro's 60 time was also registered at 5.2 seconds, even with an absolutely pedestrian jump out of the gates. Hennessey also mentions that they didn't even bother to let a bit of air out of the tires to increase the time, and we're guessing the time can be cut down considerably with a little practice. Hennessey is hoping to bring the HPE550 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, with a 11.9 second run in the quarter mile. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/23/video-hennessey-gets-its-first-camaro-heads-straight-to-drag-s/"></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/24/video-hennessey-gets-its-first-camaro-heads-straight-to-drag-s/">Hit the jump</a> to check out Hennessey Camaro #001 for yourself. You'll see a nice-looking burnout to warm up the massive SS tires, followed by the glorious symphony that emanates from the tried-and-true small block Chevy V8. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-camaro-001/low/">Hennessey Camaro #001</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-camaro-001/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_7197_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-camaro-001/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_7170_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-camaro-001/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_7204_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-camaro-001/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/img_7226_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/24/video-hennessey-gets-its-first-camaro-heads-straight-to-drag-s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Hennessey gets its first Camaro, heads straight to drag strip</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/24/video-hennessey-gets-its-first-camaro-heads-straight-to-drag-s/">VIDEO: Hennessey gets its first Camaro, heads straight to drag strip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 24 Apr 2009 11:30:00 EST. <br />You name it and John Hennessey will make it faster. From Vipers to Vettes to Challengers, Hennessey Performance will take competent sports cars and make them into tire-shredding speed demons with more horsepower than any street-going vehicle should ever logically have. The latest creation to come from the Texas tuner is the GTR700 based on the Nissan GT-R. The upgraded Godzilla now sports 715 horsepower and 662 lb-ft torque thanks to numerous modifications including a stainless steel exhaust system, new ECU programming, modified turbos with larger compressor wheels, 100mm cold air intake, high-flow fuel injectors, transmission cooler, clutch pack upgrades, and more. The result is stupefying. Sixty mph comes up in just 2.8 seconds, 100 mph in 6.7 seconds and 150 mph in 14.5 seconds. Compared to a stock GT-R, the GTR700 reaches 186 mph in less than half the time. Someone needs to take this thing to the Nurburgring. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/video-hennessey-gtr700-rips-2-8s-0-60-with-launch-control-off/">Hit the jump</a> to watch the Hennessey GTR700 hit a full 1.0g during acceleration on its way to a 10.87 sec @ 132 mph quarter mile run.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-gtr700/low/">Hennessey GTR700</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-gtr700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/002_gtr700_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-gtr700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/001_gtr700_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-gtr700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/003_gtr700_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-gtr700/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/000_gtr700_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/video-hennessey-gtr700-rips-2-8s-0-60-with-launch-control-off/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Hennessey GTR700 rips 2.8s 0-60 with launch control off</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/video-hennessey-gtr700-rips-2-8s-0-60-with-launch-control-off/">VIDEO: Hennessey GTR700 rips 2.8s 0-60 with launch control off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 10:30:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/20/report-chevrolets-camaro-convertible-delayed-z28-facing-cance/">Chevrolet Camaro Z28 may be stuck on an indefinite holding pattern</a>, but Hennessey Performance is one of the first aftermarket firms to step up and fill the void between the base SS and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">Henessey's own 705-hp, ZR1-powered Camaro HPE700</a>.<br /><br />The Camaro HPE550 begins life as a standard SS model, and with the help of a Magnuson supercharger and a Corsa exhaust, the blown LS3 puts out 562 hp at 6,200 rpm and 557 lb-ft of torque beginning at 4,200 rpm. Hennessey is claiming a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds (down from five seconds on the standard model) and a quarter mile pass of 11.9 seconds at 119 mph.<br /><br />The entire HPE550 package, which also includes high-flow fuel injectors, an aero package and aluminum wheels, will set you back $24,950 plus shipping uninstalled, or $31,000 installed, not including the cost of the donor car. If that's not enough, you can send your new SS to Hennessey for the aforementioned HPE700 package, or go completely nuts with either the 850 hp or 1,000 hp twin turbo setup that will set you back $54,500 or $59,500, respectively - again, not including the cost of the stock Camaro SS. All the details are in the press release below the fold.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/562-hp-hennessey-camaro-hpe550-is-the-z28-that-never-was/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>562 hp Hennessey Camaro HPE550 is the Z28 that never was</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/562-hp-hennessey-camaro-hpe550-is-the-z28-that-never-was/">562 hp Hennessey Camaro HPE550 is the Z28 that never was</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Apr 2009 15:19:00 EST. Development of the "ZR1 and then some"-powered Camaro is well underway, and John Hennessey of <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a> just sent us this video of the HPE700 powertrain being manhandled by the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/gm-performance-guru-john-heinricy-retires/">recently retired John Heinricy</a> on a track in Texas. For now, the 705-horsepower LS9 engine tuned by HPE is living in its native home beneath the hood of a yellow ZR1. In the hands of Heinricy, it propels he and the car up to 145 mph on one of the back straights at <a href="http://www.msrhouston.com">MSR Houston</a>. The engine sound is sonorous and quite unlike what we're used to hearing from a Corvette, which means it should sound downright alien in the Camaro. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/25/video-want-to-hear-what-hennesseys-zr1-powered-camaro-will-sou/">Follow the jump</a> to watch the video and hear what we mean.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89pGeGPcs0k">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/25/video-want-to-hear-what-hennesseys-zr1-powered-camaro-will-sou/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Want to hear what Hennessey's ZR1-powered Camaro will sound like?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/25/video-want-to-hear-what-hennesseys-zr1-powered-camaro-will-sou/">VIDEO: Want to hear what Hennessey's ZR1-powered Camaro will sound like?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 14:56:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Charles, one of our eagle-eyed readers, came across <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/ListItems.php?cart=wIuyfuUp&amp;DoThis=Ford+Taurus+SHO+(2010)&amp;ActionReq=Where">this page on the Hennessey website</a> announcing plans to offer upgrades for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2010FordTaurusSHO/">2010 Ford Taurus SHO</a>. A quick email and a subsequent phone call from Mr. Hennessey himself confirmed that the power-obsessed tuner is hoping to exploit the new SHO's potential later this year.<br /><br />John, a former first-gen SHO owner himself, was impressed with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/11/officially-official-2010-ford-taurus-sho/">new SHO's specs when it was revealed last week</a>, and the hope is that enthusiasts will start looking for modifications once sales begin later this year. At the onset, expect intake and exhaust mods, followed by a boost controller, turbo and intercooler upgrades and possibly some suspension tweaks. <br /><br />Since Ford is primarily marketing its line of EcoBoost engines towards fuel-conscious consumers, there's little doubt that the automaker left something on the table. We're sure tuners are ready to take up the challenge, and it looks like John and his team will be at the forefront.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/">2010 Ford Taurus SHO</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/0000_2010taurussho000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/0000_2010taurussho001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/0000_2010taurussho002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/0000_2010taurussho003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-ford-taurus-sho-chic09/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/0000_2010taurussho004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/16/hennessey-ready-to-tap-2010-ford-taurus-shos-potential/">Hennessey Performance ready to tap 2010 Ford Taurus SHO's potential</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 16 Feb 2009 19:31:00 EST. <br />Not satisfied with the 638 horsepower on tap in your <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/autoblog-first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/">Chevrolet Corvette ZR1</a>? Hennessey Performance has the solution. They've come up with a tuning package that includes a smaller supercharger pulley that increases boost from 11 to 14 psi, an upgraded intercooler, K&amp;N intake, stainless steel headers, high-flow catalytic converters, and a reprogrammed engine management system that pushes output past the 700-horsepower mark. If that still doesn't meet your needs, Hennessey can keep the upgrades coming with high-flow cylinder heads and a more aggressive camshaft that puts the ZR1 at 755 hp. Hennessey's website says that 1000 hp is attainable, and we're guessing it involves a pair of turbochargers. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/hennessey-unveils-705-hp-corvette-zr700-upgrade/">Follow the jump </a>to watch a video of the Hennessey ZR700 knock out an 11.03 second quarter-mile with relative ease. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennesseyperformance/ItemDetail.php?Item_ID=330&amp;cart=wWsYMfyL&amp;DoThis=Chevrolet+Corvette+ZR1+%282009%29&amp;ActionReq=Where">Hennessey Performance</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/hennessey-unveils-705-hp-corvette-zr700-upgrade/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hennessey unveils 705 HP Corvette ZR700 upgrade</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/hennessey-unveils-705-hp-corvette-zr700-upgrade/">Hennessey unveils 705 HP Corvette ZR700 upgrade</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 10:58:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above to enlarge the Henessey HPE700 Camaro</small></strong></em> <br /><br />
<div align="left">Following in the footsteps of such legendary Camaro tuners as Yenko Chevrolet, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hennessey">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a> has unveiled the HPE700, which mates a standard 2010 Camaro SS with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=ls9&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">supercharged </a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/search/?q=ls9&amp;invocationType=wl-auto&amp;searchsubmit=">LS9 V8</a> from the Corvette ZR1. As if that engine alone weren't enough, HPE has tuned the LS9 to produce 705 hp and 717 lb-ft torque. That should make for an awesome pavement pounder in the quarter-mile, or else a neat way to scorch the earth and create mushroom clouds of tire smoke.<br /><br />Other performance goodies include 15-inch carbon ceramic brakes cribbed from the ZR1, upgraded suspension bits and HRE alloy rims shod with Michelin PS2 rubber. HPE chose not to leave well enough alone in the looks department, either. The HPE700 has inherited the controversial see-through hood from the ZR1, along with a body package that includes a full carbon fiber ground effects kit and a unique front fascia with faux-hideaway headlights and a billet aluminum grille. We like it, you may not. <br /><br />The HPE700 is a lot of car, and to help drivers reign it in, a 1-day performance driving course is included in the asking price of $109,500. The first orders will be accepted next week to registered bidders at the Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ with regular orders being taken the following week. That still won't be enough for a lot of people (especially folks who want to win <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/03/video-drag-race-between-zr1-599-gt-r-and-gt2/">seriously competitive drag races</a>), so Hennessey is offering GT-R upgrades that beef Godzilla up to 600 hp. The seven mods in the kit don't do anything crazy to the car -- items like stainless steel turbo downpipes and a wastegate actuator upgrade -- they simply combine to add 120 hp to the corral already on hand. As far as we're concerned, we'd take that over a 520 hp V Spec any day... we can rip out the rear seats ourselves.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/ListItems.php?cart=tNlJwTcV&amp;DoThis=Nissan+GTR+(2009)&amp;ActionReq=Where">Hennessey</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/hennessey-offers-600-hp-tuning-package-for-nissan-gt-r/">Hennessey offers 600 hp tuning package for Nissan GT-R</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 15 Dec 2008 19:01:00 EST. </small> <br />Hennessey is perhaps more closely associated with Dodge Vipers to most people, but they also do work on Ford's late, great supercar, the Ford GT, too. What Hennessey does with the GT is sort of up to you. One option they can do is a swap, wherein the factory supercharger is removed and a pair of turbos are fitted. With additional modifications, that car can reach more than 235 mph. If it strikes you as a sacrilegious thing to do to a rare factory-supercharged car, you can keep your blower and simply add the twin turbos as well. They call that one the Ford GT1000 for the metric tonne of horsepower it produces. It can squirt from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and cover the quarter in 10.6 on its way past 240 mph. The company had one of each on hand at SEMA this year in front of the duPont Registry trailer. Decisions, decisions. We'll take one of each.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey Ford GTs</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-hennessey-ford-gts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/hennesseygts---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/09/sema-2008-hennessey-shows-a-pair-of-turbocharged-ford-gts/">SEMA 2008: Hennessey shows a pair of turbocharged Ford GTs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Nov 2008 18:34:00 EST. <p>As if 1000 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 2.25 seconds and the huge rear wing didn't attract enough attention. It just had to be in Snake Skin Green. According to Hennessey, this is the first and only Venom Twin-Turbo in this color, and it's listed for sale on <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennesseyperformance/ItemDetail.php?Item_ID=238&amp;cart=uCjiImlb&amp;DoThis=Vehicles+For+Sale&amp;ActionReq=Where">HennesseyPerformance.com</a>. It comes with the 1200-horsepower upgrade option, VenomAero body kit, KW adjustable coilover suspension, Brembo brakes, lightweight wheels, and more. The car's new owner will also be able to make Bugatti Veyron owners <em>green</em> with envy as they see this Viper's taillights fading into the distance.
