<br />
Car enthusiasts, rejoice! Our beloved racecar in the evergreen Hasbro board game Monopoly has been saved. The Monopoly-loving world has spoken, and the newest game piece is... a cat. In a democratic move, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/11/cast-your-vote-to-save-the-monopoly-racecar/">Hasbro let the Internet decide</a> which token would be kicked off the game board, and, in the end, it was the lowly iron that will now get locked away in the Monopoly vault. Bye-bye iron, hello kitty.<br />
<br />
The boot and the wheelbarrow were close to getting canned as well, while the dog and racecar were the two most popular pieces in the voting. As for the new piece, the cat was chosen over other possibilities including a helicopter, guitar, robot and diamond ring.<br />

<br />
One of the reasons for Monopoly's nearly 80-year reign, and its hundreds of millions of copies sold, especially in the last few decades, has been game maker's willingness to heavy-up on the special editions. And, the occasional <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2006/09/13/new-monopoly-game-board-features-toyota-prius/">inclusion of a Prius token</a> notwithstanding, the iconic racecar playing piece has been all that we motoring enthusiasts have had to get us fired up about the game. You know, other than naked capitalism and low-level fraud. (What? Like you never slid a few extra hundred under your side of the board...)<br />
<br />
Now, in another attempt to spice up the old girl, the makers of Monopoly are threatening to lock up one of the classic tokens... forever. That means that either the Scottie dog, top hat, thimble, battleship, wheelbarrow, iron, shoe or the ever-loveable racecar is going to be stripped from the gaming icon. Replacing the lost token will be one of the following hollow imposters: a diamond ring, a guitar, a toy robot, a cat or a helicopter.<br />
<br />
Monopoly is putting the choice of both banished and replacement tokens up to its fans, and allowing for votes to be cast on <a href="https://apps.facebook.com/saveyourtoken/?c=2">the game's Facebook page</a>. Obviously, it's our duty as car nuts, one and all, to vote for to support for ol' Racy himself. Follow your heart.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/11/cast-your-vote-to-save-the-monopoly-racecar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cast your vote to save the Monopoly racecar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/11/cast-your-vote-to-save-the-monopoly-racecar/">Cast your vote to save the Monopoly racecar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 11 Jan 2013 19:15:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><small><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen - click above for high-res gallery</span></small></div>
<br /> We may have found this summer's blockbuster, <em>Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</em> to be <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-great-action-even-worse-sto/">heavy on the sizzle and lean on the meat</a>, but that doesn't mean we've written off the series - after all, it's hard to dismiss excellent CG work, the childhood toys of our youth... to say nothing of that siren Megan Fox. <br /> <br /> Thankfully, director Michael Bay informs us via his official website that the next installment is already in the works, and it's been assigned a release date - July 1 of 2011. That's a long time from now, granted, but Bay intimates in his blog post that Megan Fox has already signed on for the TF3 project, and hopefully Shia LaBeouf will make the scene too. Bay is already meeting with Hasbro to discuss new characters, so we'd expect a few new transforming automobiles to show up as well. <br /> <br /> Here's hoping that they have enough time to craft a script that lives up to the special effects. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen">Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-2-revenge-of-the-fallen/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/tf2screenshots004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.michaelbay.com/newsblog/files/a2bd79bb4c222b807e27707aaf1497e6-570.html">MichaelBay.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/02/mark-your-calendars-michael-bay-says-i-transformers-3-i-comi/">Mark Your Calendars: Michael Bay says <i>Transformers 3</i> coming... on July 1, 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 02 Oct 2009 17:29:00 EST. It's entirely different to produce a toy that actually does transform with moving parts that have to work together in total harmony. HASBRO is in charge of producing the full gamet of Transformers toys this time around and has a website up that shows us exactly how Optimus Prime will go from big rig to big robot. Click <a href="http://www.3dtransformers.com/">here</a>, skip the intro and, unless you have a pair of cardboard 3D glasses handy, click on the 2D link. Here you'll find animations that show how Optimus Prime, Scorponok, Ratchet and Ironhide will actually transform when pulled from their plastic packaging. <br /><br />The site also has 360 degree views of each Transformer toy, as well as some extra items like a wearable Optimus Prime helmet. Our search for a Halloween costume this year is officially over. <br /><br />[Source: 3Dtransformers.com via <a href="http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=134284">tfw2005</a>]<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars">Transformers Movie Pics</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-live-action-cars/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/maxim_transformers_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/21/watch-the-transformers-toys-transform/">Watch the Transformers toys transform</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 21 May 2007 15:31:00 EST. Regular readers know that we're really pumped up for this and since Toy Fair 2007 is underway in New York this week, Hasbro has provided some new imagery of the <em>TF</em> toys they're releasing in conjunction with the film. Check out the gallery to see full shots of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in both robot and vehicle modes, as well as a shot of Optimus Prime in his retail packaging.
