<br />
The editorial director of <em>EVO</em>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/harry+metcalfe/">Harry Metcalfe</a>, was at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/">Lamborghini</a> anniversary gala that saw the launch of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/05/12/lamborghini-egoista-concept-supercar/">Egoista concept car</a>, and tweeted this bit of news on the Urus: "Lamborghini confirms Urus SUV for 2017 production at tonight's #Lambo50 gala dinner." The Urus, you'll remember, was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/23/lamborghini-urus-stomps-onto-the-stage-in-china-w-video/">the concept SUV revealed</a> at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/beijing-motor-show/">Beijing Motor Show</a> last year and branded "the first Lamborghini for everyday use" by company CEO Stephan Winkelmann. But that would only be if it were produced, and as of December last year it still hadn't been given the green light - even though <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/28/lamborghini-develops-urus-while-awaiting-green-light/">development had continued</a>.<br />
<br />
This year, though, a couple of things have happened to convince some that it's probably on its way. There were <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/17/chinese-patent-filing-may-mean-lamborghini-urus-closer-to-produc/">patents filed in China</a> in February, and in March <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/">Audi</a> CEO <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/lamborghini-urus-suv-set-2016-debut">Rupert Stadler told <em>Autocar </em></a>"Lamborghini has to do it. Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017." And since Audi is the official owner of Lamborghini, one would think the CEO knows what he's talking about when he says Lamborghini "has" to do something.<br />
<br />
It's predicted that the showroom version will appear in 2016 as a 2017 model, accounting for the time it will take to develop and Stadler's 'production cycle' comment, referring to a slot in the refresh timetable for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/q7/">Audi Q7</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne/">Porsche Cayenne</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen/touareg/">Volkswagen Touareg</a> with which the Urus will share its MQB platform. A <a href="http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2017-lamborghini-urus-25-cars-worth-waiting-for-20142017-future-cars">report in <em>Car and Driver</em></a> says the Sant' Agata company will also be looking for the Urus to bolster its sales in China and its coffers in Italy, and cost between $150,000 and $200,000.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/05/12/lamborghini-reportedly-confirms-urus-for-production-in-2017/">Lamborghini reportedly confirms Urus for production in 2017</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 12 May 2013 14:59:00 EST. <br />
<em>EVO</em>'s Harry Metcalfe had some questions about the day-to-day livability of the <a href="http://autoblog.com/ferrari/ff">Ferrari FF</a>. When he brought those questions up to <a href="http://autoblog.com/ferrari">Ferrari</a>, they suggested he take one for a couple of weeks and try it out for, as he calls them, "mundane duties." The image above is Metcalfe pointing to the 660-horsepower, all-wheel drive FF parked in one of his fields because, since he lives on a farm, mucking about the green is part of his daily routine. "It could use more ground clearance," he says, "but that's an option on this car."<br />
<br />
He does get it on the "tarmac" and he likes it even more there than in the mud. Except for the buttons on the steering wheel; he thinks learning to use them is like learning to play guitar. He has a lot more to say besides that, and you can watch him expound for all of 17 minutes in the video <a href="/2013/01/25/two-weeks-and-2-000-miles-in-ferraris-ff-with-evo/#continued">below</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/28/two-weeks-and-2-000-miles-in-ferraris-ff-with-evo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two weeks and 2,000 miles in Ferrari's FF with <i>Evo</i></em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/28/two-weeks-and-2-000-miles-in-ferraris-ff-with-evo/">Two weeks and 2,000 miles in Ferrari's FF with <i>Evo</i></a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 28 Jan 2013 19:58:00 EST. <br />
Most of the noise over the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/infiniti+fx+sebastian+vettel+version/">Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version</a> has centered around <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/11/infiniti-prices-sebastian-vettel-edition-fx-at-155k/">its &euro;120,000 ($155,000 U.S.) price</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/07/03/infiniti-fx-sebastian-vettel-version-sounds-insane/">its exhaust noise</a>. <em>Evo</em> <em>Magazine</em> editor Harry Metcalfe quiets things down with a soup-to-nuts look at where the extra money has been spent on this Vettel-fied <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/">Infiniti</a> crossover (in the UK it costs &pound;105,600 on-the-road, nearly doubling the price of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/infiniti/fx/">FX50</a> it is bred from).<br />
<br />
There's lot of detail: the aero mods were guided by Vettel's desire for his tribute FX to hit 300 kilometers per hour, the carbon fiber is manufactured by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/brabus">Brabus</a>, the additional rear spoiler adds &pound;4,800 ($7,650) to the already hefty &pound;100,800 base price ($168k!), each alloy is 4.6 kilograms lighter than a standard wheel but hides standard brakes, and so on. All of that is followed by a question: "Can I say it's &pound;50,000 better?" You'll find the $80,000 answer in the video <a href="/2012/10/23/evo-finds-the-measure-of-infinitis-limited-edition-fx-ve/#continued">below</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/10/23/evo-finds-the-measure-of-infinitis-limited-edition-fx-ve/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em><i>Evo</i> finds the measure of Infiniti's limited-edition FX Vettel Version</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/10/23/evo-finds-the-measure-of-infinitis-limited-edition-fx-ve/"><i>Evo</i> finds the measure of Infiniti's limited-edition FX Vettel Version</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2012 15:00:00 EST. <br />
When <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/evo/"><em>Evo</em></a> magazine's founder and Editorial Director Harry Metcalfe says a machine is "the most amazing vehicle you've ever seen," you know you're in for a treat. After all, Metcalfe has been at the head of the British magazine since its first issue in 1998 and has owned or driven nearly every vehicle you can imagine.<br />
<br />
The amazing machine that's netted such admiration from Metcalfe? The Scamander, a truly all-terrain vehicle designed and built by Peter Wheeler, the man who owned British boutique automaker <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/tvr">TVR</a> for 23 years. With its 300-horsepower V6 engine, the Scamander is reportedly capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in about eight seconds and can hit a top speed of 120 mph.<br />
<br />
On land, that is...<br />
<br />
You see, there's also a impeller out back, meaning this crazy floating contraption can also take to the water. Sadly, Wheeler died before seeing this project to completion, but his wife and a team of engineers made sure that the Scamander finally saw the light of day in fully finished form. <a href="/2012/05/25/scamander-is-the-go-anywhere-swim-across-anything-rv-from-engla/#continued">Scroll down below</a> to see Metcalfe take the Scamander over land and sea.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/25/scamander-is-the-go-anywhere-swim-across-anything-rv-from-engla/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Scamander is the go-anywhere, swim-across-anything RV from England</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/25/scamander-is-the-go-anywhere-swim-across-anything-rv-from-engla/">Scamander is the go-anywhere, swim-across-anything RV from England</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 May 2012 19:59:00 EST. <br />
<em>Evo</em> founder Harry Metcalfe somehow convinced <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/pagani">Pagani</a> to let him take the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/12/zonda-760-rs-is-the-most-powerful-pagani-yet/">Zonda 760 RS</a> for a spin, and the result is just another day in the life of an <em>Evo</em> editorial director. The 760-horsepower customer special is, according to Metcalfe, for those who aren't happy with the 'regular' <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/zonda">Zonda</a>'s 650 horsepower and really want a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/pagani+zonda+r">Zonda R</a> for the road... plus 20 more horses.<br />
<br />
We'd tell you more, but you really should get straight into the video. The details on the 760 RS are fantastic, but the engine note is, how you say, <em>stupefecante</em>. <a href="/2012/04/27/visit-paganis-factory-and-drive-the-zonda-760rs-with-evo/#continued">Scroll down</a> to enjoy.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/27/visit-paganis-factory-and-drive-the-zonda-760rs-with-evo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Visit Pagani's factory and drive the Zonda 760RS with <i>EVO</i></em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/27/visit-paganis-factory-and-drive-the-zonda-760rs-with-evo/">Visit Pagani's factory and drive the Zonda 760RS with <i>EVO</i></a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 27 Apr 2012 15:29:00 EST. <br />
Everyone has their ultimate vehicle wish list, and ours is littered with a smattering of models both obscure and asinine. One of the more mainstream sweethearts is the original <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/lotus%20elan/">Lotus Elan</a>. Collin Chapman's wonderchild remains an impressive performer even today, thanks to its feathery curb weight and the impressive performance on hand. As you may recall, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/evo magazine"><em>EVO</em><em> Magazine</em></a> pitted editorial director Harry Metcalfe's 1972 Elan Sprint against vehicles like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/toyota mr-2">Toyota MR-2</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mazda/mx-5+miata/">Mazda Miata</a> back in the early 2000s. Metcalfe still has his tiny yellow convertible and was kind enough to bring a camera along for the roadster's first run of the spring season.<br />
<br />
Weighing in at around 1,500 pounds and packing a surprising 126 horsepower, Metcalfe says the car is still good for sprints to 60 mph in a tick past six seconds. Unburdened by pesky life-saving hardware like crumple zones, steel reinforcements, airbags or any electronic nannies, the plucky little fiberglass creation is also a pretty smart handler even though the model is now officially 50 years old. <a href="/2012/04/13/evo-takes-a-closer-look-at-harry-metcalfes-1972-lotus-el/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to check out the video for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/13/evo-takes-a-closer-look-at-harry-metcalfes-1972-lotus-el/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em><i>EVO</i> takes a closer look at Harry Metcalfe's 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/13/evo-takes-a-closer-look-at-harry-metcalfes-1972-lotus-el/"><i>EVO</i> takes a closer look at Harry Metcalfe's 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:58:00 EST.
