<br />
This certainly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/07/lexus-execs-spills-the-beans-gs-f-model-1-series-fighter-hybr/">isn't the first time</a> we've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/rendered-speculation-lexus-gs-f/">heard rumblings</a> about <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/lexus">Lexus</a> working on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/02/enter-the-rumor-mill-is-lexus-working-on-a-gs-f/">performance version</a> of its <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/gs">GS</a> sedan. The crew at <em>Road &amp; Track</em> reports that the upcoming <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/gs-f">GS-F</a> will serve as the range-topping trim in the GS model range, set apart from its siblings with not only a more aggressive appearance, but a serious increase in power, to boot.<br />
<br />
Sources within <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/toyota">Toyota</a> have told the buff book that the GS-F will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8, just like the smaller <a href="http://autoblog.com/lexus/is+f">IS-F</a>, but that output will be increased to 465 horsepower for the larger sedan. The other key ingredient to making the GS-F a serious performer is a substantial reduction in weight. Through the use of aluminum and carbon fiber components, Toyota aims to have the GS-F weigh in at about 3,700 pounds, meaning it should be capable of ripping off 4.5-second 0-60 times.<br />
<br />
Toyota is positioning the GS-F to compete with the likes of the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/m5">BMW M5</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/e63+amg">Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG</a>, with prices to start somewhere around the $90,000 to $100,000 range. No official timeframe has been given on when we'll actually see the GS-F, but <em>R&amp;T</em> states that it could show up as early as 2012, after the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/05/spy-shots-next-gen-lexus-gs-mule-caught-testing/">refreshed GS range</a> debuts.<br />

The supercar's 10-pot wonder is "bespoke to LFA," which is ur-English for something custom made, but in this case we'll take to mean "None of you can have this engine if you don't drive an LFA."<br /> <br /> You'll note that the 106-character tweet deftly avoids confirming the existence of any sort of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/rendered-speculation-lexus-gs-f/">GS F</a> in the first place - a car that has existed solely as a fairytale for nigh on three years - with the deflection, "not going to comment on those." But at least now if the GS F <em>does</em> come, we know what it <em>won't</em> have. But hey, they didn't rule out a derivative, right? <em>Hat tip to Stan!</em><br /> <br /> [Source: Lexus Europe Comm via <a href="http://twitter.com/Lexus_Europe/statuses/7189614795">Twitter]<br /></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/30/from-the-twitterverse-lexus-of-europe-says-lfa-v10-is-bespok/">From the Twitterverse: Lexus of Europe says LFA V10 is <i>bespoke</i>, not headed for GS F</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 Dec 2009 16:29:00 EST. Both models are aimed to attack luxury stalwarts Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz by offering a number of high-performance variants and also developing a new model that would slot in below the IS sedan to take on the BMW 1-series and the Audi A3. That model is still a few years away, but it will be an integral part of Lexus' commitment to reach one million global sales in the next two to three years.<br /><br />The other element includes offering hybrid versions of every vehicle it sells, plus the introduction of a hybrid-only model that will be unveiled in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/26/detroit-09-preview-lexus-branded-prius-to-debut/">concept form</a> this <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/16/lexus-to-unveil-first-hybrid-only-model-at-detroit-09/">January at the Detroit Auto Show</a>. Toyota's luxury arm plans to release a redesigned five-seater RX next year, based off the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/23/tokyo-auto-show-2007-lexus-lf-xh/">LF-Xh concept</a> that bowed in Tokyo, although there's no word on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/15/7-seat-lexus-rx-on-its-way/">rumored seven-seat variant</a> due out before the end of the decade.<br /><br />Naturally, no conversation about Lexus would be complete without some mention of a two-door, coupe/convertible version of the IS, a model that's been sorely lacking from the Lexus lineup, plus, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/leakage-lexus-lf-a-convertible/">LF-A</a> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/01/09/detroit-auto-show-lexus-lf-a/">supercar</a>, which should finally come to market in 2011, but may only be available in left-hand drive.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept">Lexus LF-Xh concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/lexus_lf-xh_live_13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/lexus_lf-xh_live_14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/lexus_lf-xh_live_15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/lexus_lf-xh_live_16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-xh-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/lexus_lf-xh_live_17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible">Lexus LF-A Roadster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/11_lf_a_roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/46_lf_a_roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/16_lf_a_roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/01_lf_a_roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-convertible/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/12_lf_a_roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept">Lexus LF-A Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lexus-lf-a---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lexus-lf-a---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lexus-lf-a---21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lexus-lf-a---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-a-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lexus-lf-a---12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23484754-13232,00.html">The Australian</a> via <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/lexus/lexus-exec-confirms-gs-f-and-entry-level-models/">Motor Authority</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/07/lexus-execs-spills-the-beans-gs-f-model-1-series-fighter-hybr/">Lexus execs spills the beans: GS F model, 1-series fighter, hybrid galore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 07 Apr 2008 09:26:00 EST. Lexus must have figured that all the good ones were taken, so why not just go with the first letter of FAST. No doubt, the GS-F will be a rocket. It better be, if it wants to try kicking sand in the face of the M5. The artist's rendering gives a credible estimation of what kind of styling *ahem* enhancements might accompany the increased athleticism in the GS's chassis, and the increased power under the hood. We guess that the GS-F will need to call some attention to itself to help build street cred, but if the actual car looks anything like the rendering, there'll be no stealth bombing for you.<br /><br />[Source: Paultan.org] <br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/rendered-speculation-lexus-gs-f/">Rendered Speculation: Lexus GS-F</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 16 May 2007 18:10:00 EST. Well, it seems that the letter 'L' has been dispatched in order to make room for the <em>real</em> performance division of Lexus.<br /><br />'F,' as it turns out, stands for 'fast,' and will grace the trunk lid of Lexus vehicles that seek to do battle amidst the AMGs and Ms of the world.<br /><br />The first F-inagled Lexus to make its debut will be a hotted-up version of the IS sedan, equipped with a 5-liter V8. What was originally assumed to be called the IS500, the newly dubbed IS-F will come with a revised version of the V8 that resides in the LS600h L and will produce upwards of 425 HP. Pricing is expected to come in around $50k, and is aimed squarely at the upcoming M3.<br /><br />Other models expected to get the 'F' treatment include the GS sedan and a coupe version of the IS.<br /><br />According to Automotive News, Lexus filed for a trademark on the IS-F and also for the 'F' logo above, however, Lexus has not confirmed the reports.<br /><br />[Source: Automotive News - Sub.
