It isn't a secret that Maserati is planning a product expansion in an attempt sell 50,000 units annually by 2015, but the automaker hasn't officially announced just how it plans to do so. Yes, we've seen (and driven) the 2014 Quattroporte, checked out spy shots for the smaller Ghibli sedan and Maserati even confirmed the Levante name for its SUV, but a leaked document reported by CarScoop could shed some light on how the Italian automaker intends on carrying out its rapid growth.

According to the image, the new Ghibli and Levante models will considerably lower the entry price point for the Maserati brand with the sedan having a price range from around $72,000 up to just over the $100,000 mark, with the SUV starting at close to $80,000 and topping out at almost $200,000. It also looks like the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be getting redesigned in the near future at which point the new Gran Sport model will be added to the mix - otherwise known as the which often-rumored sports car with which Maserati will do battle with the Porsche 911.

2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC

Yes, the 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC is yet another variation on the GranTurismo song and dance, but we won't be the ones to hold it against the convertible. The Italian automaker threw in a revised, more aggressive front fascia, and the new nose helps stretch the convertible's overall length by nearly two inches. That's some overhang. The GranCabrio also features reworked adaptive headlights with LED daytime running lights, and a rear spoiler that produces more downforce than the standard issue kit is part of the mix as well.

Inside, the Maserati GranCabrio MC delivers redesigned seats up front, which offer more bolstering and can be hewn from carbon fiber for extra coin. And the new design helps the machine deliver a bit more rear legroom out back.

Buyers can expect to be met with the same 4.7-liter V8 as found in the GranTurismo Sport. The lump dumps 460 horsepower onto the rear tires via a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. Take a look at the full press release below for more information.

Maserati sure seems to be milking the GranTurismo franchise for all its worth these days. In addition to plenty of limited editions and sport models for both the coupe and convertible, Maserati recently launched the MC version of the hardtop. Now, ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the Modenese automaker has dropped details on its latest iteration of the GT platform, the GranCabrio MC.

Visually, the droptop's most noticeable change is its new face, which has been lifted directly off the MC Stradale coupe. This means the car is a full 48 millimeters longer than the standard and Sport versions of the GranCabrio, but we like the decidedly more aggressive look to that big ol' schnoz. The large rear spoiler has also been reworked for the MC, providing even more downforce to keep that large body firmly glued to the road.

Maserati has not released powertrain details, but we assume that the GranCabrio MC uses the same 4.7-liter Ferrari-sourced V8 as the MC coupe, good for 444 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Maserati GranCabrio by Fendi

A modern Maserati is as much a fashion statement as it is a performance machine, and the Modenese automaker aptly demonstrated that much with the latest edition of the GranCabrio.

Called the GranTurismo Convertible on this Western side of the Atlantic, the massive four-seat droptop is about as chic as it gets. But to make it even more so, Maserati has teamed up with fashion powerhouse Fendi to turn out what will undoubtedly prove an even greater must-have motorized fashion accessory than the Fiat 500 by Gucci.

Maserati GranCabrio Fendi

The collaboration between fashion houses and automakers is a longstanding tradition. Think Nautica edition Mercury Villager, Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorer, or most recently, the Gucci edition Fiat 500. Now its big brother Maserati is getting in on the action with the Fendi edition GranCabrio - the droptop known as the GranTurismo Convertible on this side of the Atlantic.

Set to be unveiled next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the GranCabrio Fendi is distinguished by such unique touches as a special dark gray paint with flecks of gold, special leather and wood trim in the cabin, yellow highlights inside and out, a fitted leather luggage set (similar to the set previously offered by rival clothier Salvatore Ferragamo) and the requisite special badges.

The individually-numbered special edition, well-appointed as it looks, is sure to be popular with the affluent boulevard cruiser set in locales ranging from Rodeo Drive to Monte Carlo. 2012 Maserati GranCabrio Sport

If you've been hankering for a new two-door Maserati but the 400-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 in the base GranTurismo and the 434hp 4.7-liter V8 in the GranTurismo S just aren't cutting it, Maserati North America has good news for you, as a pair of more powerful versions are ready to hit American and Canadian roads.

First up is the GranTurismo MC that packs the same aggressive aerodynamically optimized bodywork as the more hardcore GranTurismo MC Stradale available overseas, but with four seats instead of two and a torque-converter six-speed ZF automatic instead of the sequential paddle-shifter.

Also reaching our shores is the GranTurismo Convertible Sport, which is the same as the GranCabrio Sport sold overseas, just with a different name. (Apparently the Modense automaker doesn't feel those on this side of the Atlantic know what a cabrio is.)

Now here's the juicy bit: both the MC and Convertible Sport pack the more powerful version of the 4.7-liter V8 with 444 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The 2012 Maserati GranTurismo MC carries a base price of $139,900 in the U.S., while the 2012 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport goes for $147,500. Major automakers take note: if you want to see how far your can go with a single platform, look towards small exotic automakers like Maserati or Aston Martin.

Both these rival marques build their entire lineup on a single platform each (with occasional exceptions like the MC12 or One-77, respectively). In Maserati's case, the latest addition is the GranTurismo MC Stradale (known just as the GranTurismo MC on this side of the Atlantic). And to tie the family together, the Modenese automaker has released this video that showcases the MC against a backdrop that also includes the standard GranTurismo coupe, the GranCabrio (known here as the GranTurismo Convertible) and the Quattroporte flagship.

We knew something looked familiar about the Soleil Anadi. We're not talking about the Corvette styling cues that clearly shine through. No, there was something in the back(ground) of our minds that gave us a feeling of deja-vu. And then it hit us: it must have arrived at the same dock as the Maserati GranCabrio Sport. On the same day. With the clouds standing perfectly still.

Given that the Soleil Anadi is set to be unveiled next week in Monaco, one's bound to be parked next to a Maserati at some point. We just didn't realize that when it is, it'll be a tearful reunion of sorts.

Call the Maserati GranCabrio a slouch and you're bound to get yourself a mouth full of exhaust and a nose full of burnt rubber. To wit, when Maserati launched the droptop a few years back, it opted to skip the 400-horsepower V8 from the base GranTurismo and go straight for the more powerful 4.7 with its 434 prancing stallions (the engine is, after all, made by Ferrari). As if that weren't enough,power was upped to a solid 450 with the GranCabrio Sport, just unveiled last month in Geneva. But for those who think that still isn't enough, there's Novitec Tridente.

The Maserati tuning division of the German tuning house, Novitec Tridente has turned its attention to the GranCabrio - known in North America as the GranTurismo Convertible - with a series of upgrades. The most prominent of them is a supercharger, which, along with the intercooler and ECU remap, drives output up to a prodigious 590 horsepower and 422 pound-feet of torque.

There's also a stainless steel exhaust, sport suspension, upgraded rolling stock and a carbon fiber aero kit with front splitter, rear apron, bootlid spoiler and side skirts. The entire conversion will set you back $28,000 on top of the $136k purchase price of a new GranTurismo Convertible, and is claimed to up the top speed to 187 mph, hitting 0-62 in 4.5 seconds from a standstill. But with that much muscle, we wouldn't be surprised if that were the understatement that this exotic Italian cabriolet is most certainly not.

Maserati has just unveiled the 2011 Gran Cabrio Sport at the Geneva Motor Show, and it looks better in the flesh than even re-touched press photos could have promised. Maserati is aiming the Gran Cabrio Sport squarely at giving its droptop GT a little more performance cred.

The blacked-out tailpipes and wheels draw attention to the idea that this thing is meant for more than just posing. Inside, Maserati hammer home the car's purpose even harder, with carbon fiber dashboard trim and shifter paddles. All those touches do a good job making this car look fast, but Maserati made sure the car goes as well as it looks.

To that end, they upgraded the standard car's six-speed paddle-shifted transmission for even quicker gear changes. The ZF-sourced gearbox gets spun by a 450-horsepower version of Maserati's top-dog 4.7-liter V8. Maserati has also firmed up the car's Skyhood active suspension and thrown in bigger brakes to keep everything from going awry. Full press release after the jump.

When the Maserati GranTurismo made its debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, it came equipped with a 400-horsepower, 4.2-liter V8 made by Ferrari. A year later, Maserati shoehorned a larger 4.7-liter unit under the GT's hood, boasting 434 horsepower. But when the GranCabrio - known as the GranTurismo Convertible in the United States - hit the market, the Modense automaker opted to skip the smaller engine and go straight for the 4.7 from the S. Now the Trident marque is doing one better with the new GranCabrio Sport.

Due to be unveiled in Geneva, the top-spec four-seat convertible packs an upgraded version of the 4.7-liter V8. 450 horsepower are driven through the same ZF six-speed auto as the standard model, but re-calibrated with the MC Auto Shift programming for quicker response. The Skyhood active suspension has also been optimized, along with the upgraded brakes, and as you can see from the images in the gallery below, the automaker has also applied a number of sporty touches to the styling as well. Economic downturns aren't good for a marque like Maserati. Along with such attributes as elegant, exciting and attractive, they could also be called excessive. After all, there are less flashy cars on the market. That's why Maserati's sales in the United States fell by nearly half last year, but that was before the new GranTurismo Convertible (known as the GranCabrio overseas) came along.

Now that the Trident's line-up has grown to include the critically acclaimed four-seat convertible, sales have gone back up by about as much as they dropped in the first place. Credit that to the economy beginning to recover? Maybe, but according to reports, sales of the GranTurismo coupe and Quattroporte sedan in the U.S. have yet to bounce back to their pre-recession levels, leading to just one conclusion.

The GranTurismo Convertible has, in fact, been such a runaway success for Maserati that the model is completely sold out in the U.S., leaving the kind of waiting list once reserved for even more exotic supercars like those from sister-company Ferrari.

What do Formula One drivers drive in their downtime? Well, when you're a two-time world champion like Fernando Alonso, you get to drive pretty much whatever you want. That is, assuming the team you're driving for isn't owned by a specific automaker. Then you'll need to drive whatever the provide you with. And in Alonso's case, notwithstanding his solo 2001 debut season with Minardi-Cosworth, he's pretty much only driven for automaker-owned teams: Renault, McLaren-Mercedes, then back to Renault and now Ferrari.

While at Renault, Alonso drove a Megane RS that was later offered for sale on eBay. When he moved to McLaren, he got his finely-honed hands on an SLR 722. Now that he's at Ferrari, you'd expect him to be driving a new 458 Italia or a 599 GTB Fiorano, right? Almost, but not quite.

Ferrari's sister company Maserati has announced that Alonso has acquired a new GranCabrio - to be sold Stateside as the GranTurismo Convertible, lest we be confused. The Spanish driver - who's already off to a great start, having won his first race with the team to which everyone said he always belonged - picked one out in (very) dark gray with a two-tone beige and bordeaux interior with a matching canvas roof. And if you think about it, his selection makes sense: if you're driving a high-strung performance machine for work, wouldn't you want to unwind in something a little more relaxed? The weather outside may be frightful, but fret not, because summer is coming soon...ish. And when it does, you're going to want the right set of wheels. With that in mind, the good folks over at Maserati North America have revealed the pricing for their new GranTurismo Convertible (also known as the GranCabrio overseas) so you can start saving now. And save you will if you want to get your hands on one, because it sells for a princely $135,800 (MSRP, before taxes and additional fees).

If you're wondering how much it costs to lob the roof off a GranTurismo and replace it with a triple-insulated retractable soft top, consider that the standard coupe starts at $117,500, for a difference of - carry the one, divide by the square root of pi - $18,300. When you consider, however, that the convertible comes standard with the larger 4.7-liter engine from the $121,500 GranTurismo S, the additional cost of open-air motoring comes out to a somewhat more manageable $14,300, which may or may not make it easier to justify to your spouse. What's in a name, you ask? A lot, especially when you're trying to increase market share against such storied brands as Aston Martin, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, to name just a few.

Maserati took the wraps off its first proper four-seat convertible at last month's Frankfurt Motor Show. But while the open-air version of the GranTurismo coupe will be sold as the GranCabrio in overseas markets, the Italian automaker has seen fit to give the vehicle a more straightforward name in North America.

When the GranCabrio goes on sale in the United States, Canada and Mexico - as well as Australia and New Zealand - it will be sold as the GranTurismo Convertible. Pricing has yet to be officially announced, but dealers are already taking orders for the new cabrio in advance of its arrival in time for next summer. Details in the press release after the jump.

There are a few things Maserati could do to make the GranTurismo look better than it does, but not many. One option is to surround it with unspeakably beautiful women. Another is to remove the roof. Thankfully, they opted for both here in Frankfurt, where the Trident marque took the wraps off the new GranCabrio.

The girls are a regular fixture for Maserati. But the convertible version of the GranTurismo coupe has been a long time coming. Details and the first batch of photos broke a few weeks ago, and we just got our first up-close-and-personal with what is, believe it or not, the only proper four-seat cabriolet currently on offer from Italy. After what seems like years of eager anticipation, and with the weeks ticking down until the Frankfurt Motor Show, Maserati has finally unveiled its long-awaited convertible model. With the Maserati GranCabrio, it looks like the Italian automaker has done a beautiful job of translating the Pininfarina-designed GranTurismo into an open-top machine.

The questions on all our minds as we saw an endless stream of heavily-disguised test mules were whether the new convertible would have a fabric or metal roof, retain its four seats or sacrifice the back row (like its predecessor, the Spyder), and which engine would be found under that long hood.

Now we've got our answers. Unlike the Ferrari California, the GranCabrio features a cloth roof that deploys over the four-place passenger compartment, saving both weight and space. In fact, it's the first four-seat convertible in the company's history, and boasts what Maserati says is the longest wheelbase on the market. The Trident marque has also chosen to fit the convertible with the 4.7-liter 433-hp V8 from the GranTurismo S, bypassing the base 4.2-liter unit and mating it to the highly-rated ZF six-speed automatic. The new Maser's public debut is scheduled for the Frankfurt show next month, but in the meantime, follow the jump to read the press release and check out the quartet of images in the gallery below.
