<br />
Prices for vintage Ferraris have escalated the last few years, with the more expensive models breaking records for the price of a car sold at auction. A <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/19/1961-ferrari-california-spyder-sells-for-record-10-894-900/">1961 Ferrari California Spyder sold for more than $10 million in 2008</a>, and a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/18/ferrari-250tr-sells-for-record-breaking-12-2-million-at-rm-auct/">1957 Ferrari 250 TR went for more than $12 million in 2009</a>. When auction house Gooding announced that it would be selling the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/20/1957-ferrari-250-tr-prototype-expected-to-break-records-at-goodi/">recently restored 1957 Ferrari 250 TR prototype</a> at this past weekend's Pebble Beach sale, we had a feeling that the record would be broken once again.<br />
<br />
Our hunch was correct, as a final bid of $14.9 million was offered for the car at Friday night's auction. Taking into account Gooding's ten percent selling fee, the final price rang in at an astounding $16.39 million.<br />
<br />
In addition to the 250 TR, Gooding sold six additional cars over the million dollar mark including a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California ($3.355 million), a 1963 Shelby Cobra 289 Factory Team Car ($2.285 million) and a 1953 Ferrari 375 Vignale Coupe ($2.2 million). You can read more about the record-breaking auction in Gooding's press release <a href="/2011/08/22/1957-ferrari-250-tr-prototype-sells-for-record-16-39-million-at/#continued">after the jump</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/22/1957-ferrari-250-tr-prototype-sells-for-record-16-39-million-at/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>1957 Ferrari 250 TR Prototype sells for record $16.39 million at Gooding's Pebble Beach auction</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/22/1957-ferrari-250-tr-prototype-sells-for-record-16-39-million-at/">1957 Ferrari 250 TR Prototype sells for record $16.39 million at Gooding's Pebble Beach auction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 13:30:00 EST. <br />
We witnessed several million-dollar cars go up for sale at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/15/monterey-2010-rm-auction-stacked-with-million-dollar-cars/">RM's auction on Saturday night</a>, but across town, the Gooding &amp; Company auction had even more impressive metal crossing the block. Gooding's two night auction resulted in more than $64 million in sales, including six world records. "We went into this year's Pebble Beach Auctions with high expectations because of the sheer number of extraordinary cars we had consigned," said David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding &amp; Company. "Our highest-ever Pebble Beach weekend results at $64.59 Million speak for themselves and I couldn't be happier."<br />
<br />
The record-setting cars auctioned off by Gooding:<br />

<br />When it comes to auctions during the Monterey car week, the best is saved for last. Held in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours, the auction house Gooding &amp; Company offered up an incredible selection of cars on both Saturday and Sunday night. By the time the last lot had crossed the block, two cars had sold for over $4 million including a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/#4">1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Drop Head Coupe</a> that went for $4,180,000 and a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/#2">1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider</a> that commanded $5,115,000. <br /><br />Seven other cars passed the seven figure mark, including a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/#5">1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Roadster</a> ($3,000,000), a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/#6">1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider</a> ($2,750,000), and a very unique <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/#7">1938 Bugatti Type 57C Special Coupe</a> ($1,375,00) previously owned by Ettore Bugatti himself. More details about the auction can be found in the press release after the jump, and you can view complete auction results on <a href="http://www.goodingco.com/auctions/results/pebble09/">Gooding's web site</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction">2009 Gooding &amp; Company Pebble Beach Auction</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/goodingpb09_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/goodingpb09_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/goodingpb09_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/goodingpb09_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-gooding-and-company-pebble-beach-auction/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/goodingpb09_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.goodingco.com/">Gooding &amp; Company</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/20/monterey-2009-gooding-and-company-breaks-50-million-in-sales-at/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Monterey 2009: Gooding &amp; Company breaks $50 million in sales at Pebble Beach auction</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/20/monterey-2009-gooding-and-company-breaks-50-million-in-sales-at/">Monterey 2009: Gooding &amp; Company breaks $50 million in sales at Pebble Beach auction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 20 Aug 2009 16:40:00 EST.
