The P4/5 is what resulted, and Ferrari gave its blessing for it to wear the Prancing Horse emblem – something it hadn't done for a coachbuilt custom in decades. A slew of rebodied Ferraris followed, prompting the factory to launch its own coachbuilding division. But Jim wasn't out of the picture.

According to new reports, James Glickenhaus has more big plans for his P4/5 Competizione, eying an entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 with an LMP contender. That year there will be a slate of new regulations that refocus cars around around the amount of energy they use per lap (instead of displacement and air restrictions) and that open up the possibilities for design and privateer competitors.

The 2011 24 Hours of Nürburgring is long over, which means we're due for an update on how James Glickenhaus and his beautiful Ferrari P4/5 Comeptizione fared. Here's the short answer: they finished pretty well. Overall, the car ended up in 40th, but managed a third-place in the E1-XP2 class. Not too shabby.

Ultimatecarpage, with the permission of owner James Glickenhaus, has posted the first three officially sanctioned photos of the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina. The Enzo-based one-of-a-kind tribute to the classic Ferrari 330 P3/4 was not scheduled to be revealed until later this month, but leaks on the web spurred Glickenhouse to action.
